No probs. I think that's a great direction you should consider for your channel. You've got a lot of quality informational videos. You probably under value how much people enjoy seeing someone like you going about their business and really living 'van life' through the good times and the difficult ones and even what you might think are the boring ones. You don't have to have something informational to show, just your thoughts about it because you're leading an interesting and alternative lifestyle that most people aren't brave enough to do even if they'd like to. I loved this video and if you do any more blog entries, even if it's just you chilling one evening then that's great to. I think your channel is going to do really well.

@@paulfensome1404 You're right, I'm beginning to think material things are a pain, we all have a house full of stuff that we need to insure and on top of that we have car that also needs to be insured. Im beginning to think a complete sell up and minimal possessions in a mobile home is the way to go.

@ bud weisser my advice mate is never burn your bridges consider raising money on your house to buy your motor home and rent your house out, that way you still have an appreciating asset in your house and it is providing you with an income which could offset most of your vanlife expensea, you can try van life and if after 6 or 12 months then you will have a better idea if it's for you and you can go back to your house if you wish or carry on as you are, I wish you all the best in your decision good luck.

@@connor9015 I did and the worst I got was a bill for £700 - but my Moho got fire damaged and they gave me a brand new one for 2 weeks and then paid out for it - SO it's worth it as you get contents cover too as well as breakdown and loads of other stuff

I hear ya. I’ve a 100mile round trip to work so when I’ve got 2 long days back to back with minimum rest between I take mine and park in the staff car park for the night. It gives me 3 hours back to rest properly. Love staying in it. What makes me laugh and you will understand is when people say oooo won’t you be cold lol.

You're so right as half the traffic on the road are probably on the to or from work going from or to their house or work Eg the commute you don't have to do thus saving time and money and it gives you a flexible lifestyle More and more people will be doing it Most people don't want a house

I totally agree. I used to alternate between Norwich , where my elderly mum lived in an old folks home, and Brighton and it's bohemian lifestyle. Old Folks home let me stay in the car park, they even put a power line out a window in the Winter. No problem with water, washing and all that stuff. Brighton by the seaside, Parking on the downs. Bliss.

Nice one. That's a curry good reason. Don't understand why loads more truckers don't do this. Makes sense with the hours drivers work. I think people assume you need to give up your house to try this life. But that's not necessary. I've rented mine out before and I will again when I'm on the road long term. The house pays for itself. It's an appreciating investment. It's a safety net in case things go tits up. It's an alternative if you just get fed up with van life and fancy bricks and mortar for a bit. Why sell up ? Happy travels everyone. John

My only concern with a motorhome vs. a truck and travel trailer is: if the engine or something else starts having trouble. then ye got to find a mechanic and find a hotel or something cause most often the mechanic takes a few hours or in some cases even days to fix the vehicle. if I'm going to be stuck for days in a town or city, I'd at least be able to lug my trailer to a spot while the vehicle is at the shop.

Could you possibly cover the reasons why you didn't go for the more stealthy option of a van conversion? And how important stealth really is? I've been thinking stealth and compactness are a big deal but you've said how you've never had any bother in 2 years, so I'm now thinking about getting a coach built like yours for the extra space, shower, etc.

I did think about going for a stealth conversion but decided against it because of a few reasons. I've not got the time, skills or space to convert my own and I just knew I'd start and it would drag on and on, not only that if I didn't like the Vanlife after 6 months I've then got a very very small market of buyers to sell the van conversion too unlike a motorhome which would be pretty easy to sell to anyone. The extra space is amazing too compared to a van. I've not had any problems with urban camping in the motorhome in 2 years of doing it. Hope this helps Tony 😁😁👍👍

@@TheUrbanMotorhome , thanks for taking the time to reply mate, much appreciated. I intend to be more rural than urban so I'm hoping I won't need stealth, although I'm still a bit undecided. Even in smallish villages you can get a couple of drunk idiots or yobs spoiling your sleep on their way home from the pub, so being less obvious does have some appeal, but I love the extra sense of space in a coach built motorhome, plus as you say it's already built, and I suspect you'll get more of your money back when you finally sell.

Yeah I know what ya mean but it's swings and roundabouts couple of drinks can easily bang on a motorhome like wise couple of yobs could think there's tools in a van....let your lifestyle and the the way you want to live influence your decision if say cos there's gonna be nob heads about regardless lol. Yeah your spot on with the money part too, well looked after motorhomes hold there money like gold 😁👍

If you worry about theft of the vehicle you probably need all the security gadgets, steering lock, CCTV, pedal locks, battery isolation, wheel clamp, tracking device, agreed value insurance and a rotweiler .

It must be easier to park up during the day time than it is at night. Residents seem to ask more questions at night and get more anxious about who is in their parking space. During the daytime the signs that say "No Overnight Parking " can be ignored.

Darren what about drinking alcohol when you Kip in your van, how is it viewed legally mate? As in if someone asked you to move the van & you’ve had some wine with dinner. Would the police say it’s ok to move on the next day?

John The lion heart , yes you can get both drunk and charged , provided it is actually set up for the home part of its purpose no one will bother you if example you just parked in a side street and got blutered it could be an issue with some jumped up coppers.

Great video! But is it legal to sleep in your RV out in the streets? In the Netherlands it's illegal to sleep in random streets (like at your friends place). How do you do this? Or is it legal in the UK?

Yeah, it's shell's loyalty scheme and it's pretty good to be fair, I only fill up there and often get money off vouchers like £5, £7, £9 so well worth it

Class C very nice - only real expenses. Gasoline, insurance, maintenance, food plus hate your neighbor just move vs insurance (home & auto), maintenance, utilities and crazy neighbors.

I don't want to piss on your fireworks or anything while you are on a roll, but have you got a contingency plan in place for when your van finally breaks down & becomes uneconomical to repair, which will effectively leave you homeless and in a situation like what Mevi is going through at the moment? ..Not a good place to be!

Barry Neville if you’re clever, earning a full time salary you’d be setting money aside every month for maintenance and repair costs, earning £1600.00 a month you could easily put £200.00 aside a month for MOT & repair costs, that’s £2400.00 per year! Do that every year and when it does finally give up he’ll have enough saved to buy a newer motor home. No pissing on anyone’s fire! Just plan ahead :-)
