A basic how-to on replacing the fuel filter on '00-'08 Ford Focuses. You can find this filter and the filter for your particular car at any parts store.
Hey Adam, installed the new filter in less than one hour based on your video. I would have never thought to remove the fuse and drain the fuel in the charged line. Had very little gas spill. Just what was in the filter. :-) Thanks again
hi could you tell me , before you changed the filter was the car jerky or losing gas (power) when you tried to accelerate away , my focus does this and I am wondering if the filter is the problem . many thanks
chelle71ful No, I did it as a measure of preventative maintenance. Ran perfect before and after. Fuel filter could be your problem. How many miles on yours?
my engine system(red light with an exclamation mark inside a circle)just came on,and my car seems sluggish.I took it for a long fast drive along a motorway to see if it cleared but it didnt.do you think this could be down to my fuel filter?(2005 model, with 120 thousand on the clock)
I have a 2007 Focus, and it apparently has what's called a "lifetime" filter installed by Ford. There isn't a separate replaceable filter. Does anyone know what years/models that Ford did this on?
ford focus duratec HE 1.8 and 2.0L engines comes with inline fuel filters 04-11 models. ford focus 1.6L engines have no inline fuel filters they are built into fuel pump assembly. My all local ford parts shop refused saying no fuel filter in ford focus but when i checked with ford dealer they confirmed duratec HE engines have inline fuel filter. I order fuel filter for my car and hope i will get soon (dealer have no stock non running item strange). I will try to upload a video once i replace filter because i notice lot of confusion regarding fuel filter. Note my car is ford focus 2009 2.0L titanium European version.
i would drive my car for a while but when i get to a red light my car turns off. i turns on again right away but when i get to the light again i turns off. do u have any idea what could it be?? thank u
I have 2001 focus zts. The fuel pump is also controlled by #12 fuse at the same location in the fuse box as your car. I unplugged the #12 fuse after starting the car, but it kept running. Why is that? So strange.
That proves my theory that oil company are selling us gas that we don't need ! Do like me and Kramer in one of Seinfeld episode, boycott and don't go refueling ever again !!!
My 2007 Focus also doesn't have a separate replaceable fuel filter. Instead it has a "lifetime" filter that is part of the fuel pump assembly. Apparently this was used on some Focus's by Ford. Not sure which models use or do not use this. It seems to be a random thing that Ford did with various models.
There is a maintenance manual aside from the owner's manual that lists maintenance intervals for every serviceable item, in this case, the fuel filter gets changed every 100,000 miles.
