I take the Tesla Model S Plaid to an air strip to meet up with a 1,000 HP RAM TRX, 1,300 HP Nissan GT-R, Dodge Vipers and more... TRX vs Lambo: • 1,000 HP TRX calls out... #trx #plaid #tesla
These GTR’s seem to bog like crazy. Someone (that actually knows) explain to me what’s going on here. Why do these cars bog so badly? I drove one, trans felt like a slush box.
@@305trx8 lmfao alot of slow low hp jealous non driving people in these comments wich is to be expected everyone likes to pretend to be an expert from behind the keyboard. I had a bit to do with the development of this truck I.e I gave them the idea for it down to the name way back in 2015 when we rolled the rebel out for the first time here in metro Detroit. glad to see it out here in a full realised dream state having fun against mid 8-low 9 second cars. Very happy to see people enjoying them as I knew they would.
The GTR launched while her arms were still up. She responded to it launching by dropping her arms not the other way around. She should have just kept her arms up.
@@flipadavis the TRX launched while her arms were still up* How are you gonna comment on someone jumping once out of three runs, but not say anything about the guy that quite literally jumped on every single run?
@@TurboNFRStwoK @LightSpirit24 never said the TRX beat the Plaid lol. Read it again. He meant when the camera from the truck was pointed forward and you could see the Plaid pulling ahead.
The consistency of the Plaid is really as impressive as its acceleration. When you are putting down 1000+ horsepower in an ICE car, getting a time that reflects that power depends on a whole lot of things going perfectly between traction, shifting, bogging, spraying, etcetera. But the Plaid is just point and shoot -- launches great every time. It seemed like that GT-R woulda won if it'd gotten a perfect launch and didn't bog, but couldn't pull that off anywhere near every time like the Tesla.
@@xxZerosumxx it’s battery limited. Motors are rated at 400hp which would be 1200hp total, but tesla only states 1020 so there’s like 200hp missing. Battery probably can’t supply enough power.
@@shanyosefna5470 Which supercar would you take against the Plaid in snow? So yes, at the dragstrip, I would take the Plaid to win in the snow against whatever supercar there is. Lambo, Ferrari, McLaren etc...
@@ronin7645 I would take an awd econobox with a LSD the Extra weight from the econobox would give it more grip so winning is kinda easy, why do you think subies are so common in snowy areas, supercars wouldn't find any grip in snowy areas and the plaid is too heavy the wheels would just keep spinning, you need weight but not too much or too little
@@ronin7645 and also, what idiot thinks that a lambo, Ferrari and McLaren can drive in the snow?even Stradman's Aventador on tank tracks had a hard time Edit:I forgot the lamborghini urus exists lol
@@shanyosefna5470 Is the econobox a supercar? That's what I'm comparing the Plaid against since they're the closet cars that can beat it. Did you think I was comparing it to 4 wheel trucks or similar? We're talking about drag racing.
Agreed but remember that they were running on an unprepared surface that was considerably less than ideal. Under such conditions AWD provides a massive advantage especially when it can put down near instant full torque. RWD ICE won't be able to hook up nearly as well.
@@Tron-Jockey both the trx and the gtr were awd and hat drag tires while the plaid was on street tires. Also you‘ll never get the consistency with any gas powered vehicle that the tesla can get. The gtr had 2 tries, better tires and more wheel hp and still couldn’t beat the (mind you 69% soc) plaid
@@NiliMoto Worse, if you watch Tesla Plaid Channel, you'll see the Plaid track a consistent fast straight line. Some of the RWD drag cars get very messed up and the Plaid has been collected once and come close to another collision....and this is in a straight line!
My buddy brought me a bottle and it had the wrong size fitting, so I had 2 old bottles in the truck and try to use one of those but it just had air no nitrous 😥.. rematch coming soon on bottle 😈
This is not stock ,it is tesla's high performance model other than roadster So performance ev vs performance ice He doesnt race any performance audis because they will do mid 7 sec runs Look up iroz audi or hoonigan plaid vs r8
@@doaudi1720 It absolutely is stock. That’s like saying a Porsche 911 turbo S isn’t stock when you buy it off the lot. The plaid comes ready to hit 9 second quarter miles straight out of the factory my friend.
Provided they have the updates that started including Track Mode, they will run 175 in Drag Strip Mode, too. Either mode has the higher top speed, tho Carmine GPS tested it to 171.x.
@@drrightwing4435 hopefully Tesla will do the right thing and unlock 200mph in the Plaid as it was marketed as a 200mph car. We’re all still waiting though 🙄 My main thing is atleast unlocking to about 185 for the standing half mile; right now I hit the governed top speed of 164 in Drag mode long before the 1/2 mile marker. The 175mph in Track mode still isn’t high enough and Track mode is slower accelerating anyways so I wouldn’t use it in the 1/2 mile
@@Matt.e_Black they should unlock 200 mph for these drag racers like Dragtimes And they should keep locked for other people at 161 mph which daily drive this car
The TRX on slicks looks wild. The GTR's top-end on third and fourth had ALL the beans, and the sauce, and the tortillas, and the corn, the veggies, the cheese, MAN... that was wild.
Guy in the Dodge truck jump much? Plus he's on slicks. Put regular street tires like the plaid has and watch how more the Tesla drives out of his life. Great video.
The starter...nightmare...Much better ways to start with 2 hands and 100% clean. These guys Jumping and leaving whenever they feel like it...I don't get it...but a chase is a race.
Love your channel. No screaming humble bragging or people acting like idiots. Just the info I need and the action I want. There's hope for youtube yet.
It’s amazing how no one realizes that electric vehicles have a direct energy output. It’s instant. Gas engines have to convert gas into energy, which wastes a lot of time and energy itself. Gas has a 20% efficiency rating. Electric has 80% efficiency. Your gas car could be mega powerful, but its not great if it’s fighting with itself the whole way.
So Brooks drives a hundred miles, wins all the races against hyper tuned dragsters and drives back home while all the others head to the shop to fix the broken parts…
Wow! Another Plaid video. Being a Piston Head I used to love this channel, but Plaid this and Plaid that and my Plaid beats this and that. PLEASSSSSSSE just one video with NO Plaid will rekindle my faith in you!
That TRX is still awesome. It's a 7k pound truck against super cars. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out it's going to loose. If they make similar power but there's a huge weight disadvantage car will win every time.
Brooks! Always love what you put together. I’ve always said Tesla has effortless alien 👽/ ufo 🛸 technology. Everything else is steam-punked. That TRX is an absolute beast. Love it.
haha! brooks is the reason I got my plaid, they have finally come down in price from being 20-40k over sticker...the car is INSANE and I left a lambo standing still this weekend from a roll. love it!
@@snapperface12345 really? You must be joking. A Ceetah Mode or Drage Strip Mode, wasn't made for drag racing? Sure, Tesla was built for tracks.... Come on!
Forget the Tesla being fast, let's give a hand to Brooks for being the most disciplined drag racer there doing consistent launches all day; no jumping, no excuses, just clean passes. That's how you focus on winning, versus others focusing on the winner!
I see all kinds of Plaids at the drag strip trying everything they can to beat 7 second mustangs but they just keep getting smacked around. I see Fox body Mustangs with coyote swaps with no more than $20k in the car getting high 6's and low 7's in the 1/4 mile. The Plaid is not "superior" yet...lol... The only thing that the Plaid is good at really is being fast stock.
@@buriedinsanity9812 I'm not denying that there are cars that are (or can be made to be) quicker than the Plaid, but you seem to be exaggerating a bit with how common they are. Tell us how they are "trying everything"... Beyond wheels/tires, and weight reduction, there's not much more to do than mash the pedal for consistent, repeatable times, whatever that happens to be.
I love seeing these ICE cars resorting to jumping the gun just to try to stay with a 4,800 lb family sedan with a depleted battery. Electric ⚡️ is the future and the future is upon us now.
The great thing about the plaid is is that 1000 plus horsepower is constant it doesn't have to bog on shifts wait on specific RPM for horsepower and torque is Maxed at all times at full throttle. It would take a gasoline car at the same weight 1500 horsepower to keep up with a plaid because of These physics.
Educational video Hoonigan plaid vs r8 There are 4 cylinder rally cars 2.0 liter that have been around awhile that do 0-60 1.5 r8s that do 1.3 0-60 Tesla roadster even with rocket boosters cant even touch that But its all good!

Insanely fast car this beast of Electric monster. This really shows how much power you need with a normal car to be even close beeting it. Wow!!! Is the word that comes to mind.
