1. I am a long-time Evangelical Christian, who is seriously considering becoming a part of the Latter Day Saints...the Mormons. My Evangelical friends have sent me some anti-Mormon RU-vid Videos....apparently thinking they "prove" inarguably that the Latter Day Saints are not even Christian...but a demonic cult! So far I have found their arguments in this regard completely unconvincing...and expect to do some videos explaining just why...and also...I hope to get any input from sincere Evangelicals... who think they have insight from the Word of God that I may find helpful as I decide fully...whether to leave Evangelical Christianity to become a Latter Day Saint!!
Also...please note a "typo" in the video...at 11:52, I say, "I grew up like all the other Latter Day Saints".....I misspoke there, as can be clearly seen by what I say after.....what I meant to say was, "I grew up like all the other Evangelical Christians"...hearing about "Kingdom of the Cults", hearing Walter Martin Cassettes about the Mormons, etc, etc".....

We have NO interest in proving any other religion as true or false. 1) It’s NOT Christlike. We were ALL given free agency. Why would I thwart that by mistreating anyone else? I don’t HAVE to be right. In fact if the war between being RIGHT or being DEAD were to create my demise? Honestly, while not a perfect being, I’m ok ( not suicidal by any means), but I have no fear of death itself. Being THAT RIGHT for a self-serving purpose, is not of any interest to me at all. I want people to do what is best for themselves, and to respect those around them to do & be the same.. because that is THEIR free agency. Who am I to encroach on the rights and free will of others? But if you ask me, I will listen and I hope you’re grounded for some responses that while true, you may or may not be expecting.

I realize that this video was done a while ago, but I really wanted to add my 2 cents worth to what you are saying here and what you have said in your many other videos and I feel so much the same way. I was raised Lutheran. I have not attended all Lutheran Churches, but the ones I have attended were very anti LDS (yes, it was referred to as "Mormon" back then. Fear kept me far away. In 1981 I was struggling and as a last ditch effort to feel better I turned to the Bible. I remember sitting up and paying strict attention to what I was reading. Jesus was amazing and became my hero. I was very excited and knew I had to find his church because I remembered reading about one faith, one baptism, and one Lord and I had to find that church. (ppl noticed immediately the change in my demeanor upon reading the Bible). Like Joseph Smith though I asked myself where to find it among the many churches which claim Christianity. I decided to start with the Catholic Church and move around from there. My search was not 47 years, but only 12 years long and most of that time, I, too, never considered the LDS because of the fear...I made fun of the Latter Day Saints with the best of them, but never went so far as handing out leaflets. One time I was in a play with a half a dozen or so Latter Day Saints so I examined them through observation. Put them on my own personal pi tree dish...my little experiment. I noticed they did not say bad words which is unusual in a military environment which I was in, they were nice as could be and they were very family oriented and I remember thinking..."if they are so evil, why do they act so good". Not long afterwards I was at a scout camp and met the Bishops wife of the LDS ward in Stuttgart, Germany of the American Ward. She also was nice and invited me to go to church which I did...not a good day with the tiny ones I had that day, so I can't say I got much out of the meeting. Not long after this we would leave Germany to go home and our choice of places to live was Montana. We ended up settling in St Ignatius, MT where I met the local Bishops wife there also after auditioning for a play. We became quick friends. At this time though I had searched for 12 Years for Christs church. I met many wonderful ppl trying to do wonderful things but something just seemed as though it was missing. I went back to the faith I was raised in and figured that the church I was looking for probably did not exist. It was a train wreck going to that church. They were very anti LDS and spent more time talking about "those Mormons" or "those Jehovahs Wittnesses" than they did teaching about Christ. One Elder who knew I had an LDS friend kept warning me to stay away from them and I got sick of it so I left the church telling him that I was going to investigate the LDS church and find out for myself what they are all about and if I thought it were true I would join with them and if not I just spent a little time studying a new religion. They sent sister missionaries to teach me. Sister Morgan and Sister Lewis along with a senior couple the Papenfusses. I read everything they asked me to and more. I studied starting at 10PM and usually quit studying by 130-200am. I did this from December of 1992 to Feb of 1993. Sometime in February as I studied I felt overpowering warmth within my heart which grew until I thought my heart would burst. I remember both laughing and crying. Laughing, I suppose, because I never could have imagined this feeling and crying because I knew in whose presence I was. I did not see anyone but I heard a voice which called me by name and told me that I should join the church. The voice told me that He knew I did not understand all that I wanted to at this time, but He promised me that in time, a little at a time, those things would be revealed to me. Then the voice left me and everything else came in impressions. I knew that God lived and knew that Jesus was the Christ, the very Son of the living God. I knew I was loved. This was around 0130 am. I rushed to the phone to call the missionaries not even thinking about the time. No answer, of course, but I called and told them in the morning I wanted to be baptized. I was warned that upon this decision Satan could show up trying to discourage me from joining LOL...they were right. Doubts crept in and ironically my big concern was that my traditional faith was held near and dear by my parents, my grandparents, my great grandparents etc and so forth so I remember asking myself how I could join this new and different church with such a rich history in the Lutheran faith. Then I heard that voice one more time...I was merely asked one question..."to whom or to where do your dedications lie?" In other words, temporal traditions of faith come in many varieties...was I more worried about tradition or about following Him. Sometimes if I have a crisis of faith, I remember this testimony and where it led me. I was baptized 28 Feb 1993. I probably can't make it to bountiful or St George area so I thought I would just share how I found the church here. You may or may not see this but it's been good for me to feel that strong spirit come back to me as I remember those days. PS...Scrat is actually my husband...forgot I was on his computer. I am Charleen.

Hi David, We have several similar experiences. During my soul searching time when I wanted to learn who I am, what is my purpose here, and what happens after this life. The Lord blessed me with some great learning as I read the New Testament. I knew what I was reading was true and began putting the lessons learned into practice. I learned that I had a Heavenly Father who knew me by name. I knew I needed to be baptized by immersion. I didn't know anything about the Restored Church at the time and knew the Baptists did baptism by immersion. But when I talked to my Baptist chaplain he told me it was an important decision and I should take some time in considering this choice. He also pointed me to a born again Christian group of young people called the Navigators. They told me all I needed to do was pray the sinners prayer and I would be saved. I looked at them like what are you talking about? That's not what I've been reading in my Bible. I had already felt prompted that Father didn't want me to smoke anymore. I knew I needed to repent and be baptized. In the process I eventually learned about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A friend that I used to party with had joined the Church earlier but he was active for about 4 months. When I came to him about my new found interest in religion and he read the Joseph Smith story to me from the Pearl of Great Price. I was intrigued and said I wanted to go to church. It was a Fast and Testimony Sunday and while there I was struggling to hold back the tears of joy I felt. The Spirit whispered to my mind..."this is what you've been looking for". My focus had been Seek ye First the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be given unto you. After the meeting I was introduced to the Bishop and told him I wanted to be baptized. Without missing a beat, he looked around and seeing the missionaries, pointed to them and told me then talk to our missionaries. I was taught all that week. They helped me recognize what I felt in church was the Holy Ghost. The following Sunday I was baptized into the Restore Church and Kingdom of God and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. But it wasn't until about 11 months later that I really got what I call my testimony. I was doing my best to live the gospel and failing from time to time as humans do. I had had many wonderful spiritual experiences. I had received my Patriarchal Blessing and knew it had come from Heavenly Father because there was no way this Patriach could have know the desires of my heart which were expressed in my blessing. I had studied in some Religion courses that young singles were encouraged to attend. One of the promises in John say that if anyone does the will of the Father they shall know, KNOW, of the doctrine. After 11 months Satan had placed some serious doubts in my mind about my decision to get baptized but remembering this passage from John read some scriptures from the Doctrine and Covenants that had some meaning to me and then went into my closet to pray. My desire was to KNOW for myself and have these doubts burned from my heart and mind. The Lord poured out his Spirit upon me in such abundance that I was enveloped in his arms. The tears of joy freely flowed and he spoke simple words to my mind that could not be argued with. The words were these. "You knew it was true when you read the New Testament back before I brought you to my Church". Ever since that moment I have had no doubts about the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. The next day when I was at church I was pulled aside from someone in the Stake and called to be a Stake Missionary. I credit the Lord with my understanding of the Gospel because of the way I read the New Testament. He knew perfectly how to lead me to the green pastures flowing with living waters. I watched the video you did with Greg from Cwic Media. Thanks for sharing your journey to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, brother!

Hi David! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your sincerity and humility in sharing your thoughts here. I have many wonderful evangelical friends and family members and I was raised lds so I know the comments you’re talking about well… the evangelicals in my small town had such strong animosity towards the lds church. As a teen I had friends that were forbidden to spend time with us anymore. One friend told their dad they were interested in attending the lds church and his dad called their pastor to have the devil cast out of his son. At our graduation ceremony the parents asked to pray at the open and close of the ceremony used it as an opportunity to pray over the brainwashed Mormon teens that we’d see the light, etc. It hurt to feel so misunderstood and misjudged. I dated the son of an evangelical pastor in secret for a couple of years and went to church meetings with him and really felt like it was lacking something … and it was just unfortunate that they were so afraid of us that I had to keep the fact that I was lds a secret. On my mission I heard it all of course. The gospel has been an immeasurable source of peace, comfort, light and beauty in my life. It has brought me pure joy and given me clarity and purpose and direction. Not to mention motivating me to strive to be my best self. I wish that everyone could find and experience such peace and hope. Since my husband left the church about 6 years ago I have been through a faith crisis which has rocked my world. I’ve really missed the peace and beauty of the gospel and have not found anything that remotely matches it. I’m glad I came across your page and I can’t get enough of your videos and testimony and just feel my heart swell with gratitude that I was blessed to have been raised lds. I’m not necessarily where I want to be but I’m trying to head in that direction … and this warmed my heart! You have such a beautiful spirit. It’s hard work to wrestle with what you believe and to be open and share and put yourself out there. Just wanted to say thank you!

New to your channel, but I know that the gospel and doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I would never pretend to know and understand everything about it’s history but I know the doctrine and principles are true. I know that we have a Prophet (Russell M Nelson) who is called of God as are the Quorum of the twelve and his councilors. I know Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God who restored this Church in this last dispensation exactly as he said it happened. I know I have an inner peace and joy that I know comes from the spirit of God. The spirit has told me strongly and powerfully that this is the true Church and whispers the same everyday. I know that conversion is a daily occurrence and a testimony must be nourished EVERY day. You’re on the right path and I’m grateful to you for it.

A question that I’ve had lately is, “Why are followers of Jesus Christ tearing down and bashing other followers of Jesus Christ?” We should be uniting against the devil and his kingdom and not fighting against one another over doctrine. Jesus has said, “…he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, one with another. Behold, this is not my doctrine, to stir up the hearts of men with anger, one against another; but this is my doctrine, that such things should be done away.”

Hi Quail. The bashers....are the evangelicals. I was part of evangelical Christianity for 47 years...and constantly and consistently heard "mormons" bashed and slandered...as an "evil cult"...that were not even Christians. And never ONCE, NOT ONE TIME...in 47 years....did I ever hear even ONE...fellow Evangelical...speak up in defence of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. And I heard such slander...hundreds of times! But the simple, honest truth is this: the only True Church of the Lord Jesus Christ IS...The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Elder Bednar...in one of his talks...quotes Austin M. Farrar, a renowned English Anglican Philosopher, theologian and biblical scholar, noting his following insightful statement; “though argument does not create conviction; the lack of it, destroys belief. What seems to be proved, may not be embraced…but what no one shows the ability to defend…is quickly abandoned. Rational argument does not create belief, but it maintains a climate in which belief…may flourish.” This is why Jude commands in verse three of his letter,… 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. When the TRUTH...and the TRUE CHURCH...is continually viciously SLANDERED and gross Deception is promoted about the most Beautiful thing on earth.... the worst thing a Saint can do...is not open their mouth and Bear Witness to the Truth. Our Lord Jesus Christ said plainly, "for this cause I was born and for this cause I came into the world...to bear witness to the truth...everyone who is of the truth...hears my voice. All true disciples have that same responsibility...to speak the truth in love....whenever they encounter...lies and deception spoken in hate...under the influence...even unwittingly...of the Accuser of the Brethren. President Nelson...in his wonderful, wonderful message, "Overcome the Word, and find rest" states plainly, that one of the chief requirements for anyone who desires to overcome the world...is to "Delight in the Truth, and Denounce Deception!" which is what I chose as the title for this channel. If a person loves the truth...they must defend it when it is slandered and misrepresented and especially when the truth is called "evil". These people who do such things...slander the most beautiful things on the earth...though many of them are sincere, and trying to serve God...they are grieving the Spirit of Heavenly Father continually...but their slander of His Zion...and their slander...cannot go undefended against and unanswered...or the Saints....lose their heart and faith...as the Quote from Austin Farrar plainly states, as quoted as TRUTH by Elder Bednar. There is no "peace" or glory...in pretending we are ONE...with people who deny and slander viciously... every good thing that Heavenly Father has done through the Restoration of His Church. Sincerely in the Lord Jesus Christ, David

Thank you for doing this David Alexander. Thank you for your desire to help evangelical Christians and Latter Day Saint Christians. My husband and I have been married for twenty years. He took off his garments five years ago. People came up with all kinds of accusations, and I was alone, on my knees, crying for direction in my life. In time, the answer came to love and be patient. All I could do was bow my head and try, pray, and try, read scriptures, and try. It got easier to love and I became able to be patient. Then, one day, I took a chance and watched a video of yours. I wasn't sure what it would be like. I was hesitant to invite more difficulties in. But you addressed the things that gave healing to my heart and consoled me. Thank you, brother David. May God bless you for doing this.

Bear in mind that the LDS church teaches God puts good insights into all churches. We believe God can nudge people from all Churches toward light and truth. We do believe God did restore the true authority (priesthood) to the LDS church, so we do have that authority to baptize, marry, etc. So good LDS people should be respectful to all other churches. We welcome you to attend our church, they are all over the place. We invite you to meet with the poor, uneducated, undertrained missionaries. Only the Spirit of God could do good with them!

It had come to mind several times when looking at the scriptures that in the story about Korihor that the people of Ammon and others, who were true disciples, would NOT let him come in among them to ruin the youth. They actually bound him him up and took him out of the land and then made him go elsewhere. They understood and had true gospel insight to not want to just let the wolves run among the sheep and destroy them. Farmers get this... if you leave the predators there, your flock will get destroyed. But people that don't really fully understand what's at stake will get confused about some argument about free agency. Free agency is real but it doesn't mean you leave a wolf in there with the sheep. That's the craziest thing I've ever heard of that people would be so ... deceived and deluded to think that just because free agency exists we're going to let all the wolves in and let them do what they want to eat up all the little lambs. I don't particularly like apologist views because of this. Although I'm referring to the idea of an apologetic view, and not a person or entity known as Apologia (Is that a group?) The youth, the new people in the church, they don't always know what's a wolf and a sheep. And they need to be protected from poison. There are people that study how to destroy others, destroy and corrupt identity. Jesus Christ and the real gospel heal all kinds of sicknesses, including helping people with identity, with all the problems of life. And can fill people with love and the love of God. When reading Lehi's dream about the tree of life, the disciples when they really tasted the love of god and how good and how wonderful it was they didn't feel the pull of the great and spacious building anymore. They weren't interested in it. But I worry a lot of members have stagnated a bit and not gotten to the point of really tasting the love of god yet. They think they know the gospel, but they aren't feeling it yet. I hope more people can feel it like you can. And that they can taste the love of Christ. If they can get to this point they can get to where they won't be led astray so easily and pulled away. But people are easy to get pulled away now. Its hopeful that you and others can help keep them straight. And it has to do with getting to this idea of getting to the taste of the fruit of the love of god.

Noah, what a wonderful post! Apologia Studios is a para-church organization...in Mesa Az. I think...but not sure..but their whole thing...is to try to destroy the faith of Latter Day Saints....to "save" them into Martin Luthers version of Christianity.....the same Martin Luther that wrote, "on the Jews and their Lies". Even more dangerous, I think...are those who are trying to do the same kind of thing, under a guise of "interfaith dialogue"...undermining the faith of unwary Latter Day Saints very slowly and subtly. That is like the German proverb about how all it takes to wear away a stone....is just a drip of water....and a lot of time. Hello everyone. I was brought to this channel by various commenters on David Boice's "52 Churches in 52 Weeks" channel. Having served an LDS mission in Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri, I have encountered quite a few of those Apologia-types. I know first-hand about being "hammered" with all the anti-Mormon literature by them. Having graduated from LDS Seminary while in my high school years, and having a high IQ such that I could remember all the things I have learned from my study of the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants/church history, etc.; I could easily pick out all the twisted truths, "straw man" arguments, logical fallacies, faulty sources, quotes taken out of context, the outright fabrications, etc., in everything they would bash us with. (A "straw man" is an false or distorted assertion made specifically for the purpose of tearing it down. In other words, their attack is made on their distorted or false version of the truth instead of the truth, itself.) I, too can relate to how laughable it all is. I was not swayed one bit. I also know first hand about all the confirmation bias there is in Evangelical Christianity. Confirmation bias is the tendency for people to process information by only looking for, interpreting towards, or accepting only information that is consistent with their existing beliefs; meanwhile ignoring, dismissing, or outright rejecting, any information or facts that are not consistent with their existing beliefs. Evangelical Christians especially do this with the Bible. All anti-Mormon literature is designed to deceive the ignorant and create confirmation bias in its readers against the LDS church. I has also become clear to me that all these authors of anti-Mormon literature knew that they were lying when they wrote them, somehow justifying in their minds that it was okay to lie in order to bring people into their own belief system. I like to call them "Liars for Jesus." I know that when they do this, they are really following Satan, the "Father of All Lies." It is all "paper tigers." (A "paper tiger" is something or someone that claims or appears to be powerful or threatening, but is actually ineffectual and unable to withstand challenge.) After watching the first two videos in this channel, I am getting the sense that David Alexander is going to cut down all the confirmation bias, challenge all the "paper tigers," and expose all the lies and twisted truths ("straw men") about the LDS Church that these "Liars for Jesus" have published throughout the world. Knowing the truth about all these things already, I don't know that I will learn much from this channel. However, as I follow this channel, I believe it can serve to reinforce what I already know, and it just may help me learn to be a better and more noble defender of the truth.

apologia studios are calvinists. calvinists are NOT christians. calvinists believe god created all things, and controls all things, predetermined all things, and made all things exactly the way they are. ... thus god also created evil. therefore since calvinists believe god created evil. they are blaspheming against the holy spirit ... the only unforgivable sin. calvinists also believe the only people who will be saved have been predetermined by god. and since calvinists believe god predetermined who will be saved ... they have removed free will - the gift of god to humans, and removed jesus from the equation. ... and of course ... calvinists are arrogant enough to believe they are some of the predetermined to be saved ( without a shred of evidence) ... despite the fact jesus claimed he came to save all mankind. 1 timothy 2:3-6 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. in fact ... in that respect calvinists are just like muslims. since god (according to calvinists) has already determined who will be saved ... (and who will not be saved) ... those who will be saved do not need christ and those who will not be saved cannot come to christ. thus calvinists do not preach the gospel. thus calvinists are not christians. mormons do not believe god created evil. mormons believe god gave every human free will. mormons believe everyone can be saved, because god sent jesus to take the sins of every human upon himself. and therefor all humans who accepts christ's sacrifice can be saved. mormons are more christian than calvinists.

Alma 37:9 is unknown but its message is important. The plates/ the Book of Mormon brought unbelievers to know God and his son, their redeemer. If knowing God and Christ is desirable to you, now is the time to start. Your faith in Christ is just the start. Alma 32 says that faith must be exercised. When it is, it stops being faith. It will become knowledge. The goal should be to know Christ, not just to follow after him.

Even though Mormons are lovely, kindhearted people, it doesn't mean that their religion is true. While there are aspects about the LDS Church I can appreciate, there are parts of their faith that I could never abide by. The LDS view of God's nature is particularly troublesome to me. This quote is from the LDS Church. "As man is, God once was; as God is, man may become." This means that according to LDS theology, God was once a mortal man and that man has the potential to become God. This contradicts with the way God is presented in Scripture. Please read Isaiah 43:10,11 and Psalm 90:2. There is only one God. There can be no gods before Him or after Him. God is one and He is eternal from everlasting to everlasting.

Any church that is Trinitarian...has no real understanding of Heavenly Father or of His Son..or of Heavenly Father's desire and plan to bring many sons to glory...who are "conformed to the image of His Son...that He might be the Firstborn of many Brethren". And any church that is involved in "State Churches"....thinking they can combine Christ's Kingdom on earth which is "not of this world"...with the Political/Military/Coercive "kingdoms of this world"...and still remain the "Kingdom of God on earth"...the supposed "authority" of any such church is a total fantasy. The Orthodox churches...generally, are "state churches"....and right now, for example, the Russian Orthodox Church...is the lapdog...of Putin, giving him the "moral/religious cover" for his blatant rape of Ukraine. So please...do pray for me...but I honestly believe you are kidding yourself to imagine that Orthodoxy has any true connection to the Apostolic Faith and Apostolic Authority of the first century.
