Part of the OST for Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Odyssey of the Celestial Ark Made by: Akira Miyagawa and Horishi Miyagawa Full playlist: • Space Battleship Yamat...
True story - some years ago I was on a flight to Tokyo from Heathrow and sat in business surrounded by very serious looking japanese businessmen - as soon as the In Flight Entertainment, half of them started scrolling through the selection to find Yamato and watch the series
When my buddies and I all sailed out in Yamatos on console WOWS i started whistling this. My friend just said "you are obsessed with that anime." In my defense I had just finished 2199 and 2202...still reeling from the tear jerking endings. Ready for 2205 this fall
rip mamaru kodai, who lived in the original show that was given to american audiences, star blazers, also, my source is the briefly shown Netflix version
@@BrokenAngelWings Yeah. But GK can't rip your bow into fucking pices if you refuse to die to a neverending secondary hail. The 460's of Yamato do just that
I like the pace of this version, compared to the later, faster version. It's easy to forget that layering tracks creates complexity, and that creating tracks full of content, prevents aspects from standing out. The violin clearly stands out with the main theme, while the brass is allowed to fill and swell at key moments at a pace that lets the listener appreciate what it's building up to.
Best anime saga of its genre, best in this millenium. I've seen all episodes uncut when I resided in Europe. There will be never an anime that can rival it or even hold a candle to it. It is a true gem. Getting tears now and must go! Yamato/Argo Hasshin, forever in our hearts!!
@@yeetersnitzel6351 This anime is responsible of the making of many, many scifi animes such as evangelion, macross, gundam It's the same as dragon ball or hokuto no ken, being the starting point for a lot of anime sagas and genres You probably never heard of it, and thats not uncommon. It was first released in 1974 and meanwhile is not too popular in the western, it is starwars-like famous in Japan specially considering the battleship Yamato was a symbol of might to the imperial japanese navy
@@yeetersnitzel6351 Then it's your loss and I truly recommend that you watch it because there is nothing out there that can compare to this Japanese masterpiece, unique gem of a kind. You will not be disappointed. An incredible saga that will give you chills, stir emotions, thrills and an adrenaline rush like never experienced and of course endless tears at times. I watched the original series uncut and all episodes over 40 years ago while living in Italy. There many of us hardcore fans around the world. What I'm saying to you is just the tip of the iceberg, so please watch it all. You will be glad with no regrets.
@@actarusfleed6607 LoGH certainly compares, and in many ways it outshines Yamato. Let's be real here, Yamato isn't a bad series, but it's a celebration of the Japanese military, with Japan being the dominant country in the world. It's a fantasy, where emotions somehow always end up being correct over rationality, even in the military. The chain of command is a running joke in Yamato, as is treason. Anyone can do anything they want so long as they achieve results. It's not a bad show, but it's very far from perfect.
I just put this video in loop mode so that I can listen this song for a few hours straight without interruptions. I'm in music heaven! Even if I'm not Japanese, I try to do my best singing it. One day my son overheard me singing it loud like Isao Sasaki and thought that I was crazy, but a good crazy! He never heard me singing in Japanese and I told him son, if you only knew what this music and anime is all about. He found out and replied, dad I have no words and got emotional.
It just works. The fanfare intro, the choir singing, the shanty-like verses, a freaking battleship! To me, this theme is my all time favorite anime theme.
SAME! Star Blazers was the true gateway! And I will say this as one of the oldest school of old-school fans - YAMATO 2199 IS HOW YOU DO A PROPER REMAKE!!!!
Same.... And I had no idea what Anime even was. I just knew that StarBlazers (and soon after, Robotech) were two programs that didn't insult my intelligence at at age of 7 or so. Seemed like every other show of the time had stupid villains that often lost because they were evil and thus weren't a threat at all. So the stakes meant nothing. You knew the "good guys" would always win, so what was the point? And then there was StarBlazers....... It was a formative moment when the captain actually died. My American kid brain at the time was so accustomed to last minute salvation for those pure of heart that kidbrain.exe stopped working for a second. Like, "Wait, no, they're supposed to earn a cure for him because he's the good guy..... wat" It was beautiful. And the second season (Comet Empire) was too. Leagues ahead of anything else available for me as a kid.
Magnificent, can never get enough of this anime, Imagine my surprise when thinking 2202 was the last one, I found 2205, and learned a fourth is in the works.
This WAS my soap opera as a child lol!!!! I don't care it will always be Star Blazers for me. Come on think, that's what we knew it as . Nevertheless, I'm gonna download the ring tone. Thanks for the memories.
(Season One - Intro) We’re off to outer space We’re leaving mother Earth To save, the human race Our Star Blazers Searching for a distant star Heading off to Iscandar Leaving all we love behind Who knows what dangers we’ll find We must be strong and brave Our home we have to save If we don’t in just one year Mother Earth will disappear Fighting with the Gamalons We won’t stop until we’ve won Then we’ll return and when we arrive The Earth will survive with our Star Blazers (Season Two - Intro) We’re off to outer space Protecting mother Earth To save, the human race Our Star Blazers Danger lurking everywhere But we know we’ve got to dare Evil men with evil Schemes They can’t destroy our dreams We must be strong and brave To stop his evil ways If Zordon plot should work He’ll destroy the universe We’ll fight the comet empire Battle through the raging fire Filled with the hope that Earth will survive We’ll keep peace alive with our Star Blazers
Well, not exactly. Those lyrics are from "occidental" version of Space Battleship Yamato's main theme, even the series wasn't called "Space Battleship Yamato" but instead was called "Star Blazers"
Praise the Japanese for creating so many wonderful anime series. God bless them! Thank you for this marvelous upload RickyTheRedFox. The violin just strikes the chords at my heart and soul and is making me, a grown man cry like a child, like a toddler. Wonderful rendition.
I mean, we should praise: Leiji Matsumoto, Yoshinobu Nishizaki, and Eiichi Yamamoto. Praising the rest of Japan makes about as much sense as thanking the entire US for the MCU or DCEU.
I played this in Beat Saber the other day and I have been trying to find just the audio on RU-vid. Thanks for uploading! I'm going to be using for a Space-Themed D&D I've been running with friends
Dude! 1. Thank you so much for this piece! Hard to get lol. 2. If at all possible, please upload the Final Yamato OST. Can't find it anywhere (except for a few pieces).
Luan Luna First of all thank you, this is exactly the reason I uploaded the OST because I couldn't find it and I wanted people to listen to such a good soundtrack. P.s I'll see what I can do about the 2199 soundtrack ;)
RickyTheRedFox Awesome! The soundtracks for the 3 original series were recently removed and it flat out killed my SBY playlist lmao. There is still a 2199 playlist around but it would be nice to have a back-up just in case it gets removed haha.
Anchors aweigh Away we go On a voyage to the unknown On the Space Battleship Yamato The power to heal our planet's scars Waits for us at Iscandar So we risk our lives on this turbulent sea of stars For the green earth For the blue sky We set out knowing we may die So our people's eternal seed Won't be crushed by foreigners' greed Sailing to a distant star Far away to Iscandar We have the strength to go that far Space Battleship Yamato
Ever since getting caught up with this anime series, I can say this with ease over- Space Battleship Yamato < Star Wars VIII: Last Jedi. And this is a kickass theme rendition of the original opening for the SBY 2199: OotCA I just recently watched :)
@@quocvinhnguyen2063 I would've liked it if the Ginga never EVER appeared, it pissed me off so much, creating a replacement to the Yamato, like how dare they, even with a crew that hates them, wtaf lol...
So while I was in my Zaku 2 going 3x faster than a normal Zaku I stopped to take a drink and I saw this massive ship which had looked to be the Yamato from World War Two and I saw some bullet h tv ingat flight other green things I wonder if it’s this Pls tell me in comments this is char
is it weird that if it's a battleship (especially Yamato) I would like it... is it just me or Iowa gave me something I shouldn't have had... (USS Iowa is the first warship I ever liked)
