VN24 - 02/07/2022 - Schwerte / Germany - The A1 freeway northbound had to be closed until late at night on Monday (February 7) due to a traffic accident. According to previous findings, a 26-year-old truck driver from Belarus overlooked the end of a traffic jam at 15:22 o'clock and collided with the semitrailer truck of a 33-year-old driver. The force of the impact pushed the 33-year-old's vehicle even further into the truck of a 40-year-old driver in front of him. Two truck drivers were taken to hospitals as a precautionary measure, but were later able to leave them unharmed.
In the traffic accident, a rack with numerous shop windows in one of the trucks came loose and settled on the ground in the trailer. About 22 tons of glass and broken glass had to be pulled out of the back of the vehicle and disposed of at great expense. The cleanup efforts dragged on until about 11:25 p.m. due to a large amount of glass.
