Kubota BX2230 vs BX2380 a comparison of the two tractors. The 2230 is 12 years old but look at how good it looks with 451 hours on it. The 2380 is brand new. Thought I would show the changes with the replacement tractor.

Wow, great job on the video. Your 2005 BX2230 looks hardly used. You've done a great job keeping it up.

That 2230 was only built for two years they tell me. I’ve had mine for 16 years and still love it. It has over 1200 hrs and what a time saver it has been. They are great machines. Great video.

Thank you! I have a BX2230 that is the best "tool" I've ever had (since 2003). I may not ever need to replace it, but I like many of the changes Kubota has incorporated into the BX2380.

We just traded in a BX2230 for a BX 23S, really nice upgrade for sure, but like you, I'm not a fan of the plastic shroud on the mower and the pulley covers. Never thought about taking them off to keep that area clean, so thanks for that tip as well as the battery cover shroud. You should fetch a nice price out of the 2230, well done on maintaining so nice. Thanks for video.

My bx steel deck chute is bashed to hell and i keep bending it back but its shape is long gone years ago. But the deck is a beast. Mowing around the farm is not open enough for it.

Thanks Chuck. I am a picky person and it helps for resale also. Can't see not taking care of expensive equipment and if you stay up on maintaining stuff it doesn't take long to keep it that way. It's when you let things pile up that they go to hell quickly. I always kept it clean too by using "Clean & Shine" spray cleaner. Use it on my car and motorcycle too.

So which are you liking better? For a man in the market for a unit such as these would you shop for a clean used 2230 or up to the new 2380??? Kudos to you for taking care of your equipment.
@starastronomer
@starastronomer 6 лет назад
Definitely like the new one better. As far as which to buy it depends on what you are willing to spend. If you can go for the 2380 I would buy it. A clean, well taken care of 2230 would be an excellent choice too.

Talking about your lights...you should switch out to LED's. Much, much better than halogens. I did that with mine and I have been very pleased...and it's much safer if you ever do work out by the road in dim light.

Do you have the number of the bulbs I need?
@chrislaswell5572
@chrislaswell5572 6 лет назад
I do. It took quite a few "trial and error/return" tries for me to find the right ones. All of the bulbs I got fit but some were brighter than others, some looked "yellow", etc. But my pain is your gain...haha. BTW - These are great. Since the headlights are just daytime running lights for cars and the others are low voltage bulbs all you need to do is switch the bulbs. No resistors, modulators, etc. Couldn't be simpler. Anyway, here are the bulbs: Headlight (896 base): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LZ4NOQN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Hazard lights (amber) (2 sets): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JFH6TL2/ref=pd_sbs_263_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=R35F72SBYH4R9D6XTWPZ Taillights (red): www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/miniature-wedge-base/921-led-bulb-19-smd-led-miniature-wedge-retrofit-car/1563/#/tab/Specifications Make sure you get the amber hazards and the red taillights. They will look a lot better and make a HUGE difference. You'll be happy.
@chrislaswell5572
@chrislaswell5572 6 лет назад
BTW - I have a BX1870-1 but I checked it for you and the 80-series tractors have the same bulbs. So follow the links, order the bulbs, and off you go. Cheers!

I just noticed that the amber bulbs are no longer available. It has been a couple of years so I guess I should have checked that. Anyway, you need the 1156 base and it looks like there are many others out there to choose from. Just get them from Amazon and if you don't like them send them back. Easy enough. The other bulbs are still available though. Good luck!

Measure the chute and give measurements to Paul Short. He has a new plasma table and may be able to fabricate you one. If its the same as his bx25d, he may just replicate you something. Check out his videos and tell him I referred you. He is a die-hard kubota guy. He is making a lot of bx, bx25, and bx23s stuff that he's selling. I noticed you didn't have a toolbox. I actually had a mf gc1710 and ordered the kubota bx3085 rops toolbox that fit mine perfect. It'd be a nice addition to your baby tractor. I am considering a new bx23s as my new toy, once I get straightened out. GOD Bless.

Not sure what you mean? I am only comparing the two tractors separated by 13 yrs. Also, how well that old tractor has been taken care of. I got $5000.00 for a 13 yr old tractor. Even the dealer who saw it when my new one was delivered says he doesn't see them like this. Most people just do not take care of things like this. As to upgrade...I bought it because I wanted it, not because I had to replace my tractor. Also, the new one does have features the old one didn't.
@ad356
@ad356 5 лет назад
@@starastronomer all i am saying is the drivelines are identical its not like you would see a performance gain. you took exceptional care of that machine. the mower deck looks like brand new. my bx2350 is in good shape, i just bought it a month ago. i also have the curtis cab with heater and 46" meteor snowblower attachment. i changed all of the fluids within a week of ownership. the tractor has 403 hours on it. the cab has some rust clean up but its not in real bad shape. i cant wrap my head around people that spend allot of money on a quality machine and then cant even be bothered to change the fluids
@starastronomer
@starastronomer 5 лет назад
Maintenance is a huge part of longevity on anything, you are correct that fluids are a part of that.
@ad356
@ad356 5 лет назад
@@starastronomer arent fluids, filters, and grease the biggest part of maintenance? one thing i do with my tractor, after EVERY mowing i put it up on ramps and hose the underneath of the mower clean. if you do this after every mowing do you not get a build up. the grass will literally fall off the deck, its when you let it go week after week and it turns into that nasty cake...... the buildup then rots, creates heat and rots the deck as bad as a salt covered street in the winter. keeping the deck clean will make it last forever.
