Hot dogs are a staple at any baseball game, or at really any stadium, but they’ve been overpriced for too long.

I would consider this "but better" bc sure overall the price can be cheaper, but it's balanced out by the amount of time one needs to take to make the recipe (even just the sausage itself) let alone the specific "optional" instruments listed. I think time needs to be included on "cheaper" because it's not just money that goes into cooking but also time/patience

It's not that expensive really. It's $400.... like... how much is your iPhone or android smart phone? How much is your car? How much is your mortgage? Or rent payment? Like... honestly, put into perspective of all of the things we buy, it isn't that much money. Especially considering that it's a one time purchase, not like a car or a phone or laptop or iPad etc. That is VERY expensive and we all pay extra in interest for all of these things. And your complaining about a kitchenaid that's a little less than a flat screen TV? That most of us have multiple of.... I mean... I do understand, it's NOT cheap. But, considering everything else out for sale on thr market right now, I mean the God dang thing is cheaper an an xbox!!! Come on people. It's not thay expensive!!! You pay more for a PS5! Etc. For reals.... like.... perspective! That is all.

I think there should be a series for college students who only really have access to the mini-fridge and microwave in their dorms. I didn't have access to a full kitchen until my senior year of college. Edit: To make it clear, my school also didn't have a food court. You were completely on your own for food.
@seanmatthewking
@seanmatthewking 2 года назад
I mean, what people living in a dorm even have a cutting board and a knife? And if for some reason you do, you have to awkwardly cut on your desk. You don’t have spices, and you don’t have room for much of a pantry or condiments. And based on how Josh does videos, you’ll be given recipes with ingredients you’ll use once or twice before you hit the expiration date. And do you want those things crowding your fridge or pantry space when you have so little in the first place? I support the idea out of pure absurdity and how much it will crush Josh’s soul to have a microwave and mini fridge as his only appliance options. But if we’re being realistic, just eat your food court and your ramen and be happy.
2 года назад
@@seanmatthewking Yeah um…we didn't have a food court either so there goes that. My school owned a "cafe" that didn't serve full meals and it was a train ride away. And to answer your questions, yes actually. You do awkwardly make your food at your desk. Maybe not the microwave as his only appliance but to use things that someone would have in a dorm. Hell, I even used an iron and tin foil to make a quesadilla before and it was probably one of the best cheap meals I've had. No, I didn't have a cutting board but I did have a knife and a plate to cut things with. As far as space, I had my bed lofted for the majority of my time living there so storage wasn't really an issue as far as things like spices and ingredients that don't expire fast. As for other things, I got everything in 1-3 serving sizes so nothing ever went bad. Again, about space, you can make it work. I dormed with 3 people and shared a bedroom. You can find ways to maximize space. You get really crafty with how you do things in college when you don't have any other options. Nothing stopped me from being able to make full meals with what little I had to work with. It's all about creativity. Edit: also, to your comment about ramen, yeah, no. I tried that along with a lot of other instant food my freshman year then ended up with high cholesterol and heart problems fairly fast. I didn't have a choice but to eat full and healthier meals. Again, when there's no option, you make it work. 2nd Edit: last thing, when I transferred schools to one that had a kitchen (still no food court) for the people in the dorm to use, it was two refrigerators for ~450 people to use so… yeah

@@Balo657 it's a process you invest in lil by lil Here's a decent starting point. 1. Buy Multiple sizes airtight canisters & lots of them 2. Buy every oil and vinegar and cooking wine you can 3. Buy up every spice or herb or dried fruit you can 4. Buy empty uniform glass ware for oils and spices 5. Appliances. They can be expensive they can be cheap. 6. Cooking utensils and measuring spoons and cups. 7. Buy a Label maker. (walmart) $40.00 Figure out which kitchen appliances you need and will actually use on a daily basis

$30 meat grinder from harbor freight. Ive done a few batches of buy one get one free sale chuck, pork shoulder, and chicken. It paid for itself within one 15 lb batch compared to pre ground. Vacuum sealed and froze it, stocks me up for weeks to months at a time. Great value.

Hey Josh, great video! It seems like whenever the talk comes to hotdogs everyone seems to try to make the biggest and fanciest kinds. But I challenge you to improve a more simpler classic design (a hotdog and it's chili). I live in Georgia and we have a famous hotdog joint called The Varsity. I think they have the best hotdogs and I'd like to see you take them on. Best wishes to Papa!

Just tried making papas buns myself really need go get a scale because apparently my "by eye" portioning skills are trash but for the first time at the age of 25 I'm finally expanding my culinary skills into some forms of baking. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to make my culinary dreams come true. Shout out to @joshuaweissman from the fort hood area of Texas. Love the content and I hope you keep it up for a long time bud. Maybe one of these days I'll get to meet you in person. I'd love to learn a thing or two from someone so close to my age.

Never, ever, ever could anyone recreate a stadium hot dog of any type. It’s impossible. It’s the atmosphere that makes them so darn good! Sitting in your seat at the stadium, eating a hot dog cannot be duplicated.

Comment 360, and we're going full circle with this one. Joshua is a certified Chef. I don't want to hear all the complaints about how his dishes are labor intensive and extravagant. He is trying to give you a very good meal for a cheaper per serving price than it would cost at the Restaurant or ballpark. Great food takes some tools and time to make, no matter what you do. He's doing a very good job of keeping it cheaper, as he says, for the quality it produces.
