@@gernoasje His voice was impeccable at this concert in particular - the timbre was rich and gorgeous, and how he was able to do it days after his dad passed, amazes me. Singing when you're on the verge of tears is near impossible. Just astonishing
I will always remember my old man with this song. Though he passed away in 2020, this song is for him too. Love it. This one's for you, Gonzalo Rodríguez.
The best U2 song ever written. Performed beautifully by the band at Slane Castle. You can feel the emotion of that performance. A stunning piece of video!
It makes me cry everytime I see this performance. Bono had buried his father right before this show. I lost my father a while back and to hear this version in particular brings me back to when my father was alive to the moment when we lowered the casket.
@TheDiRomatti You are so right, 'kite' is so powerfull and just an honest song . When both my parents died in 2005 (I was 32), 'kite' gave me the strenght to carry on with my life without parents . Since then I listen to 'kite' at least once a day and when I'm feeling down, 'kite' just makes my day better . I think about my parents while listening to 'kite' and I just know that they are happy right now . It's hard to discribe, but 'kite' is such a healing song to me . God bless U2 . !!
his Father Bob had just died before this concert. It is hard to say Goodbye...This concert was nearly cancelled, but Paul Hewson said, I have to sing...and sing with such raw emotion he did...
Man, i nearly cry just watching. This performance is simply stunning. In his position i couldn't hold it together, singing about someone so important in your life and effectively making this your "last goodbye". Unreal, just unreal.
+Venu Vinod Damaraju I think the funeral had been like the day before or something. Talk about having to compose yourself. Can't imagine doing something like this right after my Dad's funeral.
Paul Murtagh How Bono was able to maintain any sense of composure during this concert, I will never know. Especially during "Kite" and "Out of Control."
ahhh. this video made me cry. the song itself is powerful enough, but you can just hear/feel the emotion in bono's voice and it never fails to make me tear up, especially when he does himself, and when his voice cracks singing the last "goodbye". intense. i wish i was there!
Increíble interpretación de Bono, a tan pocas horas de la partida de su padre, se quiebra su voz... Te hace temblar su expresión, y The Edge ejecuta un solo como solo él puede!! Gracias por esta balada U2, inmortal!! 🎵🇦🇷❤️
what can u sy?? what a heart rippin, tear jerker....but so beautiful too. god bless ya bono, and i know your old man is up there smiling down on you...... i was at the 1st slane gig- a week before this one-(why thet choose to rec this 1 instead?) and it was just the same....his voice bubbled...and a few tears streamed, not just from the man himself.....me and my no 1 bro were crying too...u2 gigs are more than a rock concert..theres a connection with the audience that is "spiritual". peace.G.
In fact, this concert was two days after Bono's father passes away.... Without anydoudt this was one of the most sensitive moments during this concert.... another one was during the song "Out of Control", when Bono thanks his father for lending him money to make the first u2's record in london.
Here are 20 GREAT U2 songs. Put up or shut up. I Will Follow, Out of Control, New Years Day, Drowning Man, Pride, The Unforgettable Fire, Promenade, Bad, MLK, Bullet The Blue Sky, Red Hill Mining Town, In God's Country, All I Want Is You, Even Better Than The Real Thing, One, Until The End Of The World, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, Mysterious Ways, Acrobat, Love Is Blindness Do I REALLY need to go beyond Achtung Baby?
Its amazing these guys have been together over 35 years! Think about it. Where are your friends from 35 years ago? Let alone be in a band and dominate the world and CONSISTANTLY write good music.
how can anyone not like u2 it is like a wine taster hating wine. ive seen all the bands live and please believe me nothing beats a u2 gig. ive been following u2 since 82 when i was lucky enough to get sneaked into tiffanys in glasgow at the age of 15 ive never looked back
I love this song, don't know why, yes sure the lyrics, but it's the atmosphere of the song that really touches me, it is so...intense, the music draws you in...something like that...
i was at this show..my old man had passed away 6 months before.. man this song hit me like a ton of bricks.. the words hit home like no other song id ever heard...
i have seen them once at the u2360 tour, and they were absoloutley incredibley aw inspiringly awesome! i really really really really really really hope that i get another chance to see them live again here in australia! and i really do hope to hear this song live.
a man who sees the shadow behind your eyes I LAUGH at anyone that doesn't recognize U2 as the greatest band ever - better than the Beatles, better than the Stones, better than Pink Floyd. The significant difference between U2 and all the others is U2 makes songs that are so beautiful, I, as a 40 year old man, regularly loses control of my emotions while listening to their songs. SO MUCH heart.
