I think Boston 2001 elevation tour concert was peak of U2 era cus when they launched "all that u cant leave behind" it put them back on the map and they won a bunch of awards.
@@LegacyArts. you really think their Boston concert of 2001 was peak U2? cmon. watch Red Rocks 83, or Live Aid 85. hell.... even Rattle & Hum.... Bono was a beast in the 80's
@@coldacre oh dont get me wrong, those concerts were really amazing as well. Red Rock's bono and energy are just off the charts. Rattle and hum's Helter Skelter was an amazing rendition. & even Zoo Station was not that bad. Not the biggest Pop fan. But I think each concert showcased u2's progress to success and also gave us a look at their talent. Trust me. I also love all of them and the do play a special place in my heart, but I'm saying cinematographically and melody-wise they really had a great show and the playlist was also amazing in 2001s. I think slane deff had great titles too, (not played on 2001 Elevation tour) and same can be said for 2005's Chicago vertigo tour. Each one giving something new and innovative from the band, but for me 2001 Elevation's tour will hold a high place always cus their relaunch + new style & catchy songs that resonated with a lot of ppl during that time after the 01 incident in NYC if u catch my drift. Idk there was something about them singing during this time that made it very unique and special.
I just had my 66th birthday. First heard this song over 40 years ago. I still can't sit still when I hear it! Thanks to U2 for the wonderful music over the years!
"My old man, 500 pounds. I want to thank my old man for that 500 pounds!" Gets me every time. My late father paid 500 dollars for my first drum set, and I still play. For that, I'm eternally grateful to him. RIP Dad and Mr. Bob Hewson.
Fathers who encourage their sons to play music are special and rare. I will forever have that one of a kind bond with my dad because of him believing in me
After my dad died in April and I was seeing his writings, it reminded me that somehow, someway my love of writing poetry started with him. :’) we can absolutely pass down the best of ourselves to our kids if we so choose. Thanks dad.
After 2 years how many more times have you watched it? This is.... a special song for sure and a special performance, the bits from the DVD that this doesnt have are so touching.
Yep. And probably their best concert overall. At least the best I’ve seen committed to film. This was their prime. One and All I Want + Streets was epic at Slane too.
All of you real fans have probably already noticed it, but I’m a bit dull. I believe that’s the same guitar the Edge is playing as when they played at Red Rocks.
This is the greatest moment in the bands history...and one of the saddest. This gig was a sermon to his father...stunning moment in my life when i saw this gig
Binging on live U2 during lockdown makes me feel less alone. The atmosphere even after 20 years is so electric, I feel like I’m there with all the joyous people.
I wanna thank Thin Lizzy for letting U2 open up for them. I wanna thank Mr. Hewson, Mr. Evans, Mr. Clsyton, and Mr. Mullen for letting their boys realize this amazing dream of creating this beautiful band!
I saw these 4 BRILLIANT!!!!! musicians over 40 years ago and back then I knew this band would be one of the biggest bands of all time. I'm 65 now and I still love them. THE BEST!!!!!!
I have this DVD , this DVD inspired me to go and see them play live at Edihad Stadium in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 The greatest sounding band in the world
What I love about this video is that at 4:50 when the song kicks in, the entire crowd are going insane. Not just the people down the front, but all 80,000 of them! Insane scenes!
For a band that could barely play their instruments when they started they have made such an incredible journey. Amazing! Thank you for your music that touches our souls and hearts Long live U2!!!!
Best gig ever . The boys rocked it that night , fucking mental , a few yrs later nme voted this gig in the top 10 of all time . I worked hard myself to afford the flight , ticket and it paid of for me.
This is just so fucking great! I first saw U2 in 1983 here in L.A. on the WAR tour with the Alarm opening. I was 17 and it completely changed my life in such a powerful way! Watching this now brings tears to my eyes and I'm not ashamed to admit that all these years later. They're a very special band and they always will be.
Larry Mullen jr. one of my favourite drummers ever. So original and precise and he really digs it. Adam is awesome too. No beating round the bush, they hold the sound building for the edge spacey guitars and bono´s vocals.
I mean, the album version of this is no slouch IMHO. But yeah, quite a few of their songs are better live than in the studio versions. IE the "Wide Awake In America" version of "Bad" and the "U2360 at the Rose Bowl" version of "Ultraviolet (Light My Way)".
The irony is that Bono is always in complete control of both the band and the crowd. I have loved this song ever since I first bought the album “Boy” way back in 1980. Such raw energy and charisma exploded out of the speakers…and they’ve still got it!
What a flawless performance; They're so comfortable with each other. I've definitely given them at least 500 pounds and I'll keep on giving for these guys; They're worth it!
It's amazing how bono holds the band at 4:40. You can see he raises his hand and Adam and Edge keeps looking at it holding the note until he raises it down :)
Nothing to do with his hand. Its Larry. When he goes to four on the floor with his kick drum is when they come back in. Make no mistake. Larry is the conductor in this band😀
What a tune. What a gig. And don't forget Bono asking us to thank Jasan Mcateer for his goal against Holland, sending us to the World Cup in South Korea. Great times.
I hated U2 as a kid, my best mate was a super fan but I just didn't get it however, he bought me a ticket to see them in 1993 at Roundhay Park in Leeds. I had an epiphany that day, off my face on weed and stella artois, they were spectacular, I've seen U2 11 times since that day, I'm by no means a super fan but they are without doubt the best band I've seen outdoors 👍
I was at this gig in 2001 and watching it back, the main thing I notice is that nobody in the crowd is holding up a damn cellphone. Those were the days!
I didn't knew this song before I saw Slane Castle DVD 20 years ago. I remember that amazing WTF moment :D Its so raw, so pure and so amazing! Larry is a phenomenal drummer!!! Edge's guitar sound is incredible and Adam's always relaxing face with that bass!!! Ohhh God!
One of the best songs by u2, ironically their first single, they have had some greats since but hard to meet the power from this. I play it to my son as it is so inspirational an Irish boy who has to make it in the big bad world
This was an incredible performance. Especially for Bono, you can hear his heartache while performing this dedication to his then ailing father. Bless Bono and his father. I like to think that is now resting in peace. "You can't fight fate" is the absolute truth, kind sir!
Dude me too! I drawn a picture of Bono in this concert in 2007, as of that time this song I never heard till I bought this. Sicken coming from a die hard u2 fan. Makes me pissed off actually lol
🥇version of Out of Control and most powerful song in the entire concert. Edge's solo is something mere words can't even go close to describe. I can just feel an "Electrical Storm" up and down my spine. Really not much to say. U2 the GOAT. #🥇U2♾ P.S(*Fun but essential fact. He's called "The Edge" because you just can't go further. Thank you.)
Saw them June 27, 1983 with Marshall Crenshaw and the Alarm at the New Haven Coliseum. They opened with this. Half full auditorium but they rocked it!!
