08 Pontiac Torrent dying randomly - can it really be that simple to fix? 🤯

If you've watched my videos on this 2008 Pontiac Torrent I bought last year, you know it's had issues just randomly shutting off while I'm driving it, and then it won't even crank after that. Then suddenly after sitting for a week or so, suddenly it starts again. Here's a super easy thing to do that may fix it - or will it? 🤷 I don't know, but it's definitely worth a try. We'll see if it solves the problem or leaves me sitting on the side of the road again! 🤔

I have a 2019 Nissan Frontier, 50k miles. has a p0101 MAF circuit out of range/input. ECM is locked by dealer. So I have been going to dealer. I've been through a new MAF sensor, throttle body, NEW ECM, and they said they have checked all grounds in engine, and the wiring harness is good. I have a feel its a O2 sensor related-- extremely intermittent or perhaps camshaft position sensors and or crankshaft position sensor. Although I haven't gotten the crank or cam codes yet, Nissan won't replace anything without a DTC code, or unless i request it. but 6 visits since September 23. I'm starting to give up. :( And just to clarify, I've only paid for the MAF sensor, and TB, and after that, the regional Nissan rep that visits dealers that have vehicles that come back with issues, those repairs are on them. So they stopped me at 2k, and every repair has been on them so far. It's paid off. thats the only reason why I'm hanging on. I will be purchasing a 4runner here within the next few months. I love the 4.0 V6 w 5 speed.

Yeah I am just a loss. I’m still leaning on cam and crank sensors, but why in the hell at 50k miles are these sensors failing? Built on a Friday? Yeah I get the call from dealer tomorrow saying it’s done and I’ll tell them keep it another week. Oh well. 5 years down the drain.

@@taylorb21554 Failure is built into new cars these days. They don't build them to last, they build them intentionally to fail because they want to force you to either trade them in or continually pay for repairs. It's absolute bullshit. Greed has consumed the automobile industry. The only reason I keep messing with this POS is because I got it cheap. And the 74 year old lady is really glad she sold it to me. It's a very nice car with only 70xxx miles on it, but it's a hunk of shit. I will NEVER buy anything newer than 2000 ever again. They are all garbage, throw away cars. Even the reputable companies are doing it now. All garbage. I can't believe people are stupid enough to buy new cars. No freaking way.... 👎🤬

My Pontiac had some work done on it because it failed the emissions. After the work we drove it and it works great but it's not resetting so I can pass the emissions

@@Toni-ce You can buy the scan tool for around $25 and clear all the codes yourself. Or take it back to the place that worked on it and ask them to clear the codes for you. 👍😁

@@WagsAutomotive I have a scan till and there's no codes but the mechanic I guess has a different tool that says something different.

how bout go to a "professional" if he says its at its end, sell the baby or if it still has life and the wires are gone like totally gone. how bout "installing' a brand new one hook that up then start the car and cross your fingers that was the problem , problem solved. or get a brand new pontiac engine from this years car and install that and should solve the old age problem of the car as it has been many years old. sorry for the wording.

Well, first of all I am a professional. And if you watch my other videos on this car, you'll see that it only has 70,000 miles on it, so it's very low mileage and in excellent condition. And yes I could go waste thousands of dollars on a new wiring harness and /or a new engine (don't know why I'd need a new engine since that's not the problem?) but that's the mistake most people make. Throw parts at it until the problem is fixed. That's what inexperienced mechanics do. And it's stupid. You need to DIAGNOSE the problem, not blow money on crap that doesn't resolve the problem. And an issue like this is very difficult to diagnose. That's why I started doing these videos. I replaced the typical low cost parts that can cause this issue to occur. And the key getting stuck in the ignition lock issue is now fixed. But the random dying issue is not. Thanks to my videos, I got a suggestion from a viewer to try what I did here today. And guess what? It cost me NOTHING to do, except my time! Will it fix the issue? IDK but since it's free, why not try it? 🤷
