Gamera and Godzilla belong to a different companies that, as far as I know, never have done a joint project. So the way Ash's squirtle uses hydro pump is a reference to Gamera's Spinning flight in the Gamera movies.

6:12 Bite was a normal attack in gen one, turning it into a physical move, later it became a dark type move in gen 2 and 3, meaning that it became a special move, due to how dark type moves were always special moves, prior to the special and physical split in gen 4, where it became a physical move once again.

0:23 fun fact in comparison to the move in the Gen 1 games, Chansey hit Meowth with one PP of doubleslap for "hit the target 4 times". Cause one time hit of double slap shows 4 hit markers on a target. So meowth hit 16x in the anime accounts to getting a 4x hit from one doubleslap use

One hit ko moves only hit if the user Pokémon is a higher level. So the machamp technically didn’t cheat cause it was probably a higher level than the gligar.

Bonus fact for pound: The German version of the name was mistranslated. Instead of using a word for pound as in "to smack someone" they used the word "Pfund", which means pound as in british money or the weight unit. It took them until sword and shield to replace "Pfund" with a more proper translation ... "Klaps".

Flail has been translated to "Dreschflegel", which describes the medieval weapon flail, not the action of flailing around. But "pound" is still the most legendary mistranslation. Fuck them for "fixing" it in gen 8.

19:44 Actually acid armor making pokemon invisible makes sense because in japanese it means "melt" or something like that, in the anime vaporeon disappears when using it in water. There are other explanations that make sense also but i can't remember.

Actually "portazo" means bang or slam. "Puertazo" is the word you are looking for that means door-slam, the beginning of the word is "Puerta" which means door

This is incorrect. Portazo does indeed mean door slam. Puertazo means doorbuster, i.e. an unusually low sale price. Some people commonly confuse the two.

The reason Bind can effect Ghost types in Generation One was cause of programming error that made them immune to Psychic type moves instead of normal type moves!

For number 68 counter, I think it’s countering the last move you used and not the item because in Gen 1, that’s how it works in battles. Which fun fact lets Gengar use counter on a Pokémon’s explosion when it revenge switches in and is faster. Even thought counter only works on normal and fighting type moves that Gengar is immune to

Nope, it is indeed countering the item. You could have used only stat-altering moves in the battle and Counter will still deal damage.

Like with most One-Hit KO moves, Guillotine has a small chance of inflicting a KO, so the Machamp surviving isn't necessarily suspicious, though it probably would have been better if they dodged it!

Basic forms of attacking like scratching, punching & kicking were probably thought of 1st when designing moves. & Hitmomlee really benefited from that, getting 3 signature moves of its own. Even tho the 1st two could've been given to some other mons. Like Jump Kick Doduo or Ponyta. 11:33 which makes it even better on top of its annoying effect of stunning the target.

growlithe is based on the liondog from witch Komainu and shisa were derived and I recall 1 of the 2 being reffered to as a dragondog so maybe that's why growlithe could learn it. Drowzee probably can learn poison gas because it's based on a baku which eats dreams, this being often depicted as them inhaling smoke, so poison gas is them spitting nightmares.

I always find it interesting when people relate things a Pokemon can just do naturally because of the type of creature it is, to it doing an attack. Like, just cuz the Pidgey line cant learn Peck, doesnt mean it cant just peck cuz it's a bird. AceTrainerLiam does that a lot in his Pokemon WTF Moments series, where someone will tell their pokemon to do something that isnt an attack, but just a natural thing it can do, (like Ash telling Heracross to use his horn to toss the opponent) and saying "THATS NOT A MO~~~~VE"

7:40 Dobbs saying Gamera is part of the Godzilla franchise. Gamera has his own movies and series. He is not part of the Godzilla franchise. Why are there people that think Gamera and Godzilla are owned by the same people? Godzilla is own by Toho. Gamera was owned by Daiei Film then later owned by Tokuma Shoten and Kadokawa Daiei Studios. He was intended to compete against Godzilla's success.

The same route that you catch Nidoran has Mankey. At level 9 Mankey learns Low Kick. Low Kick is a Fighting Type Move. Beldum no longer learns JUST Take Down. Now it also learns Tackle which it starts with and gets Take Down later. Bite wasn't a Physical Move in Gen 3. It became Physical in Gen 4.

1:57 The machamp could have been higher level. The way OHKO moves work is that they have a base of 30% accuracy, gaining 1% accuracy for each level the user is higher then the opponent, so a level 50 Gligar using Guillotine on a level 5 Magikarp would have a 75% accuracy, but OHKO moves always fail if the user is lower level then the opponent. A level 50 Gligar using guillotine on a level 51 Machamp would fail.

In Gen I, OHKO moves actually was determined by the Speed stat. Edit: That said it appears this was a Gen II anime or later, given the Gligar, so fair enough.

I found something out about waterfall. I thought it was only in gen II and later, but saw that Seaking learned it in gen 1. Finding this out, I wonder why other water types didn't learn it.
