strong fuel smell from the underside of the car, trust your instincts you have a fuel leak. on this 01 civic it was leaking from the fuel pump top housing due to a hair line crack. 01-05 civic its a common problem
An easy job. Thanks for the video. Saved my pops from taking the car to an auto shop even though it was pissing fuel from the top of the assembly.. The car has done a lot and held up after 21 years.
Definitely going to use this to help me change out my fuel pump. I don't trust mechanic shops because I am female and know I would get ripped off. Also what is a recommended mask to wear? I am almost 5 months pregnant and just want to take some precautions.
I'm not sure what mask to recommend, but I will tell you to work in an open space and away from heat since your dealing with fuel. I have used a respirator before and those work will too, like the ones they used for painting.
I would be careful cause we bought a new fuel pump and went too a mechanic hoping they would fix it and 4-6 month later is smell like gas and found out they didn’t replace it or swap the use one with a use/old one and kept the new one.
Watched a few videos and i had the same problem with the black ring that locks it into place just placed the old one on and first spin it locked, new one for some reason wasnt working lol
does this car have multiple filters? like one in the engine bay that increases pressure and results with the filter in the tank cracking. Maybe a high flow fuel might help relieve that.
You have to put the big rubber gasket on the new unit first. This had me wanting to squeeze the new unit into the hole with gasket attached...it was a fight. After you get the unit to squeeze through the opening, install the rubber gasket to the tank. Then push the new unit into the installed gasket. Hope this helps
