@@Kenzi1000 hey thanks for reaching out I wish you all the best. I recommend using some kind of interactive site like a khan academy for quizzing on these subjects. Jason's lecturing tho is top notch. I did test into calculus but decided to take precalc anyway. I am more than prepared. I just want to have even more rigorous knowledge.

Look how straight his lines of writing are, how straight (not wiggly, and not slanted) the lines as graphic elements are. Look how consistently spaced everything is, and how neither over-crowded nor scattered. Even some very good online teachers are less than optimal in this regard. I know that that is not the point, but it does suggest orderly thinking as well respect for the audience. Even with the sound off you would know that this is a true educator. (edit: He could make up his mind how to write "1". But still, what I said.)

Complex fractions are simply fractions divided by fractions. Let f(x) = a fraction(s) Let g(x) = a fraction(s) So, f(x)/g(x) is a complex fraction where g(x) cannot be 0.

V to minus two minus u to minus two can be factored to the sum of two squares. That leaves u to minus one plus v to minus one that equals v plus u over vu. Or one over v plus one over u.

@@MathAndScience can you explain why you could factor out the -1? Because i thought whatever you do to the denominator you have to do to the numerator? Why wasnt the numerator multiplied by -1 also?
@therealjuan6184
@therealjuan6184 3 года назад
@@dejarenee5864He didn't add anything new to the equation when he factored out the negative 1. Lets say you have negative 5 divided by 2; that is the exact same as (negative 1 times 5) divided 2. In other words, you only have to do it to top and bottom if you are adding a new number or new variable. Factoring out a negative doesnt add anything new, it just changes how it looks for convenience. Even simpler: (negative 5) is equal to (negative 1 times 5)

So you cross cancelled one U squared and one V squared away but why couldn't you cross cancel the other side?
@elbeantako8411
@elbeantako8411 2 года назад
The terms he cancelled he is multiplying U and V. The other side he is subtracting U from V so the rules on exponents are different.

Thanks so much for your video. In the last problem, you canceled out the uv and the squares on the u sq'd times v sq'd, but how come you weren't able to do the same with v sq'd minus u sq'd and v-u? When I did this problem on my own, I ended up with v-u/uv instead of v+u/uv like you had.
@sammaths2324
@sammaths2324 3 года назад
I agree, His method of getting difference of two squares leave = v+u/uv but if you do what you're saying you get = v-u/uv which I am also confused with?
@jonwill

@@sammaths2324 I believe the subtraction sign of the other two terms disallow the factoring you mention. Only valid in this context with multiplied terms.

Not bad but would be better without the rattle on that doesnt explain the solution to the problem. e.g. at 18:25 theres rattle on about students getting crazy mixed up etc which does nothing but to take the focus away from the problem solving aspect which in my mind at least then would cause a student to lose concentration on the problem at hand. Not a bad idea to explain wherer a student may get mixed up to another educator but the student doesnt need the focus taken away from the problem so often. Otherwise pretty good explanation.
