🪖Why The Draft/Conscription Should Never Happen🪖 

I joined the Navy in 2015 to learn a new skill. In 2018 I got forced out. When the pandemic happened, the oath I took as a Hospital Corpsman meant I felt a duty to help, so I tried to re-enlist. Navy didn't want me. US military sure ain't gonna get me when we kick off WW3. Some foreign enemy (or domestic) breaches my states borders, I'll gladly fight. But that's the most this country will ever get from me again.

You hit it right in target bro, the reason men don’t want to join the military is we know the dirt that has been played, hell I’ve known it since before I was of age and is why I didn’t join… we lost more freedom in the last 24 years then we have in the first few hundred of America… No one is fighting for freedom or to spread the republic… people are fighting for financial gain of the elites… our founding father didn’t believe in foreign wars hence why we didn’t take England…. We kicked out whoever and we’re known as a warrior society you didn’t want to try and approach with that bs after the revolution and we need to go back to that

I don't believe that the recruiting woes the military is facing is due to people that don't want to defend this nation but rather their reluctance to join a woke military that is going a direction contrary to our core values as a nation. I believe that if push came to shove and landed on our beaches that a great many would in fact pick up arms and fight. Another outstanding post brother, I could not agree with you more on the draft. While there is a difference between Conscripted mandatory service (such as Finland, Israel, Russia, and others that have it on the books) and a Draft in nuance, yup. We've had a Draft several times before as you brought up, foolish to think it can't happen again-- but it absolutely has to be under the right circumstances and reasons, otherwise it is beyond unethical and unlawful.

Food for thought...regarding the Draft. Just prior to X-mas the DoD called ordered over 1,000 Non-Commissioned Officers to Recruiting School on emergency orders. At about the same time the DoD ordered NCO's to Drill Sergeant School. In recent times women have been inducted into the infantry, rangers, and special forces. We are one defense authorization away from a draft. Did I mention that we are building a military port in Gaza? a prerequisite to fighting in Ukrain/Russia. Best of luck, Phil

I think you nailed this subject of conscription right on the head. You said basically the same things I believe about forced service, but explained it far better than I ever could.

I agree with most of what you said. I volunteered and spent 20 years on active duty. Most of our current military age people refuse to enlist to defend the rights they so frequently insist on. I agree if you won't fight for your rights you don't deserve them. But what about all the elderly, children and others who are not physically or mentally capable of military service? Are you willing to sacrifice our non-combatant citizens because no-one want to enlist? If so this country is doomed to defeat and annihilation in any war. There are many problems with forced military service but are you willing to tell the children and the elderly they will have to die or give up their rights because no-one wants to fight for them? I personally believe that citizenship should be based on military or other service to the country. If a person won't earn their rights they don't deserve them.

I'm too old now! I saw a great deal durning the Vietnam era war. I served 1981!87 in the USAF. I've seen how veterans are treated, and I won't fight for the current government. Thanks for sharing this with us! Spot on!! 👍🫡✌️🤝🎯🤜🤛👊

They are going to do to us here in the US just like they did in UKR , Veterans like you and i will be called back to Active duty

Good stuff as always. I was in high school in the late ‘70s , so post draft. All of my buddies and I said we’d enlist if the country was attacked, but so soon after Viet Nam we were highly distrustful of the recruiters wanting us to give up the ability to refuse the next time soldiers were sent to fight where there was little or no benefit to the US outside of the elites running the military industrial complex. Now at 64, and looking back in the last 40 years, with all due respect to the volunteers, my view is the same. If they institute a draft to fight another European world war, people will be shot at their doorsteps before they let their kids be taken.

i was in the US Army 67 to 70,i had enlisted but in my 3 years a lot of the guys i knew were drafted....a lot,and i thought then as i do now that the draft was wrong,as was america fighting in vietnam

Being forced to fight is the same as slavery. One man fighting for his home is worth 10 fighting for pay. Everything you've said is true. Watch "The Last of the Mohicans" and realize that the story was written in 1896. Listen to the things he says between the action parts. And rethink what it means to be American. I will fight for what is dear. But not for the great Nation of Raytheon.

I have always had the mindset of if there were to be an invasion I would be one of the first in line to sign up. I do not agree with the draft for the reasons you listed. We, as free men, should never be made to do anything, especially something that goes directly against our beliefs or the constitution.

Ive already served this country for over 22 years back, so they don't need to call me because I will be defending my family and home. They can go get the Gen Z kids and see how far that goes-

Conscription is slavery. And (for good measure) taxation is theft... Or worse.

I disagree, slavery is much worse. When drafted of course you are under military law but you retain most of your freedoms and are compensated for your time. Slaves were only given what they needed to stay alive. I do agree with you that if the people don't want to fight for their freedoms then they don't deserve them!
