Please excuse the stutter, some days I’m good some days I’m not haha.
Recently I posted a video outlining the basics of what it takes to 05+ Super Duty axle swap an OBS Ford. I got a lot of positive feedback and people who wanted a better video with less noise, understandably so. Here’s the video, sorry for the length, if anybody wants me to go over anything in better detail or with more clarity let me know in the comments below! Thanks for watching and leave me a like! =)

Good looking truck, really clean for a Canadian truck. I have a couple different trucks and all of them are rusted to hell.

I want to do a 12V swap on this. I plan to put a ZF6 in as well. But I told myself I’d wait till this engine gives up. No use on being wasteful haha. Although I might be waiting a while at 288,000km (178k mi) on the odometer. These are really dirt simple and reliable tho.

Glad I came across this video. I just purchased a 95 f250 2wd just like this, 351w 5 speed. No I know what to look for to get the job done on the 4wd conversion. I can't wait to start.
@ReindeerBork
@ReindeerBork Год назад
Glad I could help! Be aware with the 351w the rear diff yoke may be smaller than the 4x4 counterpart so if you aren’t swapping axles/just doing an OBS 4x4 conversion pay attention to that and try to snag a yoke from a 4x4 when you get the driveshaft. Let me know if you have any other questions (:

I will be doing the 05+ swap and also 08+ rear leafs. Was your truck 2wd to begin with?
@ReindeerBork

@@MuscleCarGarage2022 yes mine was 2wd to begin with. I plan to upgrade my rear leafs but want to wait till I can pull the bed off and do the fuel pick up mod, and clean up the frame a bit at the same time.

so i have a 87 250 2wd i want to do this swap with. i have the arms and brackets but i do not have the coil buckets. my local yards don't have any around. i was wondering if i could use my 2wd buckets and springs that i already have without issue?? i am not looking to lift it just want to make a 4x4 thanks for the great video!!

It was a long time ago when I researched this so sorry, I do recall seeing a 2wd spring on one but it was also a van so that’s why I say I’m not sure. And I never followed up on that feed so I don’t really know if it ended up working out (apart from fitting)

great job! thanks for the info. what size tires are you running and do you have any bump steer with the track bar placement?
@ReindeerBork
@ReindeerBork 2 года назад
I’m running “Factory” sized tires 225/80R17. I don’t have bump steer per-say but I have found when the back “jumps” over a big bump unloaded on empty tanks it’s a little more noticeable than with the IFS front end.

I’d like to do this to mine. The factory steel wheels look good on it. What size tires is that

I'd like to do an axle swap on my 02. Where would you recommend finding the best condition donor axles? Thanks
@ReindeerBork
@ReindeerBork 2 месяца назад
Look for a rolling chassis from a salvage truck. It’ll have everything you need. Where will depend on your area tho

I have everything to do my swap now. I have been referencing your videos a lot to help me put it together. I thank you for that. I do have a question about the track bar mount. Did you use the superduty mount or something different. How did it go mounting it up. I see you can buy brackets for the track bar that are pre fabbed to fit but thats a little out of the budget right now. If i could use the 05 bracket i would like to. Thanks again!!
@ReindeerBork
@ReindeerBork Год назад
I highly suggest buying a pre-fab or fabricating your own (IF YOU HAVE THE SKILLSET). The OEM 05-07 mount only works with a ton of trimming to clear the pitman arm, that’s what I did I’m not a fan of how much I had to trim or the clearance I have (Basically none). I’ll be fabricating my own (Once I have the time) as I’d like to address it as soon as possible.

@@ReindeerBork thank you that's what I needed to hear. probably will just get the prefab one so the project can move on a bit faster. any company's you would recommend if you happen to know of any?? Thanks again!!!!

@ReindeerBork Год назад
@@jadenwaltonn8332 Suggestion is go with what fits your budget, they’re all decent and they all have shortcomings. A handful of people have had issues with “Weld” quality on some brands however I believe all of them will have these issues with heavy abuse as they all use the same fillet joints and welding process. If I had to choose one it’d be Ryd’s because I’m in Canada, if I were in the states I’d probably choose Blowing Diesel’s

nice work! what did you do for rear brake lines?
@ReindeerBork
@ReindeerBork 2 года назад
I used the factory 08 flex line to the frame, cut my hard line used the 08 fitting and re-flared the end. If your lines are super rusty I’d either use a fitting adapter or just replace them. For parking cable I used 3 cable clips with loctite to tie them together haha…

What did you do to your vacuum lines on the front axle?
@ReindeerBork
@ReindeerBork 2 года назад
I just put manual hubs on and capped the nipple. If you had ESOF originally or retrofit it to yours I’m sure you could easily tie it into the existing vacuum system with little effort. But because I have a manual trans and manual transfer case manual hubs works for me. I just leave them locked in if I think I’ll need them, with the double cardan SD driveshaft I have no vibrations even on the highway.

Do you have a part number for that front flange on your transfer case
@ReindeerBork
@ReindeerBork 2 года назад
I will see if I can find it, all I know is you’re looking for the Rear Flange from a Bronco’s BW1356. But I know they can be a little pricey if you buy new. I bought a whole T-case for $100CAD and just stole the yoke off it.
@ReindeerBork

I believe the right PN is: E7TZ-7B214-C However be careful cause I’ve seen flanges for the BW 4407 listed under that PN but I believe that PN is actually: F5TZ-7B214-B
