Thank you Nemo! I served in London South too. Never tried Jammie Dodgers though. Wish I had. Thanks for fighting the good fight. The lack of honesty and integrity is why I left. You calling them to be accountable is no reason to have your membership ‘withdrawn’. They have a truth crisis on their hands, and more and more are waking up to it.

Same here. I even sent an e-mail in support of him and I got a call from my Branch President. He wants to speak to me sometime. No idea about what? NEMO has strengthened my faith. I am still in Church. I am active, I believe in the Church, but it's good to know about what's going on and that the leaders might be lying, misleading and are actually apostates. That doesn't mean we have to be. Questioning, pondering, praying are all that the Lord wants from us. I haven't left because I want to see if I can change things a bit from within. I no longer pay tithing and will not anymore, and after this. I am seriously thinking about leaving, And when I do I would like E. Oaks' e-mail to let him know that his actions and the actions of Nemo's Stake President have lead me to that decision. They made me decide to leave.

I was a member for 50 years, served in almost every calling imaginable including temple worker. I don’t view anyone as becoming ‘weak’ when they finally see the church for the fraud it is. I am considerably stronger after leaving the church.

Thanks Jimmy for speaking to our Nemo. I am an American/British citizen, left wing American who will be voting from Britain. I met an American missionary in the UK as a young teen. Married in the Oakland temple, things went badly wrong. I am back in the UK with my disabled child, 3 grown successful boys in America, the baby completing his PhD. Dad spent most of his life in prison. I was deeply saddened by Nemo’s excommunication. He has a brilliant mind and fully researches everything he presents. He is a hero to us. Thanks again, I will be interested in your future content, this was my introduction. So many of us have so much in common. Thank you Jimmy from California, US/ Devon UK. Stay safe 🇬🇧🇺🇸

Our branch was moved from the town it was in because the Branch President and Elder's Quorum President lived 15 miles away. The name of the branch was also changed and they expected more people in meetings. We had 40, then it dropped down to 25 in the new location. The President was so worried he spoke with the stake so they expanded the branch by 20 miles in every direction and even took a chunk out of a neighboring ward. Meeting numbers went up to 50 now they are back down to 30. People get baptised, they show up for a few weeks, then we never see them again. There is a lot of nepotism and those who served in the old branch were all released to make way for the ones from the ward. Out of the 30, 10 of those are kids...... That is so right Nemo. There are people in the branch who talk behind the backs of others, but in Church they are all hugs and handshakes and so nice to see you. Those who aren't hypocrites have left. I am still there but after this with Nemo, I am seriously considering leaving.

I remember going through an interview with the Stake President when I was six, as part of a hearing determining whether or not my parents were to be excommunicated. My mother was, my father was not. Forward twenty-five years, and my father decided he wanted to go to church on Sundays. So he asked to have my mother reinstated. Despite her possession of the letter advising her of the decision, the church stated she'd never been excommunicated. I'm not a Mormon, it's all made-up nonsense, but it gave them a weird sense of homecoming. I'm sure it gave them significant comfort in their last years. For me, dishonesty is compounded on dishonesty, especially when an organization is built on lies.

A rather enjoyable, quite jolly hour or so of good-natured chat. I asked a question of Nemo, in the comments section of the 'Vigil' video on John Dehlin's Mormon Stories channel, but Nemo probably didn't see it. It is a genuine, sincere question from a non-religious person, not to make any trite quibbles about Nemo's position vis-a-vis the Mormon church, but to ask a philosophical question related to the Kantian concept of the categorical imperative. From what Nemo says here, there seems to be a clash of moral principles at play. I do understand his point about activism leading to real positive change, but, as an ethical person, I wonder how he deals philosophically with knowing that his 'tribe' are a bunch of scoundrels, as they were from the very foundation of the church - corrupt and corrupting - when everything I have observed in a couple of decades proves this to be true, to my understanding at least. To say that Mormons are one's tribe is hardly a moral justification for continuing association, after discovering the litany of untruths they are responsible for perpetuating. This is not meant as any kind of attack, but just something that genuinely puzzles me.

Your sentiment is what led me to go to the effort of having my name removed. I’m good conscience I couldn’t have my name attached to the crooked scoundrels anymore longer. I took an honest look at the fruits of the church’s labours, took an honest look at their dishonesty, and told myself I didn’t want to allow them to count me among their numbers any longer.

Hold on! I was not expecting this cross over! I haven’t watched you in a while, not for any specific reason. I watched you a lot back in 2017 and maybe 2018, maybe even 2016, I was deconstructing from evangelicalism. I grew up seeing Mormon missionaries a lot, but remembering you and your channel I think is what got me into finding out about Mormon Stories and Nemo and other podcasts and just Mormonism in general.

I have no idea what the church is like where I currently live. My parents have seen ward consolidations to include abandoning at least two buildings in their stake. There might even be a stake consolidation if it keeps up. I think the church peaked in the late 90s or early 2000s, and it's been declining since. Covid played a huge part when people stopped going to church and realized they were happier without it. I may resign my membership if they find out where I live and come knocking.

I dumped the cult. Back in the 70s when the profit said blacks could hold the priesthood because he had a revelation. yeah well it was more like political pressure. I saw the light I wrote the letter they needed to take me off the role. don’t get me wrong. I love the premise of the church the community. I guess that’s why I overlooked a lot of their lies. They don’t like people who tell the truth.

As an active Latter-day Saint myself, I appreciate listening and reading critiques of the church and working to make changes to the church, internally. I’m a liberal and voting for Harris and all Dems. Nemo asked to be removed from the church, as virtually all ex-members do.

I, like many others stopped attending church decades ago and I haven't found this to be true. Mainly because I kept my sense of the sacred, the church does not hold the monopoly on that and is not the sole gateway to the divine.

Hi Nemo. You say you've never encouraged people to leave the church, and technically that's correct insofar as you are not uttering any intent to make people change their views. However, If I found solid evidence that Christianity was totally made up and I shared it, then that act itself would encourage some people to doubt and possibly leave the church. It would be disingenuous for me to pretend that I wasn't expecting that to happen. Personally, If I thought those things, I would not call myself a Christian, as it's paradoxical. It seems clear that you think Joseph Smith made it up, and you ( quite rightfully) share those views around. I totally think he did too, but I'm not a member of a church that I think is based on BS. I know I'm in the minority, but it seems naieve to expect a church that needs to divert from or hide their BS, to let you stay in. There is no resolving the issues. It IS BS, so why would they let you be a member?
