squamous epithelium of tympanic membrane has to grow over handle of malleus,in order to get an intact and mobile tympanic membrane. If malleus handle is not denuded of epithelium this will not happen ,and existing patches of debris if any over malleus,may cause keratin pearls and improper closure of perforation.

Mam can tymphnoplasty be done without any cut mark around the ear ?
