1/5 Scale Shock Rebuild with John Schultz at Power Jam 2012. John shows how to rebuild the HPI Baja and Losi 5IVE shocks. www.KillerRC.com www.HorizonHoby.com
Awesome info John, thankyou so much for that explaination with the shocks, especially the HPI shocks, our LHS said the normal shock oil will kill the o ringd s, & the shocks won't work with it. They told me to put 5wHPI in front & rear, i race 1/10 onrd & 1/8 onrd & 1/8 offrd & the HPI shocks were bouncing with the 5 w fork oil, ridiculous. Thanks heaps. You Rock bro.
HI, in your video when you refilling the baja shock, you said that didnt have 45w with you, but you put 30w was that piston 2 holes or 4 holes for that 45w?
Hello. I don´t know what you have read but even on HPI:s homepage they have their own silicon shock oils. There is nothing else but silicon oils for you to use in your shocks. They are the best because they are not affected by cold or warm temperatures outside.
HPI doesn't recommend silicone fluid on their Baja shocks, specifically because they use a different design seal system than other RC shocks, and silicone shock oil can damage those seals. HPI sells a non-silicone fluid for these shocks, you can also use motorcycle fork fluid.
@@gpaje I Read the same thing bud, but the lhs only had 5w & its fork oil the HPI stuff, they told me that silicon oil will ruin the o rings but i've had 47 w ae silicon oil in front & back for ages no prob, 2 hole pistons in front & 3 hole pistons for rear. This guy knows his stuff.
