Always stoked for your videos but even more stoked for this one since I just bought a 2023 kx450. It's my first new bike in six years and I'm really enjoying it.

Thanks!. Congrats on the 2023 KX450! Oh man your in luck, this KX450 will be getting a top end, and suspension servicing and will be doing videos on that too.

@@UpAllNight91 Hell yeah! Definitely looking forward to those. The stock suspension and valving is really good on this bike. I've never felt like I could push on a stock bike but with this one I feel like I could race it right off the showroom floor. I'm pretty heavy though so will definitely need springs.

Right on. If she's still breaking in she will feel nice and firm. After about 20 hours things should loosen up some.

Are the flat spring clutches that much more sensative to pack thickness and wear? What are their advantages? Because that clutch didn't look too bad. I have had clutch feel like it is dragging when you pull it in if the oil is cold or I used a different brand of oil that is thicker like conventional always seems thicker than synthetic using the same weight oil.
@UpAllNight91
@UpAllNight91 10 месяцев назад
Yes the flat spring clutches are surely sensitive to clutch pack thickness. They have a very narrow are they work well in, I really dont know what are the advantages of these flat springs but I'm guessing it might have a different progressive clamping pressure vs normal coil springs. Maybe providing more clamping forces on the clutch plate but not has hard to pull in at the clutch level? Just a guess. Yes this clutch was not too bad, but the owner is a life long vet rider and he notices even the little things. Oil can cause the drag as you mentioned and I asked him if hes changed to different oils recently or anything and he says hes been using the same oil since hes owned the bike. I have fixed clutches dragging just by changing to a different oil, it does happen

Nice score! Those are excellent bikes! What do you weigh? Can you or one of your buddies service your forks as far as a fork spring swap? swapping?
@UpAllNight91
@UpAllNight91 10 месяцев назад
I weigh about 150. But this bike belongs to a friendof mine. . Yes this bike will be also putting together a video on the forks. Should be up within a week or less.

Hey man I'm trying to replace my fibers and when I put the spring plate on its like my clutch is engaged and there's wiggle room in between the fibers. Ever ran across the issue or know a fix for it?
@UpAllNight91
@UpAllNight91 3 месяца назад
Hmm, are these new plates? I have seen that when they plates are way worn out, or when one of the fibers or steels are missing. Or if the clutch kit is not actually correct for the bike and the whole stack is not thick enough. Sometimes taking the spring pressure plate off and turning it a quarter turn then putting it back on can help too.

@@bunnyman6321 thanks brother! Been a bottom feeder in this sport for years but I love it and its been good to me. I have no complaints! Was hoping to be a pro rider, that didn't happen (delusional dream anyway lol) Then hoped to be a pro riders mechanic, that didn't happen. But I always have bikes all around me, can ride anything I want, and have a wife and brother and family that rides and crap I feel blessed

@UpAllNight91 That's excellent everything worked out for you. About the pro rider mechanic I saw the Tedder family looking for a mechanic and also it's opening I saw for a pro motocross/supercross mechanic. I could share it if you want? I'm not sure if your page would pick it up as spam if I post it. I wanted to be a pro rider too ; my parents wouldn't buy me a bike. I didn't get a bike until I was grown 😕 I'm still salty bout that

Thanks brother. Honestly at this point I'm good staying around home and working. I'm 47 now lol. Someone would have to pay me really well to work on the road these days. I feel ya , I didn't get my first Motocross bike till I was 19. My parents did buy me a 3 wheeler and a trail bike but what I really wanted was a full on 2 stroke MX bike. I use to stare at magazines and dream. When I became a adult and started making my own money I bought a 1983 yz250 that was missing 1st and 3rd gear but it ran. I learned how to fix her up and she was a ripper. Then it got stolen but I got it back 2 weeks later. On my first ride on her after getting it back, it hit me... this was my life. And here I am 27 years later! But I feel ya on the salty thing. But also kids that get it all also lose the love as adults and move along. Being hungry as a kid lights a fire that we have today

Hi, nice video, I want to ask if it's possible to understand how the shim or washer is mounted between the basket and the hub, because on my motorbike it turns freely. Then why does the first garnished disc always break? hi, I'm Italian, sorry for the words
@UpAllNight91
@UpAllNight91 5 месяцев назад
Thanks! Yes there should be a washer between the basket and the inner hub, otherwise the clutch will bind when the clutch center nut is torqued down. The first plate or the last plate are often always the first to break because they are the first that start building friction when the clutch lever is dropped or let out quickly.

@@UpAllNight91 Thank you! yes, ok the washer fits. But why does my washer end up beyond the channels of the gearbox shaft? I ask you: shouldn't it remain further forward? I don't know if I understand. For clutch discs, how can I avoid breakage?
