watching this performance of tremolo + delay makes me cry. not just tear up, it makes me cry. something about seeing these guys reach the peak of their being in playing their music, especially the guitarist with the yellow guitar, resonates with something deep inside me. I'm so grateful for the gift of music. it makes me appreciate this existence despite how wretched our place in it is.
Their somewhat... Non-specific tuning really adds to the Toe concept. On top of their loose tempos it makes for just an unbelievably unique and progressive musical experience
Even the drums have a dissonance, like he intentionally detuned a lug on each after they were dialed... Surprisingly good sounding in this context though.
wow I keep feeling just the same every time I hear this I think it's something special about this live version, cause I can't hear it in the studio one
To me it looks definitely like a Ludwig Black Panther, along with a Ludwig Acrolite snare as well as all Paiste 2002 cymbals. 9 months too late, but hope you see it. :D
Has it been determined whether or not they're juiced when they play? Don't get me wrong, I love Toe, I'm just wondering if they're THAT into the music (in which case I don't blame them) or if they're on something (in which case my opinion of them wouldn't differ in the slightest).
I can tell you that Japan is seriously strict when it comes to drugs, and you will face serious consequences if you're caught. There's been stories of Japanese musicians caught possesing drugs, and they're pretty much fucked. Unless by ''juiced'' you mean intoxicated, in which case I wouldn't care too much, because alcohol is legal.
Based on Japanese culture and law I'd say they're probably just really that into the music. I doubt they'd be able to play that well if they were drunk, so I doubt they're high or drunk while they play.
