In this Crochetvibe crochet tutorial I´ll show You how to crochet a bernat yarn crochet beanie for beginners. This easy crochet hat is for beginners as well and Bernat yarn is perfect for a crochet hat project or a crochet beanie. So how to crochet hat for men with Bernat velvet yarn is an easy diy tutorial for a hat or a crochet beanie for women.
I only took about 1 hour to make, so it´s a very fast crochet project.
In the tutorial, I make a crochet beanie for an adult, but You can make it in any size You like, just do the brim shorter or longer. This is an excellent crochet mens hat / crochet beanie for men.
You can follow this crochet beanie tutorial even if You are a beginner. I will go forward very slowly and explain everything I´m doing in this crochet hat pattern.

@@DivingDucksCrochet I have many projects in process and several quilts in beginning stages. I broke my left femur August 2 and I thought I would get a lot done but noooooo, I fell and landed on my right wrist and am just now being able to manuver to crochet and sew. I will though get some made before Christmas.

instructions in writing (for those who want to learn crochet pattern instructions!) if the creator doesn't want written instructions let me know and i'll remove this. legend: ch - chain hdc - half double crochet 1.ch30 (or enough chains to be ~30cm long) 2. turn, skip first ch, hdc 29 3. *turn, ch 1, work hdc in 3rd loop of previous row. *repeat step 3 until work is 58 cm in length (somewhere between 17-22 rows depending on tension) 4. stitch work together from the 'short' end (i can't make out what the stitch is called here?) using a tapestry needle 5. still using a tapestry needle, stitch around top of beanie in the center of each crochet row, pulling tight as you go to gather the work. 6. push needle through the inside of the hat and weave in end. pertinent to note that i definitely didn't need to ch30 to get to 30cm, it may be because i used an 8mm hook and not a 6mm or maybe bernat has changed the exact weight/thickness of this yarn since this tutorial was made. if you are normally a tight crocheter (a lot of people new to crochet are!) then you should try to use very low tension for this project. bernat has pretty poor stitch definition, especially in darker colors, so it's easier to work this beanie with lower tension. i tried getting to ch30 with a higher tension chain and lower tension crochet, but inevitably this causes the work to curl/pucker so make those first chains really loose (or you could alternatively work this into a foundation crochet stitch if you wanna be fancy about it and that may solve the curling issue). hopefully this helps anyone who comes across this tutorial and wants a little more info, or maybe wants to not have to scrub back and forth through the video a bunch! edit: also, if you maybe want a more gentle ribbing effect (could be nice if you're working with a lower weight yarn than bernat blanket) then you could try working into the back loop (hdc blo) instead of working into the third loop.
