After a long... hiatus... I get the engine out of the Porsche Boxster and install the VW 1.8T motor.
Thank you to everyone that assisted through their knowledge and experience. And thanks to the friends that helped get the motor in position and installed!

Hello Charles. That hoisting system you are using to swap engines we call a boot strap kit in the airline business. When there is no crane or hoisting system available they created the boot strap kit to use to change engines.

Long waited update Reese. Nice work. Could you please make a video how does the gear box mated with the engine even a quick explanation as you did in one of the first videos. Because I'm having in mind to do a conversion in to a VW t3 with this box and 1.8t😜🙃nice work. Greetings from Bulgaria.

Wow, great video. That's a lot of work. I applaud your efforts! Did the original engine fail? Just curious as to why you decided tondo a swap. Anyway, looking forward to following your progress.

Hi Paul. The original engine still works. I bought the car specifically for this project after researching that the transmission bolts up directly to the 1.8T (and a couple of other Audi/VW motors).

Hey Mario. It is pretty much a plug-and-play harness made by Dave at the TDC Shop. Tell him the guy with the Boxster swap sent you ;)

Stock starter from a Passat mounts to the transmission bellhousing. Simple

Hello. I'm looking to do a similar conversion and have sourced a 2006 audi BVR code engine. But it does not mate to my 2004 boxster gearbox any ideas why.? I've googled the engine code and apparently it's the same motor just different bhp/ tuning to the bam.?? Any ideas

Hi Dany, I am not familiar with the BVR engine code, but I am assuming it may be a transverse motor versus a longitudinal (which you need). Also I am not sure about the transmission that is in the 2004 model. See if you can get the parts number and see if it is the same as the 97-03 Boxster model years.

Hello, I did a swap but can't read RPMs on dash, can you please, tell me what did you do to make crankshaft sensor's signal compartible to porsche's dash?

Why swap with a weaker engine? Stock is like 200+ and this one is barely 170

@thefreedomguyuk the 1.8t is a better engine vs. the 2.5, 2.7, or 3.2 porsche engines. 1.8t is cheaper to maintain, lighter, and easier to make the power. Plus it bolts to the original transmission without any custom parts
