Hey Ps3mn1, just wanted to say thanks for the video! I installed the unit with just the wiring harness - color wires, and I wasn't getting output. I watched this and your updated version and realized I needed a DIN adapter because the Eclipse speakers are powered speakers. Popped that adapter in and voila! Thanks a lot man.
If your car has a amp under seat and it gets its signal for sound through the 6 pin din with rca adapter then you don’t really need to hook up the speaker wires in the main harness because if you look at the back side of stock plug there’s only power and grounding wires
Your video really helped me. Bought my car and no sound from the radio. Realized that the DIN cable wasn't connected. Also, the link to buy the cable really helped.

On the video you said the blue wire on the din cable must be connected also but you didn't say which wire it must be connected to. I have everything connected as you've shown in the video except the blue wire from the din cable, my radio lights up but there's no sound
I'm going to be making an updated video on this, I believe I didn't show enough information on how to do this properly. There is a better way of wiring your aftermarket radio which I will show in my next video! However, this will at least give everyone an idea on what you'll need to install an aftermarket radio for a Mitsubishi!

Blue and white wire from DYN cable connects to.....? Old cheap aftermarket deck malfunctioned to the point I only had sound coming out of the center speaker on the dash. Now with the new stereo I have power to stereo but no sound.
I have a 2004 eclipse and everything is stock. But none of my speakers work. The radio turns on and I can change the station but no sound out of anything. Was hoping you had an idea of what to do? By the way great video!!
Could be the din cable is disconnected, either located under your passenger seat where the amp is, or inside the stereo deck. Or could be the 10A fuse located inside the engine bay. It's located in the Yellow square. Hope this helps!
Does your steering wheel radio controls still work? I'm trying to do this and I want to make sure I can still control the radio with my steering wheel buttons.
I got the kit u got but I hooked it all up but its not working I notice the harness I got don't have a ground wire it only has red blue yellow orange the harness that goes to the stereo has all speaker wires n the wires that the harness has to hook up to factory harness
I never had to connect a ground wire, the power runs from the din cable to the amplifier. I would check your wires. Or could be a bad fuse not giving the stereo power.
+Jon Silvers Could be a loose wire, it seems to me they're getting power to the speaker, but there's no output. I would check your wiring harness behind the stereo and spot any loose connections.
I'll clarify what this kid is saying since i deal with these situations on the daily. First off he is calling RCA's "input" which RCA's is an "output" from the headunit. I have an 2001 Eclipse Spyder GT and the best thing to do is get the Metra 70-7002 wiring kit and bypass the crap infinity stock amplifier. Basically the Metra wiring kit plugs into the harness under the seat and you feed this harness up to your headunit and match the colors off your new headunit. Just bypass or do not use the tweater wires unless u got bass blockers on them.
Me again...I received the adapter. My aftermarket stereo has 6 RCA inputs and I'm confused on what colors go where since my aftermarket radio is coded black/red/white. Do I need another adapter?
Allie W The din adapter connects to the wiring harness. You don't need any other adapters. Solder in the wires from the wiring harness to the inline female phono jacks. black trim wire goes on the long end of the phono jack.

That's not me who sold you the kit, it's a company who I had bought the kit from. I linked it. On the RCA Plugs there should be the blue/white wire, that's your External Amplifier, which is not used unless you were going to be wiring in Subwoofers and the External Amplifier.
Hey I have a 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse gt spyder, I hooked up everything right ( I think) the radio turns on and works but no sound is coming from the speakers, what could it be ? Could it be the harness that only has 4 connections and the din cable, and that I might have to buy the more expensive harness with more connections or what ? Pls lmk
Erik Caraballo If your stereo worked before installing the new aftermarket stereo then I would check your rca speaker connections, the purple, green, white, grey wires. If your stereo didn't work before doing the installation I would suggest your factory amp is shot. The amp is located under your passenger seat. Good luck!
Ps3mn1 the old factory radio wouldn't turn on at all, I installed the new aftermarket and it turned on and as I put a local radio station on it, on the screen of the radio itself it shows as if there is sound as the bars go up and down on the screen but the speakers have no sound coming out, do you think it could possibly be more of the harness that's the problem because there are so many wires left over on the aftermarket radio like the green, purple , white, orange, and the rca connectors on the aftermarket is white red white red, and on the din cable the rca connectors are green, white, gray, purple
Erik Caraballo There's two ways you could do it. The simple way is to take 2 rca splitters and connect either colors from the din cable green/purple/white/grey to the back of your stereo where the red/white inputs are. That should give you sound. If you get sound I would suggest you solder the din cable connections with rca phono jacks if you were going to install subwoofer in the future. If you haven't already watched update #3 I demonstrate not having sound coming from your stereo. Good luck
does the din cable bring power to the stereo because we did everything except were waiting on the adapter is it normal for it to not power up with out that?
+RandomReels Yes, you will need the din cable to complete the circuit for the stereo, I believe without it you won't have any power at all. It's a 2 cable process! I would also have you check out the updated video linked in the comments, I get in more depth on how to properly wire the connections!
Sadly no, the amp is what powers the speakers inside your vehicle, so without it, you wouldn't be able to hear any sound. So I suggest searching for a Pre-Owned Amp for the vehicle, Model Number: MR400692

The cable the runs from the amp is called a DIN cable, that's the blue, white, grey, and purple connectors. you plug the din kit into the original connector, and solder the wires from the din kit to the wiring kit/harness.

All I am looking for is how to install a radio. This video doesn't tell you how to remove the dash and install a radio...at all. Such a waste. Kept talking about wire he already connected.
+Channing Voss Sorry about that spam, I was using my phone at the time to post. And the whole reason for me replacing the stereo was the original stereo doesn't work, the connectors on the face plate were shot, so even if I found it, I wouldn't sell you a broken unit
+Channing Voss Oh, okay I know what you mean, that's the amplifier, mine does work, it gave power to my stereo but the buttons on the head unit didn't function. Though, I won't sell it because without it, you won't have any power running to the head unit. And the model number is in fact MR400692
