It's not just the R8, the TT is gone, Z4 gone, no 1M ever again, but hey it will all be great, you will love the SUV shaped EV things coming from China
When it launched, I also thought it was the attainable super car. I eventually got my Gen 1.5 V10 4 years ago, after steadily moving up the car 'ranks'. It's everything I expected and more, the V10 with my titanium Larini is insane, every drive is an event for me, insanely fast, handles well etc. I'm a normal bloke with a normal job, definitely attainable 👍
I hope you do Joel! Nice V8s @ about mid £30k are amazing value cars, personally I wouldn't put that sort of money in anything else, same for V10s I'm the mid £40k 👍
Now this is a real daily use review and what we really want to know. Yeah it's good knowing the best and the ugliest bits. But, like knowing about the huge doors you have to take into account (like most coupe's I think) and that you actually have android auto and you are connected to live data, even if it takes most of the display, interests me more for actually knowing how it is to live with it. But lets be not brutally, but for a car journalist, dangerously honest. The VW group especially, but most of the European car sector, they don't want you telling about the scam of selling every button and option beeing sold for stupidly high prices. Which suck when you get company cars with so few options, they even take away basic cruise control and front sensors.. I was happy I got an "Audi" once.. till I had to live with it´´ Love the review Joel, keep up the great work and content.
20k mile service interval is crazy. Future buyers beware when buying a used one of these with 60k miles and only three oil changes in the service booklet!
The car that revolutionised the modern day supercar - It is so hard to let go of such a fantastic machine - I am so lucky I got to ride in one last year! Awesome video Joel, a momentous send off. ❤
Are you thinking about picking up the R8? If so, I wish you the best. Frankly, I would love to pick up the older model that I might be able to afford-the V-8 with the manual transmission. Heck, talk to your friend Ben about the R8; it's a beautiful work of automotive art.
Do you know were i saw my first one (lhd) In a secure (pass needed ) " garage" at toyota manufacturing facility at burnaston derbyshire. It was under a cover ,but was being taken apart (the bonnet, engine cover and seats were uncovered next to it.
I would love to drive an R8, my local Audi dealer has had one on the forcourt for the past 6 months but i dont think they would let me drive it unless I had the means to buy it (which I dont )
Cracking V10 sound, well designed exterior but the interior is just there, and the drive like every other Audi : A another U underwhelming D driving I involved 😂 The R8 will be somewhat missed but get a GT4 RS if you enjoy driving
Thanks Joel. I think you missed a trick. This or a Gen1 V10+? The Mk1 is less than half the price, but is it half the fun/car? We have a Mk1 V10+ and it is an incredible car. I would say the steering is better than the Mk2 too…. Although the steering wheel is even bigger, which does grip me.
