I have the GR 2120 which is Kubotas diesel lawn tractor. It has the glide steer feature which I just love. The glide steer is a system of a rod on each side running from the rear axle to the front. In either direction., the inside turning side, the rod will move to disengage a clutch on the inside drive wheel. This allows the unit to make a really tight turn. Once the unit turns back into straight, the clutch tee gages and it is once again in 4wd. The unit is super easy on fuel. Very easy to service. My only complaint is the treadle pedal. I also have a John Deere GX 335. Also with a 54 inch deck. This is the better end of Deere’s line. It has the side by side pedals , which I much prefer. It just is a much more natural use of my feet for operation than the single pedal. Even though the Deere mower is a very good mower, the Kubota will put perform it. Very good job on this comparison. I’ve got two BX2200’s. They are still going strong . They have been through some rough stuff too. The fuel filter setup isn’t the best I will agree. My fuel pump solenoid went out . I thought my fuel filters were clogging up . I took out the solenoid and it worked fine . If you take it out you will have too manually cut it off though the fuel pump . The electrical is lacking but the motor and driveline are very stout .
I have the newest version of the BX. I have the BX2680-1. Only difference really is the color of all the control knobs has changed and they're more ergonomic and supposedly more UV resistant as well. I also have the 60" mid-mount mower which I just picked up yesterday. I did the setup and install of the mower myself, quite time consuming, but now that its setup its pretty easy to install and remove. The mower works great, and cuts great, only thing I'm noticing is it don't throw the grass out the discharge side very far, like it don't have enough lift/vacuum under the deck to blow the clippings out hardly...might have to check into some different blades with a higher lift style, other than that it works great. I'm coming up on my 50 hour initial service and will be changing all the fluids, filters, etc. Should be a fun day spent doing all that LOL. I also agree with those filters, you'd think for the cost of the machine it would have a much better fuel filter...I know a few people on youtube are using a different Kubota filter system and once my tractor is out of warranty I'll probably switch to it as well for ease of maintenance. I have a set of adjustable stabilizers for my BX that I ordered from Messick's, much easier to deal with simply pull a pin and set them where you want them. I also have the quick hitch, I don't have to fiddle with the 3 point stabilizers at all, simply backup to and implement, lift the 3 point, and flip 2 levers on the quick hitch and drive away...unless its my tiller then I have to get off and hookup the PTO, but otherwise, its a better way to go. Also, your old BX2200 had what's called a "Limited" Category 1 hitch. It took different attachments/implements due to the difference in the lift height as you noticed between the newer model.
My bx2200 will eject the grass an astounding 15-20 feet out the chute. The blades you use make a difference. I use mulching blades that have a sharp upward curve at the end of the blades and this helps to create more suction and move more air thus blow more.
Thanks for the video. I have a BX2200 and have been toying with the idea of getting a new BX. My BX has a loader so the decision to get or not get a new BX is harder. Nothing wrong with my old BX, still runs fine with 2400 hours. But.... man..... a new shiny one would be nice and would probably be the last one I ever buy.
I am not surprised to hear of 2400 hours on the clock. Supposedly that's the same engine they use in many semi refrigerated trailers that run thousands of hours per year. How is the hydro trans holding up?
@@williams6262 The hydro is still going strong with no problems. I am not exactly easy on it but I do know the dos and donts. Like I dont jam the diff lock in while the tractor is moving under heavy loads. The rear axle lip seals are leaking and the boots are torn on the input shaft. This winter Im going to rebuild the input shaft and fix the lip seals........ other than that...... I guess Im just going to keep running her.
