Very true! Last year I had to go to Pakistan embassy ( Toronto) and it was our worst experience! The moment we entered we felt the Pakistani typical mentality! Cut Long story, short they totally refused to deal us and just after a call from “ooper “ we got done with full protocol! Sometimes we ashamed as a Pakistani ! Specially when we are living other country! As an individual we are very successful but as a Pakistani ............... as a nation ??????? I can relate to this. I’m a student and living in New York. I wanted to arrange an event on 14 August mainly to promote tourism in Pakistan and awareness about new E visa policy. I requested consulate if they can provide some souvenirs which I could display on the stall. But didn’t get any help. They don’t care at all.

I remember in early 2000s my older brother was going to Kuwait, my mother sold her Gold Jewelry for him to go and when it was time for medical he did get a positive Hepatitis C in report and surprisingly after "money" was paid he got negative report. It's truly sad that we Pakistanis and south Asians are taught that we are free but from what I read and from what I have heard from my grandparents makes me believe that our lives have not changed much in last hundred years. And the joke on top of that is we are Islamic Country.

In 2015 i was in saudi arabia and i had to renew my passport I went to consulate a day before At night i registered myself in que and slept whole night on footpath a beggar gave me carton packing to lay down And in the morning 4 am i was in que waiting for my turn And waited 5 hours just to cross the gate and enter From 10pm to 12 am i was hungry and struggling just to renew my passport And still i'm in saudi arabia after 7 years i had nothing but 20k in my pakistani account 😒 As lower middle class we can't even think about migration and this is our reality No family no friends we are robots working to fill our kitchen back home

Foreign Consulates are mostly run by retired Army Officers and CSS Officers. They treat all Pakistanis (except rich, famous and their kind) as third class Pakistanis and that is a fact. Nobody can question them and there is no check and balance. Unless foreign appointments will not include thoroughly trained professionals until then we cannot see any change.

No country does this to their earning citizens, I have witnessed the dire work and living conditions of Pakistani labours in the GCC, absolutely shameful treatment from the moment they decide to go abroad and sell themselves to slavery. The first thing any ambassador does upon taking charge is find a job for this family members, foreign assignment is a paid vacation for them, the embassy staff is worse than the govt employees you face back in Pakistan, most are appointed on sifarish, or paid their way to get appointed.......and what's painful is that most labourers in the GCC supported PTI, alas, no relief for them from IK and his appointed minister /advisor for overseas Pakistanis, Zulfikar Bukhari,,,,,,no relief,,, who is he, what's his qualification, what has he done so far,,,,can he live one day in a labour camp in any GCC country?

My dad went to saudi arabia in 1991 and is still there sacrificing all his youth years and health undoubtedly giving us great quality of life in return . Recently "kafeel" took over his entire business snatching 30 years worth of his struggle in blink of an eye. He is in late 50's now, a heart patient and a citizen of country that damn cares.

Went back to Pakistan and found out that most of my valuable inherited property is sold by close relatives, wanted to start a legal fight and just to get the different documents from patwari like fard etc i realize that everyone is expecting money juat bz they hear i came from dubai and this way i will just end up in this rotten system for years while i will have to abandon my life and job i will most probably lose both fronts. Gave up on everything and decided to create a new life for my children abroad, Alhamdulillah Allah has been kind! Think of all those who can't escape.

I remember a station manager of PIA at Jeddah, who didn't even know where to put a thumb impression on the document let alone to sign... and he was a Bhutto.. BTW Jeddah is the most profitable route of PIA because of Umrah and Hajj...

Once 98 % are corrupt in the organizations, and where Islam is only offering nimaz 5 times a day, then such type of things will happen. Few months back i came across three individuals of government, one patwari, one wapda wala and the third one was an excise and taxation wala. And all of them demanded money for a legal and just piece of work and my munshee was clever enough to lower their rates. so this is what it is in this society.

If you physically reach out to them, they will procrastinate your problem as much as possible. And, I've lived in these countries for approximately six years - to merit an honest opinion on this matter. Cheers

I am also a Pakistani Canadian who spent 2 years in Dubai , but I must say Arabs treat almost every nationality more or less like that and most of their laws for expats are only on paper , I have personally experienced an Indian women store in UAE similar to the taxi driver story you told , having said that I totally agree on your observation on Pakistani hi commissions in Arab countries

Sir i work in Saudi Arabia, my experience with the embassy has been rather on the good side. They picked up my phone and provided me the necessary information i required , and i went to embassy for passport renewal and the process was pretty smooth according to the appointment time given to me ... So maybe i should consider myself lucky in this regard :)
