Hi. My name is Emely. I'm happy to hear your story. I'm 28 and i had a ablation 2 weeks ago in Toronto. I was born with it. During my pregnancy last year my condition got worse and was beating 250 and up. 3 days after having my baby i had 3 trips to the ER. I was scared too in the beginning but my baby and God gave me strength to keep pushing. After surgery i only felt tiredness. I feel better than ever. Thanks for sharing your story.

Thank you for this video Jessica. Over the last 5 years I've realized that there was something weird going on with my heart, but my cardiologist was never able to catch me in a tachy state to document it. Fast forward to this year, and I've finally gotten to an ER in time for it to show on the ekg. Mine, like yours, so far haven't been super frequent, maybe 3-5 times a year at most, but more around the 2-3 like you mention. I'm reaching the "I can't live like this anymore" stage now, and researching ablation like crazy, making sure I get to know as much about people's experiences with the procedure to prepare myself. I also have a lot of anxiety and this whole thing has me pretty anxious for sure. Anyway, I want to thank you for this video because something about your voice and the way you tell your story is very soothing and comforting. Which is making me calm enough to not panic or be anxious about the possible procedure. I'm still not sure if I am going to go through with it, but I'm reaching a point where something has to change.

I was finally diagnosed with SVT after years of being told “you just have anxiety calm down” I’ve only had maybe 6-7 short episodes in 14 years but they been getting closer together and longer because of how much anxiety and worry I have about my heart 2 weeks ago my heart stayed around 140-160 for 35 minutes after I had bent over to pick something up.. in fact they usually happen when I bend over But because I have always been told it’s just anxiety I just tried to power through it and breathe deep.. except that when I would lay down and breathe calmly it actually made my heart rate jump up So I just kept waking around Until I finally gave up and went to the ER the episode stayed so long that they were able to catch it on the EKG thank God! Now everyone is pressuring me to get an ablation but I’m so afraid of dying on the table or it not working for me and then it getting worse after

Thank you for this video. I had my ablation yesterday. I've had SVT for 20 years now. You're situation sounded like mine. Not very often but would happen 1-3x per year or not at all. Over the past couple of years it has become more frequent and now I'm 40 and decided to have the ablation. Your video was very helpful as I'm now dealing with the after feelings. Anticipation, skipped beats, fluttering, but other than that I feel good. Thankful to know that God is in control and it's not by are own strength we carry on. Thanks again!

Thanks for posting this video! I had mine 2 weeks ago and felt better the next day, but I had heard that for some it took longer. I can imagine it was frustrating to have more problems after the surgery. You feel "what was the point". But you're right, nothing is permanent. I am glad that it has healed and you are finally seeing the benefits of the surgery. I say I didn't worry the night before the ablation, but I will admit that I only got about 2 hours of sleep, lol. I will say, that despite feeling better the next day, I spent the next week anticipating another SVT episode. It was weird. I realize now that the tachycardia/palpitations happened more than I realized. There were smaller episodes happening that I guess I had gotten used to. Thank you again for sharing your story. I know other people will appreciate it as well.

I'm scheduled for ablation in 3 weeks. More hopeful than concerned. Already experienced implantable cardioverter placement and then triple bypass surgery with replacement of my Aortic valve. Heart is now pumping normally but still having rhythm issues. I'm fairly confident that the ablation will get my rhythm back to normal. I'm happy to hear your results are positive. Stay healthy!

my 8 year old son had an SVT ablation surgery 5 days ago! He had episode's at school were the paramedics read his heart rate at 260! He was having episodes every 10 days and the pills were not helping. The surgeon had to go in through both thighs and his neck, the SVT was located behind his heart. He's extremely active with football, ninjastics, baseball, and playing... it's killing him not to do anything! thanks for the video

I know this video was posted a couple of years ago, but I just wanted to tell you how helpful this was to me when I had my ablation done two days ago. I am a nurse, and I had researched everything about this ablation procedure into the ground, but it didn't help me to not get kind of emotional, as well, when I started feeling the palpitations the night after my procedure. Every PVC, every skipped beat, every run of tachy beats, was so unnerving. I was hypersensitive to every feeling in my chest, and, I, too, thought, "Oh my goodness! What have I done?" I remembered what you had said in your video, and held onto that. After about 24 hours, I began to feel much better. I just wanted to thank you for posting this video because it helped me in a fearful time. :) I hope you are still SVT free after these last 2 years!

First I want to thank you for posting this positive video on RU-vid as you know millions of people get on her and look to some research. And to be honest what others experience others have for what ever surgery or drug they want to take and they see others say oh heck no or yeah that was a life savor, to me goes a long way. I have anxiety and panic attacks and have it under control with some meds including a beta-blocker because I use to wake up with a really fast heartbeat when I would have bad dreams and then like an idiot drive myself or call 911 to go to the ER. And after a bunch of test they sent me home saying it was a "Panic Attack". When you are so peacefully sleeping and at times I am running away in my dreams I know i am being chased by someone or I am flying I know I am going to wake up with a sinus tachycardia. I've gone to the ER and they look at the monitor and see my heart is 184 and ask, "So what brings you in today?" REALLY?? Did you take any illegal or legal drugs like "Sudafed"? And I always say no. So why is your heart going so fast? OKAY, enough with all the questions. I think I am having a heart attack but it's most likely a huge panic attack and my heart is racing as a result but just to be on the safe side I came in I tell them. Just last night after eating a small meal I decided to walk the dog and I got about 4 blocks down the road and I got to the end of the street and turned around and my heart took off like a fricken rabbit. I started getting lightheaded, I felt every single beat, I felt like I was about to leave my body, I thought I was going to faint/pass out but I took deep breaths and I called home and my 12 year old picks up and she was so supportive and said daddy it's okay you're going to be just fine it's just another stupid panic attack. LOL. Well, I had just taken Atenolol 25mg 3 hours before my walk but for some reason many times after I eat and walk or go workout or even not my heart goes fast and I mean not like 120 to 130 but super fast like in the 180 to 200 range. So I just e-mailed my Cardiologist and asked him if he would do an MRI of my heart. He thinks all i am about is anxiety, stress and panic attacks. Well, I have it under control but the eating from what I read was that it can touch this nerve we all have and it's called the "Vagus Nerve" which can provoke these palpitations. I also looked at ablation because my mother had it done 20 years ago and hasn't looked back since. My primary care doctor told me that you have "excessive adrenaline and cortisol being released" as he put it very sensitive to everything including my heart beating in my chest and how I can feel and notice things because I am hyper-alert. He is right though. I was wondering if this would put my heart palpitations or these rushes of adrenaline that make my heart race like a bat out of hell? Remember I took the best Beta Blocker on the market today and that is Tenormin/Atenolol and even with that it still took off. I was told to eat slowly, chew my food much more than I do now, do NOT swallow air and stay away from carbs and spicy foods. I LOVE spicy foods and have been eating it for 35 years at least. Anyway, thank you again for sharing your story on here and hopefully I too can get an answer of yes we should do this or no take 50mg of Atenonol instead of the 25mg's you take daily. Who knows what he will tell me. Your video was posted in 2015 and now that we are in 2017 could you give us or me an update about how you feel today please?? I would love to hear what you have to say. Thanks and have a great weekend!!

Three Chicks and a Couch What side effects have you had? I've suddenly (over 6mo) gained 40lbs and get super bad headaches often. Idk if it's because I'm no longer active as I was Or due to the flecainide/metropol combo or what. My ablation is in 2wks and I'm seriously scared. Mostly because I have to be off both meds for 5 days pre-op! The med combo is the ONLY thing stopping my SVT/A-Fib/flutters from happening.

I had my ablation just over 6 years ago.. I was so worried about it. It all went well the actual procedure was easy and no worries. It was the hours laying flat on my back with a pressurised clamp strapped to my groin.. it was hell at the time but was one of those things that wasn’t so bad looking back.. 2 weeks later I was back at the gym (in hindsight it was too early, but I had been for months because of my svt). 7 weeks later I got a massive tattoo on my ribs (which was certainly too early as i think it put to much stress on my heart). But now 7 years later I’m alm good it hasn’t come back and those svt atta is are just memories!

Am glad the surgery went well my friend!! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I had Tachycardia since I was a little boy, maybe 15 or under. Now 33 y.o am having way more frequent and longer lasting Tachys since over a year, I suspect that it is due to the fact that I am way more stressed these days or because I took creatine supplements for 3 months or am just getting older, maybe am doing more exercise than before etc.... hard to tell. My Tachy is triggered by sudden movements I make, predominantly when I bend to pick up something or to lotion my feet, wear socks...and if I am wearing my pant belt very tight it's really easy to trigger it. Other triggers are leaning back to stretch my chest while sitting; just sitting abruptly etc... My Tachy can go up to 200 or 160 bpm. The worst time it happened was 6 months ago in the airplane! It lasted 4 hours, most scary and stressful time of my life, it started after I yawned hard and stretched following a meal and some wine, I was tired and my pant belt was a little tight as well, I am also very tall so airplane seats are uncomfortable for me. What can you do in the air in an airplane?! Tried everything water on my head, sitting on the floor... it stopped after 4 hrs of distress as soon as we landed when getting ready to get out, oh boy was it relief ?!! Longest 4 hours ever! It really seemed endless. It was already taking longer than before for my SVT to go away but since this one it never stopped on its own and happened more frequently, now every time I have an SVT I feel like they are more sever, I am more short of breath and I relate it to that airplane episode, so being nervous just feeds the Tachy even more and it becomes a vicious circle. When I was younger until about a year ago, it would go away on its own after maximum 10 to 30 seconds, now the only way to go back to normal rhythm is to be rushed to the hospital to get Adenosine shots. Those shots are so efficient it works within 10 seconds or less Although I noticed I was extremely short of breath and fatigued the following few days especially if I workout or after a meal, when you get the shots it feels really weird hard to explain but I don’t think it’s bad as others describe it, you feel paralyzed, you feel some pressure in your head but it all only lasts 10s. In the past, the vagal maneuver that worked all the time for me was to be in a very quiet place if possible, crouch with only my toes on the floor, torso slightly leaning forward; and even if it's counter-intuitive and I felt the urge to breath very fast, I forced myself to breath slowly and the Tachy stops while I take slow deep breaths and I hold my breath for a very short time after inhaling. Considering the above and the high success rate of ablations, I am thinking to do the procedure. The cardiologist also recommended it to me, I am very very nervous about it but after watching a few videos on RU-vid I feel like it's the right thing to do I am a very active person, I like to move, travel, workout… and I want to be worry free. Any further advice, comments or questions you may have are welcome. I was going to just right a paragraph but I couldn’t help adding all the details, and I hope this long comment will help other people.

As promised here is my update: I just got home form the hospital. Had my procedure done this morning/afternoon. I was scared shitless. Cried. Cried some more. And more. Lol. I had an awesome hospital staff. Then the anesthesiologist came in and told he was going to get me real high hahaha. Procedure took a little over three hours. They found the one path and took care of that and ended up finding a second so they got that one too. When I first woke up I felt sore. Chest felt a little uncomfortable, once you get up and moving it feels better. Incision sight is sore. They do have you lie still for two hours. I’d say just do it. Take care of it. The unknown is scary. I get it but face your fears for a better life of health.

I was born with WPW syndrome, but it never appeared on end ecg findings, and always the tests were good. One day I had that feeling but after 2-3 it stopped. So I went to my cardiologist to check and he found out the delta wave. So he suggested I took the catheter ablation procedure, not because he was afraid of anything but so he can be 100% sure to be in the clear and because I am in the Navy he wanted me symptom free so I can work with my mind relaxed. Had the first surgery at 2015, the pathway was destroyed though it grew back and it appeared in the form of atrial fibrillation, but with no tachycardia just a bit out of rhythm. We had a 24 hour Holter, and it showed that the pathway on occasions was disappearing, it was like half dead to make it more simple. So we did the second ablation at 2017 and the pathway was destroyed from both sides and it never appeared(knock on wood). The only thing I have sometimes is a skipped beat, but I had them before I had the first ablation. Those are pure stress and anxiety and no need to worry. Cardiologist suggested to do some aerobic, lose some weight and above all, clear my head from bad thoughts. As for some people asking about the procedure, don't be afraid, the doctors who do ablation are very good and have many years of experience, they do a very good background check. The only thing that annoyed me, was they put in my legs bandages to close the small holes they did to pass the catheters and I was only having a bit difficulty in walking but only for a few days. Pathway destroyed, Holter findings never showed it again, only some extra systoles. Those are from stress. Don't be afraid guys!!!!

Remember that they did the 1st catheter ablation with humans in 1981. What is it now? 2020. The technology they have now is 2nd to none. They can cut the procedure down from 6 hours to 90 minutes. The preparation is longer than the procedure it self. Im glad I did it. You go in there and there’s an A- team waiting for you. Every one of those people knows exactly their role. You just gonna have to relax, have faith coz that’s what all of us should do, and you will glad and relieved that you went thru with it. I’m doing good so far. I’m still in a 3 months blanking period. Meaning healing time and will determine if afib is gone after 3 months. I am still on meds for rate, rhythm, and blood thinners. I’ll tell you this, even now I’m still on meds, I can see and feel the difference the procedure has done for me. Just follow every instructions from the beginning to the last part. You will be ok. Hope this helps everyone.

I had SVT ablation 3 days ago. They took me off my beta blocker 4 days before the procedure. Today rate has been as high as 142 and consistently over 100. I started thinking what if the ablation didn’t work (they couldn’t get me into SVT and instead ablated the dual node) and the reason I’m getting higher heart rates each day is because I’m further and further away from my last beta blocker dose? I hope my situation is similar to yours and I just need more time to heal. Thank you for sharing your video!

Yep I went back to the hospital twice from the weird new feelings but I was very weak before the procedure and even though I could feel an improved difference after the surgery, those new symptoms and weakness of course had me looking for an infection or a cause. It is important like you said to try to stay calm as much as possible. I had been on two different blockers that Didn’t work for me only made me weak as time went by.... so an ablation was the next thing to do. Oh and the two visits back to the hospital?.... they ran all the tests drew the blood while monitoring the heart and nothing was out of their testing parameters. It’s only been 5 days for me so maybe I should have waited to share my experience....I have got to the point now that I need to give my body a little more time for the expectations I tried not to have.

Thanks a lot for this video, it helped me a lot to calm my nerves. 💓I’m exactly like you very anxious. I will have mine cath next week and if they find it they will ablate it, I don’t have a official svt diagnosis because they never caught it , every time I went to the hospital it was a taquicardia. My doctor suggested me this study , my episodes are like yours maybe one or twice a year but very annoying and scary.

I have svt tachycardia where my heart goes to 250 and I’m 17, I pray to god everything goes alright. Nothing has happened yet to fix it. My appointments keep getting postponed and It happens like twice a month. I try not to stress out all the time. I hope medication or surgery helps. It was nice seeing how u had heart problems and everything went well.

I have a little bit of chest discomfort and my catheter insertion points are sore and I get tired while standing, but i'm glad that it's normal to feel this. @@erick7brian perfectly fine, actually! A few months afterwards I had to get used to not having it anymore, and I would get a few random quick palpitations because of the healing process, but that didn’t last long. Honestly, my life is so much more relaxing not having to worry about it happening! I’ve even been able to get back into exercising pretty vigorously which I’m pretty happy about. We can schedule and out patient procedure or stay and Thursday we can do the ablation. I said I'm here let's do it. Thursday rolled into O.R. 2 hours over and done and home by 10 pm. Can't say enough about the south miami hospital team.

I recently developed Afib. I think it began when I went through a very traumatic experience. I began to feel really depressed, then anxiety and panic attacks. And finally a experienced palpitations. It was a pretty scary experience for me. What made it worse is doctors would tell me everything was fine, even though I knew something was wrong. Only after going to hospital several times did they catch the Afib.

I am 5 days out of the hospital from an ablation, and the first couple three days were a bit scary as well, the ticker seemed to be having flashbacks (LOL), but it never went SVT! They have me on a beta blocker already from before it, and so maybe that's keeping me from having palpitations? I hope so! So far, so good!

Thank you SO MUCH for adding this! I am about 30 hours out from my SVT Ablation and I’m experiencing exactly what you describe with the “my resting heart rate was always normal, why is it higher(but not SVT high) now?” Like you I went right to worrying about a permanent issue, But I really hear you when you explain about how the heart just had a traumatic experience, they burnt part of it, it needs time to heal. More than that, hearing that things began to improve after five days and are even better after a week, is so encouraging. Thank you 1000 times for making this video. I will still be in touch with my cardiologist on Monday as directed, but this help me rest until then. Thank you so much.

Thank you for making this! I'm 16, I've had only 3 short SVT episodes, and my doctor already wants to do an ablation. I'm wondering if it's pre-mature and if it's really needed. He said they need to so an EP study to know if I have WPW, and he said "we might as well fix it (ablate it) while I'm in there." Still nervous that it is pre-mature.

I've had episodes for the last four years now and it only happens once a year and only in the wintertime. Sometimes it can last 15 min, last time it was 1hr and 30 min. I was magnesium deficient, so I started on a magnesium supplement RegMag and a potassium citrate supplement, and I've noticed two things, First thing I have a lot less palpitations, (after drinking the next day i would have a lot of palpitations, and with the supplements I didn't have any) and Second I lowered my blood presser. So, i'm hopping this helps, fingers crossed! Good luck to you all.
