Hey Jimbo. I just passed my P1 drivers test in Tuncurry, first go and got 100%. Was a rollercoaster as on the previous day the car was declared unroadworthy due to a so called “bald tyre”. The test was postponed for the next day for a dedicated day of testing on Saturday. Thanks to your video’s I was able to further my driving knowledge and ability and pass.

9:00 - Not sure on the rule that says you can cross unbroken lines if you are giving bikes extra space. I have always thought that you can never cross unbroken lines at all. The reason why the lines are unbroken is because it generally means that you cannot see into the other lane (e.g. going around a corner, you would not cross unbroken lines just to give bikes extra space, you would just have to wait for a different space to overtake). 11:20 - I did not even see the car the first time. However, it looks like there is a significant glare from the sun in the top of the video (unless that is an artifact of the video recording? - the view from the camera attached to the front windshield, not the view that the driver would actually see). Anyway, I would not have been driving so fast into glare.

Hey Jimbo, if I am heading towards a set of traffic lights and I need to indicate into turning lane from right lane would I need to do a head check ?

Hey jimbo, can't find a straight answer for this anywhere, when turning left into a multi-lane intersection from a one lane road, do I have to turn into the leftmost lane? I normally see drivers disregard this and it seems a bit impractical if there are parked cars in the left lane or I need to make a right turn shortly after. Thanks mate

Dear Jimbo, I'm doing my test on Friday in Newcastle NSW, And to say I'm nervous would be an understatement, I've been told by my peers that I'm a fine driver and that my dad even went as far as to praise himself and say he "did a good job teaching me" lol, But I'm worried about self-sabotage, Whenever I'm under pressure I tend to mess things up that I'm reasonably confident with, I really don't want this to happen this Friday so I will continue to watch your videos and try and practice as much as possible, Cheers

I passed at blacktown thanks to u second go tho had a lesson before my first test but the instructor was hopeless and didn't help me at all(was my first lesson ever) but before my second test I watched all ur vids and got my ps

Hey Jimbo, I last example you mentioned that you have to give a 1.5 m gap to cyclist. But then because of incoming vehicle you just slowdown without giving a space. Isn't it against the 1.5 m rule?

Hey Jimbo, I just passed my P1 driving test today at Bankstown #1stGo. whoho! I got score of 110/112. Just two positioning error, otherwise I got 100% on all other categories. I did my test at 7:45am. The traffic was calm at first and got bit busy near the end of the test. It was drizzling a bit but nothing bad. Thank you so much for your videos, they were extremely helpful. For future test students, i think a positioning video from you would be very useful.

I watched close to all your videos leading up to the test and it’s safe to say, your videos helped me not only pass my Ps test, but to become a better driver and to get closer to my dream job, which is to become a bus driver. I do agree that hazard perception test is not realistic because everyone has variabilities in reaction time or how good a cars brakes are and their prediction on when to start to slow and come to an complete stop.

Why can't I book a test right now? Logged onto website, enter details but the driving test booking selection is greyed out.

Great job of summarising the most important aspects of hazard perception Jimbo! I had a few mock tests online at vicroads before and it just simply can’t simulate a real world situation preoperly, especially with by clicking mouse buttons. As a complementary source of info it might be useful but definitely not enough just like you pointed it out. It comes with practice and developing these skills on the road. Cheers

While I was practicing this morning, a lady stood straight in the middle of the pedestrian crossing whilst playing on her phone and she did not move for 1 minute. I had to honk at her to get her to move. If this EVER happens again on my test, what would be the appropriate response? Thank you!!

Hi Jimbo! I wish i could've watched this video a month ago...I was booked in to do a safer driver course but then my area had a natural disaster and I couldn't even call to cancel it in advance. As soon as I got phone reception back I called up to say I missed the course because of a natural disaster and asked to rebook it, and they said no because I didn't call in advance, and I lost the hundred or so dollars that it cost. Your videos are much better, thank you so much for sharing your insights!
