*READ CAREFULLY:* *Cubase* and *S.O.* they are not getting the plugins artwork form the VSTs at all. Only with their native ones. For the 3rd parties plugins: they get a screenshot of the plugin IF you click on a specific button (a photocamera in Cubase, an arrow in S.O.) and they affiliate the screenshots to the plugin where you clicked over. Stop. What *DON'T* they do? > Customization: not possible (you get what the Steinberg /Presonus give. You can't change (so far) > Responsiveness: not possible (if you pass over with the mouse and click: the picture still the same) > Size Change: you can't size the toolbar as in Reaper you do *CONCLUSION:* No way to customize, so far. Hence: what's declared into the video about the "limitation" of the VST technology and customization power of Reaper: is the real thing

I use a lot of Virtual Instruments, and have already created toolbars for inserting track templates for them. Note: You can create a button on your main toolbar that will launch an auxiliary toolbar (the one with the virtual instruments or amp sims etc.) Also: You can create a custom action to say, 'insert track template #1' + 'close toolbar' and assign this combination to each button/VSTi. This would of course be less useful for an FX toolbar, where you might like to select and add multiple FX. However for toolbars where you simply wish to select a single template or virtual instrument, having the toolbar automatically close after you select the desired action (button) is handy. (though, it will take additional time and effort to setup) I've had a mind to do this for a while now, and already have a folder full of screenshots of my VSTs. The .png trick will save me some time, no doubt. So thank you for that piece of information. Shout out to GIMP. It's a wonderful bit of software. Thank you for the video.

yes you can do many things with. I prefer to keep the toolbars open. It’s a personal choice. It’s gorgeous the way you can customise Reaper to improve your workflow

Thanks. FX Icons in the toolbar are fine. On Ipad with app Metagrid Pro is also an idea.

technically yes practically isn’t a great idea since it requires maintenance and no time for this. What I can do is to publish into the description, the link to your repository. Pay attention they are working as from this tutorial. I no want to publish something behaves differently. It will be quite disorienting for the audience.

Really glad I found this channel! Keep up the good work. Some constructive criticism: the side-chained drums in this video are a bit distracting. The way the snare drums quickly become very loud and then get cut off by side-chain is a little unpleasant to listen to, imo. Not sure if it's because of side-chain or because of choice of music. Maybe a combination of both. I thought I should say this, because your content is awesome!

I just wanted to second this comment, having just watched the tutorial: content-wise it was very useful and to the point right throughout, but the production choice of the music was very off-putting, and almost caused me to abandon it early on. The youtube/pc volume level I needed to catch the speech (and I concede that I'm getting on a bit and my hearing wasn't what it once was) resulted in the drums/music track coming in very loud every few seconds. In any case, have liked the vid and many thanks.

@L Davy I think that something should be said/added on top of these comments. For this video: it is like it is. So: no edit can be done ever. This video borns and dies as it is. For my new policy (and videos): all new videos are clearly coded at -23dB LUFS (it's hard encoded with a declaration write) Back to this video: to my ears, it's not disturbing at all, and the voice is quite louder than the backtrack, so I didn't touched it further. But it seems some other ears have issues with. Hence I decided to go for other methods. On top of this, I add that at the time of this video, I migrated from 15 years Première to DaVinci Studio. The duking is way different. Actually in DaVinci, it's more difficult to keep it under control (it's always very unnatural. I highlighted this also to Blackmagic, but no corrections have being made from the 16.0.0 till today. I hope the 18.5 will be improved but I have some legitimate doubt). Now I got a kind of sweet-spot for the compressor, but I had to change also other parameters before it, to be able to make an audio less distracting. It took a long while to get accomodated. Each time I have made experiments but never thy have satisfied me. As I said I found some way. I hope they will improve this side of the application. Prior to this, I was also preparing all the audios in Reaper then importing the complete composites into DaVinci for the video alignement. But it took longer to complete the editing, since all my videos are bilingual and the work is multiplied by 2 (I make this video s on my free time since I don't gain a penny from YT, keep it in mind). So it was a temporary-go that now is mandatory a no-go.

for the pngs there are not these limitations. Just for jpgs but I told into the video: don't use jpgs. I explained the reasons. With png you do what you want. Just respect the 3 images aside, as I described 😉

I'm stil a bit confused about the size of the PNG. You don't mention that. What size you use for the toolbars? one more question... Does the new PNG get saved in ReaperConfigZip when I back up my theme?

I don't mention because it's not necessary since I told: you can have any dimension. Big as you wish. And it's even sufficient to watch my own toolbars as they are made. Not only I clearly show up *WHERE* the icons should go. Please watch the video carefully. there is an answer to any of your questions

Please Join the Forum and tell this. Since august I asked for a feature that no one paid a shit for. I highlighted to them this ... and what I asked was an automated creation of the action when a plugin is installed. However, as I said, the tutorial is for who needs to do it. WHo doesn't can follow tutorials they need more. So: it's not mandatory :-D Advantage: I can customize everything about the toolbars. Disadvantage: to make 3 full toolbars I employed 3 hours. however: I think that there are tons of ppl they are complaining, and only few of them are writing the complain where it should be: www.cokcos.com ... no actions, no results, no complains ;-) I wish they will make this process: automatic *leaving us* the possibility to customize. That's the way. Meanwhile: there is this method for who needs/wants
