St. Frances is a great team. They play hard, as you can see in the footage. But what kills them is their passing game. Against the top teams in the country, you GOT to have a passing game.

Yeah that hurt being so one dimensional on offense. But when you are so used to being so much bigger and faster then everybody on the offensive line why throw the ball? Against most teams some of Carrum runs are TDs. But against MD they were just long runs or little gains because MD had speed on defense and if one guy missed there was two or three guys to clean it up.

SFA on paper looks unstoppable I was at the game they have the biggest OL\DL I’ve ever seen very impressive. But, MD interior line has better technique. SFA never been punched in the mouth like that and was probably surprised of the discipline and speed of MD. Bryce Young was poised in that pocket even had less than 2 seconds and still made big plays with his accuracy and his legs. Coaching was also the difference SFA did a poor job of scouting. They probably thought with there size was gonna run all over MD but that wasn’t the case. SFA running back is the real deal 24 great vision hard runner with great speed. Coach Pogi will fix the offense and find a QB or passing coordinator somewhere.

This is the bottom line. Mater Dei has been a powerhouse sports and football program for decades. Prior to 5 years ago they were winning on scheme and coaching with very few top flight athletes. Then Bosco being tired of being dominated by Mater Dei starts to raid the inner city youth programs and began to beat Mater Dei for a few years. So what did Mater Dei do, they linked up with a few of the best youth football programs like the IE Ducks, OC Buckeyes, Carson Colts etc... and started bringing in super athletes. So now instead of Pete Vandegas you have Leroy Jenkins and Matu Falu playing those positions with a division 1 coaching staff. If you watch MD and Bosco in person and then go to a regular high school football game it's not even the same sport.

The back end of the Trinity isn't as good as the past few years. Santa Margarita has fallen. OLU just got body bagged And Servite, while on an upward trend is a year or 2 away from being good.

VERY top heavy atm but I heard servite got almost an entire one of those good pop Warner squads to reach for highschool so like you said hopefully next or the year after they will be good and Jserra been decent recently

St. Frances is a great team with and NFL sized line, and D1 college sized DBs. Most highschool teams see that in front of them and are just intimidated... Cali ball is just different. When you have a squad like MD you are not scared of anything. So now that the fear factor is gone it comes down to making plays and execution. MD did that better. And Bryce Young is just special, there's no way around that. Hes the best QB in Highschool, dont care what ESPN, 247 or any other recruiting service says.

St. Francis was a very good team, but Cali H.S. football is just at another level. SF would have had a hard time with a slew of Cali teams like Bosco, Mission Viejo, De La Salle, etc. They probably couldn't have handled any of the aforementioned teams as the coaching at these schools is at an elite level as well. Not a slam on SF, just a reality check. They have a nice little program over there.

You better be Crisp like a $100.00 Bill. If You can't Pass, and all You got is Your Running Game, You better make sure that Running Game is Oiled up and Ready to go on all Cylinders, and that goes Defensively as well, if You ain't got the Defensive Schemes, You better make sure that D-Line is like the New York Giants 2007 D-Line or that Seattle Seahawks Superbowl D-Line, just Stunt and Twist the D-Line and and leave Everyone else in Zone to Cover the Field. But then again, it is (Mater Dei) that's a Tall Task to ask. But You get My point

Thats exactly what it looked like. They came out trying to intimidate MD, but didn't realize they play teams physically similar to them on the regular. They had an obvious size edge but couldn't match the crisp execution, and MD didn't fear the hits like every other team St. Frances has played probably has. St. Frances is still hella good and likely 2nd only to IMG on the east coast but they would be just another trinity league team in OC

I'm not saying they gonna be unstoppable because even the Patriots aren't unstoppable. All I'm saying is to me, coach Rollinson is the best high school coach in the country and as long as he continues to get top tier quarterbacks, MD will always have an opportunity to be successful.

Problem with these "Allstar teams" IMG, St Frances, etc.. is their offense is always so Vanilla and QB play ends up being subpar. Its very difficult to put in an offense to the top 25 standard in a month.

The line was huge. But some of those guys were just too slow. If they didn’t get there hands on the MD linebackers it was over. Just to much defensive speed overall! And again like I said when MD schedule this game they had Elias Ricks on the team. If they still had him the game would of even been worse because MD would of put 8 in the box all night and dared St. Francis to throw!

Barry Block this year no, but they’re one of the teams in past decade that’s been very consistent and same thing goes for Katy. Northshore and Duncanville are on the rise from just being consistent for only 2-3 years as of late

I know those teams were powerhouses last decade when I was in High school but yes Allen is that consistent dominant team from Dallas the last decade no lie.. Katy and North Shore are both teams I heard are kinda making the come up for themselves.. Also Lake Travis I know is in Austin but they been productive in getting their boys out to D1 schools

Hey, SF's uniforms are tight AF. They got a hard hitting defense. Some nasty looking hits in that game. But it was all #9 for the Monarchs. He can beat you with his arm, his feet and his head (did yall catch that quick pitch he made on the sweep play... that tells you he never stops looking for ways to get the ball to his playmakers). I just have 1 request... can someone please ask #9 to sign with my Florida Gators. We win National Titles 4 straight with him on our team. If he ain't gonna be a Gator then tell him he better not go to Bama! I will have to put a hit out on him if he ends with Saban. Lol... Good Luck to both teams the rest of this season. Looks like Mater Dai gonna run the table... and will end up as 2019 Nat. Champs. SF will finish in top 20, possibly top 10.

i hate Mater Dei, but they are the undisputed best team in the nation right now, i still remember how pissed I was when Bosco lost to MD in the CIF title game last season, their offense failed big-time, collapsed, I still remember thinking i'm hoping that Bosco can get its revenge on MD, avenge their back to back post-season losses to MD, the 2017 and 2018 title games, but sadly, I don't see it happening this year, MD is too good, too talented this season. I believe MD is returning more starters from last season than Bosco is right? Also, some sports analysts, consider the 2017 Mater Dei team to be the best team in CIF history, best ever to come out of California or maybe even the West Coast.

Not to mention they had to travel across country and the talent back east isnt what MD sees on the regular. St. FRANCIS Is in a league of theor own back east as most teams in Maryland wont even play them. Mater Dei is a perrenial power and gets athletes from a much larger pool of talent.

They have the trinity vs USA showcase where 3 teams from the trinity league (Bosco, Mater Dei and Jserra) invite 3 teams across the nation to challenge them. 2022 sept 16th Mater Dei and Bosco will take on two teams from hawaii.

Mater Dei didn't have a true home field. They play home games at the santa ana bowl stadium. Servite also don't have a true home stadium
