#1 Subaru Car Camping Build 

I am just going to say this now (30 seconds in) on behalf of my future self: I knew I would like this build the moment I saw how organized everything is.

Awesome setup!! This is easily one of the best ones I've seen, love how everything is so organized and with a purpose!

Matthias, your mother is not only beautiful but an amazing woman so make sure you look after her. Mother you should be extremely proud of yourself because your camping build is brilliant. Both you and your mom are incredible! I love the glow and giddiness she has when talking about her build. Having something fit so well and so functional with limited tools just shows how careful she was with her work and research. I have a 2021 Forester Sport and a 2008 4Runner SR5 that I use for camping, depending on where it is. I would love to have an organization system like you guys one day! Nice work!

I like the build/storage system, impressive … as a forester owner, I am always curious to know, with the under bed/platform choice, how easy or not is it to get to the spare wheel, if & when needed,? not just the wheel, the Jack, other hard tools that can be also kept in the under floor compartment, eg small axe/hatchet, tow all/hitch when not in use, hammer (for tent/awning pegs, if fitted to rack), etc … because I do not want to remove everything above floor, to get to the wheel, in case of a flat/changeover, I’ve opted to have a bed on the 2/3 side (behind drivers side, and a fridge or 12v cooler, plus all other bits and pieces position on the 1/3 single rear seat up, and have a tablet holder on the rear of front passenger headrest which allows a sit-up "lounge" space for watching vids or whatever on the tablet/screen mounted behind the front passenger head rest. Anyway, just wondered how you manage to get to the darn spare wheel if you needed to?

As an American with German parents I can appreciate the obsession for organization. Well done.

Very cool build! I have a 2017 outback as well and did a build last year but want to rebuild now that Ive spent a few months traveling/camping in it and know more about what I want. I really like the drawer system and overall layout. Thanks for taking the time to show us your awesome build!

What a great idea for those who can sacrifice the back seats and trunk area. I could. It doesn't really look that complicated for those who are handy and crafty. Ive got German blood in me as well. Ill be subscribing to your channel. Im 57 with a no build set up. I learned about that from Mini Van Lee.

I'm sick of tired of sleeping in my corolla and decided to get an outback. My father has helped me out with all my builds and projects over the years but there is one thing he requires is plans plans plans.... do you happen to have anything drawn up that you would be willing to share? Even though my needs are different as i got a bunch of solar equipment and an RV fridge to keep my insulin cool he still wants to see plans and not watch a video. but very neat build and very well done. nothing like mine over the last decade.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the advantage of this vs having a rooftop tent and just using the normal trunk space for storage?. It seems like you'd have just as much space without having to do all the modification to the car.

It's so cool to see the silverware case that you have. I'm 29 and grew up with many kids having small versions of that SpakeMaker pencil case in school in the early 2000's.
