Joe Mauler gifted me his 1/16 remote control Flak Gepard. I've spent the last couple of months making it Radio Controlled, adding turret rotation, cannon elevation, radar tracking, sounds and lights. I didn't buy a kit but instead when the "frugal" route and wired things up in my own way. I find this challenging but so rewarding when the tank is finally working. Thank you Joe. I really never thought I would hold one of these in my hand. I was happy with the memories of seeing these in the catalogs 40 years ago. But now I have one and it runs like a true leopard! I hope you all enjoy the video.

Thanks 👍 I burned out two of those laser gun boards before I wired it up with reduced voltage. I watched quite a few RU-vid vids on electronics. 😁

Yeah I need to do that. I have to show one of my kids how to drive it. That’d be fun to see. The Equalizer is so small in comparison.

i have the older Flakpanzer with dual clutch and single motor,my radar is all apart and cannot find the manual to see how it goes back together? Is it possible to upgrade the turret like your model is?

I’m sure you could. This is the original model but I received it with no jnternals in place. With the newer tech it’s much easier to get working.

Does the rotation part just sit ontop. If you hit a bump on the road does it not come off?

I have the exact tabk and doing the exact modifications but the last thing is having the top part being solid and not comming off when climbing over rocks. Also not doing the gunner system as i can find those toys here in SA.

No, that’d be bad. I drive this over rocks and bumps. The original kit had two tabs that would slip under the upper hull but I removed them because at a certain angle the tabs could pop out or bind. I fabricated a disc that is bigger than the turret hole in the upper hull. It screws into the turret when the upper hull is remove. There is some play. I didn’t use a bearing, but it’s pretty tight and keeps the turret in place. I really need to make my How I Did This video. Hope that helps.
