I guess the sound will blow your brains out if a firetruck with alarm/horn is right next to you. But hearing that sound in the distance in NYC has something epic. A typical NYC 'thing'.

I drove Engine, Ladders, and Rescues as a Volunteer Firefighter for many years. I belonged to a combination Paid/Volunteer Fire Department in a small city in Upper, N.Y., and always wondered how emergency responders ever got to their call in NYC, or any other major Metropolitan area! Even in a small city we reached a the scene too late to do anything but save the exposures. I really admire the guys in the video an their counterparts.

I live in Rhode Island been to NYC a few times.Those sirens are so loud when going by you can't think.

I watched rescue#1 on run in nyc that driver or Engineer really knew his shit. He could wheel that baby like no other. That makes this retired engineer tip his helmet to him.

I'm a Firefighter Recruit on the west coast but damn I have to say FDNY has the best looking rigs in the entire Country. Respect from California.

Ok, I get that New York streets are busy, but from what I can see, about half of those drivers aren't even making an effort to try and pull over even a little bit. If you can't pull over all the way, fine, but at least make an effort to move over a little bit

The crazy thing is you rarely see a fire truck, police car, etc stop while it’s sirens are blaring but in New York you do quite often.
