Nice, cant fault Tamiya, a bit more basic than when i built mine many many years ago, but i guess that's to keep costs down as really same price there were 30 years ago
Here in the US where I live, we had snowmobiles growing up. Back in those days( early 70's) they broke down most every ride. Well pops got sick and tired of spending hours by himself out in the garage fixing them just so we could break them. I learnerned how to turn wrechs at around 11 yr old, and it ended up being my profession until 4 years ago when I became disabled. I hope Callum's surgery goes well. The boys need to learn by doing, just like I did. Good Day Mates
Indeed, sounds like you have a good day to help teach you, Callum did well on this build so now knows the basics and can carry on learning from there 👍 give a man a fish and he will be hungry tomorrow, teach a man to fish he will have food forever 😂 Surgery went well thanks, this vid is a bit old so you likely saw Callum in prior videos with his foot hobbling around 😂
I bought one last day because I want to build it myself from the ground. I like my rtr cars and to work on it's great to do. But you learn the most from a kit car I think so I give it a try👌🏻
Indeed you do learn from building kits, teaches you hw everything gets put together, especially diffs and shocks etc. Plus its super relaxing to sit and build them
Sadly it was built over a few days, and so many people have done build videos we didnt video the actual build, plus as Callum was learning it would have been very very stop and start. They really are great kits to learn from though, and what you learn here can then be used on other cars
Great video with the boys. You should call this the butt revenge video on that last race. If Jack kept it on the track he wins. Lol. Callum is going to be a heck of a driver if he keeps this up. Can’t wait to see more Tamiya on the channel.
LOL, it was funny, just cross the line and you have won jack, crash 😂😂 Jack is trying to do something special with his one so will be more thats for sure
Best option is really to ask on facebook groups, most areas have a bashing group set up so they would know if there are any local tracks, or try goggling
Unfortunately the motor ESC combo is discontinued, we took it out an older car we had. A normal 1/10th brushless motor should fit as we also fitted a BLX100 system from a 3s car in no problem.
Enjoyable video. The TT-02 chassis was designed for road use only, seems a con by Tamiya to issue Rally cars like the Audi/RS Escort/Lancia Delta/Subaru Impreza etc etc and RCers think they will work well on rough off road surfaces, The TT-02 chassis is very low to the ground leading to intense chassis damage, even setting the suspension to its highest point, also has a weak spot and the suspension joints can easily be knocked apart, also the suspension dampers/springs are very poor and can easily get smashed apart by flying rocks.
Indeed - it is a bit naughty, but the detail of the body is nice, and to be honest we will use it more on road. It was more of a project for the boys to build an RC car
@@HardcoreRC I've been dabbling in RC stuff since the 1970's, from the likes of Mardave to Kyosho to Tamiya, I stopped buying RC cars in the very late 1990's, maybe 1999, stopped due to having kids and the money was needed for them instead, my last car was the 1993 tiger stripe Cosworth, years later I saw the Audi Quattro and just had to buy one and re-live my youth again, purchased the kit with everything, including steel ball bearing, I was expecting to see the TA02 chassis in the kit but instead got the TT-02 chassis, later finding out that Tamiya had discontinued the best off road chassis ever made, shame really.....Anyway I built the Audi kit and enjoy it thoroughly on short grass & tarmac, but on gravel/rough grough it's bounced all over the place, within two weeks the shockers was knackered, so replaced with alloy oil filled shocked, that has improved road holding greatly. I'm umming & arring weither or not to buy the new Tamiya Ford Escort MKII kit now, only found out yesterday it's four wheel drive, but the MKII was never a 4x4, I have purchased the MKII clear shell to fit my own decals, then fit it to the TT-02 chassis, only to see the wheel base is way too long for the Escort shell 🙄
@@IanLanc Its s ashame that the TA02 was discontinued. My first RC was a Tamiya Toyota Celica GT4 back in 90's they came with oil filled shocks etc and took a lot longer to build, but even back then they were £100 so i guess certain things have had to be cut back in order to keep the price where it is - when you look at what else is on the market and how much tit costs the Tamiya kits are actually good value these days
@@HardcoreRC One thing which I don't like is the modern radio sets, whilst they are lightweight, such sets like the Carson feel inferior to the old Acoms or Futaba sets, I've a lot of catching up to do with RC cars.
@@IanLanc You should check out the Flysky Noble NB4 - that is a very very nice radio. Remember when i got back into the hobby i was still using sticks and crystals, didnt even know of this digital stuff :)
Awesome video, think I should buy a fully assembled stock and never used painted one with ball bearings for £150? I already have a TRX-6 and a 3s Slash. Thanks :)
They are about £130 in kit form, likely cost £15 - £20 for the bearings so the £150 for ready built and the bearings seems like a great deal as long as its in good condition
