My name is Sam and together with my girlfriend Lyanne, I am on a quest to restore the beauty of this old Italian villa from 1895. Join us as we have to let go of our Dutch habits to fit in in our Italian surroundings, were the word 'plan' gets redefined and our tastebuds are awakened.
The goal of this project is to show that with limited financial means and a lot of optimism we can resurrect the beauty of this abandoned villa in a green and sustainable way. But most of all learn from everything that we encounter and enjoy it whilst we're at it.

Maybe also beginning to install screening plants might be a good idea…Italian cypress are perfect for the villa and would add privacy and quiet the road noise…

So much work in a short time! I hope you're eating fresh veg and fruit grown from your own hands soon. If things like the broccoli don't do well, it's probably the time of year. Some of what you're planting likes to grow in the autumn, but every vegetable gardener figures these things out in time. It's going to be wonderful!

Congrats on finding that path. If you're going to put fruit trees and berries in that area you will need a lot more sun. Get rid of all of those invasive trees and vines and completely clear all of the terraces. You will still need to plant trees or junipers or something along the driveway between the road and the property to block the sound and sight of the road.

If you could afford a wood chipper you could use the chips on your paths and clear up alot of the branches.

I love that the canal goes through with the bridge, it adds so much character and possibilities. Planting will help with the traffic noise, but you also get used to it and will only notice the very noisy ones.👍

Great place for the raspberries! The Villa is revealing herself,she certainly was well loved at some point and because of you will be again. THe highway noise will diminish as more electric vehicles replace the noisy ones. Meanwhile, Laural and other fast-growing border shrubs would cut down on the noise

good point, I think the noise in the videos is also emphasised because of my editing. In real life it's a bit less present, luckily

I love your enthusiasm in planting, I live in farm country and you have to know where to plant fruit trees, as you can’t remove them to plant somewhere else. the trees need lots of sun, the raspberries need lots of morning sun! 🇨🇦🇨🇦

Leaf mold makes good compost. Old garden hoses might be used for soaker hoses. I use cut branches for plant trellises. Wild onions are edible and might make good companion plants to deter bugs.

I lived on a busy street in a big city, on the weekends the kids would race near my house. When they caught the lights just right they would go really fast but my house and I thought it sounded like a pod race, ( star wars) all of the cars sounded different.

Maybe instead of burning your tree mountain later in the year - if you bought a wood chipper and chipped all the waste wood around the garden, you could use that for footpaths between the plant beds.

Dig a trench to contain the raspberries of they'll grow everywhere, full sun , metal border in trench contains roots from spreading but still fruit. Garden is looking good you work so hard👍😁from Seattle 🇺🇸

Maybe if yr not certain it’s worth checking those wild onions as you wouldn’t want to eat something poisonous. No idea myself but lots of plants hv those bulbs. Garden coming together nicely.

ik bewonder hoe jullie nog alles bij de hand doen maar ik had al lang een kleine mini graver gehuurd en ineens alles rond de villa opgeruimd aangaande grondwerken en een draadloos zaagmachientje is heel handig je spaart uiteindelijk uren werk uit en werkkracht

I've watched your posts for 6 months now and have some feedback for you if you want to increase your followers. 1. Partner with someone who understands about editing videos or learn how to do it better yourself, one help would be to increase your playbackspeed in some sections. 2. Plan, plan, plan. And then do it. Winging it as you have done with the gardening is not good video. The spring planting is one example. You are energetic, full of enthusiasm and I hope the best for you and your family. But I think I'll take a break from this channel.
