In your video you said there wasn't a lot of competition, but it feels like there is. There are so many people trying to do KDP. Hopefully 2024 is a good year for KDP! I do have a question: are Niches like weight loss, etc. Oversaturated at this point? What are some niches to just avoid?
I would love to make this happen in 2024! I've started out with a coloring book. I hope to make some extra cash to join your program. Thank you for putting these videos together.
Sean, I have watched many of your videos and during my setbacks I keep making books ( I have 14 medium content books ready to go, 8 of those are kawaii children stories). While trying to figure out my small problems. But I'm hoping you can help me figure out something. I just want to be paid with a paper check here in the USA on KDP. How can I set that up. If you could do a video just on that, I know if I'm having that problem I'm sure other people are too.
Thanks for your content! I started publishing my book 3 days ago and at this moment I got 52 downloads. This feels very scary because I didn’t expect a single download in the first 3 months or more. How could I take this as a momentum? I guess this is a small push and in a few days it’s dead.
So, you are going to get reviews for the book before the book is published. And to do that you are going to give people a free copy of the book. But how do you get a copies of the book to give away if you have not yet published the book. (This is a genuine question). Sean, are you able to answer please?

Bro, why don't you show your own books as an example as you build the KDP business successfully? don't you think it would give you more credibility than showing someone's else work?
Great video!! May I ask how you sold your KDP account? I am interested in selling a couple of my online businesses (Etsy, Amazon,..) but I don’t know how or where to list. I appreciate your response.
This is the best video I've seen on the subject. Love the step by step! This has been a glimmer of a dream for a while, and the video makes me feel like I could really do it. Thanks so much.
I love watching your videos but recently, there aren't audible enough for my device. I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this. Your voice sounds so low.
Another great video! I made it to the end and liked the longer one with links to all the shorter ones. I tried a coloring book with Midjourney last June but didn't follow any of these steps. Thank you for getting me motivated again! I am going to do the upfront work like you say instead of just publishing one thing and being disappointed when it doesn't sell.
I have been a professional blogger for 20 years. 90% of bloggers do exactly what you did.. which is why they don't succeed. They start a blog and if the money isn't instant they give it up. Any business requires an investment of your time. Very few businesses are an overnight success. Make up your mind to succeed.. and DO NOT give up until you do!
No, Pubby is not allowed by Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Pubby is a platform that facilitates book reviews by connecting authors to other authors. It encourages a "review swap" culture, where authors review each other's books. Amazon KDP has strict policies regarding review manipulation, and using Pubby could be seen as a violation of these policies. Amazon's guidelines prohibit reviews that are influenced, including those obtained through platforms that exchange reviews or incentivize them in any way. If Amazon detects that reviews are coming from a source like Pubby, it could lead to penalties, such as the removal of reviews, suspension of the KDP account, or even a ban from the platform.
Very informative video again..mucho thx.. However I'm yet to get started with Amazon acc and uploading my ebk... I also want to get a few puzzle bks on... But getting hooked up on amazon and kdp acc is the deterant...need some help cause I'm from the Caribbean....taxes etc.....thx Mesg back plz..
I made it to the end. Thank you! I am wondering, can I start publishing without having started a company? Cause for POD t-shirts for example you need a company.
I stayed till the end...and i have a question. Your course says it has payment options..... From a single payment through twelve payments or $200.00 two hundered per month. I am home challenged but i can come up with 200 bucks per month. The problem is the service you have will not offer that option to me. I have been off- grid for years which i believe is the reason. At any rate, if that 200 dollar per month can happen im in. Any ideas?
Made it to the end. Thanks Sean. Quick question. Whats the best tool to get reviews for coloring book for adults and kids. Pubby seems to work best for ebooks...
Hey Awesome peps i created my first amazon KDP and i always have my account suspended after publishing a new book the issue is that all i get is the title RP code and since i uploaded a lot of books at the same time i don't know which one is concerned any ideas to help me remove those titels for people who had the same challenge ?
Thanks as always for the great advice and strategies! I've published a few coloring books on Amazon so far, and I am enjoying the process of learning more all the time.
Thank you for all your amazing advice and content! I’m already publishing coloring books but your tips have increased my sales in a month! I can’t thank you ENUF!
Thanks for this video. The setting of realistic timelines for first-timers was just what I needed to hear. I feel like I have finally found my niche. I will be watching all your videos pertaining to this. 😊
I'm a relative "new comer" to KDP during 2023. About 12 - 13 of my books sold fairly well during December in the U.K. and here in the U.S. as long as my bid rate was up around 60 cents. My orders for the month totaled a whopping 82 !! However, I don't have the financial capability to keep that bid rate going any longer. (I seriously sacrificed to do that high of a rate during December, but I needed to see if my books would be appealing enough to sell.) Obviously, they are. But after I've lowered the bid rate now, I'm getting less sales. I do realize that the pre-Christmas surge in consumer buying helped me tremendously. I've seen multiple, varied suggestions for how to keep sales ongoing, but I'm very limited financially at this point. Any other ideas? (I'm not very adept at social media.)
Sean bravo 👏🏽. Your tone greatly improved. Humble, empathetic. Thank you and sorry if I was too critical before. That was not fair. Anyway I’m wishing you the best and I wouldn’t have bothered commenting if I didn’t see the star in you. It was frustrating to see anything get in the way of that. Happy New Year as well.
I hope this helps me out, Sean. I’m just starting out and just looking for a modest income, hoping my novels can build into something that people can enjoy and hopefully get inspiration from. 🙏🏽
I am a bit confused about the royalties- I designed a journal, set the price for $14.99 and after the price of printing it (which is around $5) I would be making only $3.40 from it. Does that sound right?
My activity book for adults is launching in a few days. I want to get reviews. I’ve looked at services but thinking of posting on my neighborhood FB forum offering a free book on which they can provide an Amazon review if they wish to do so. Is this against Amazon’s rules? Since it’s an activity book, I think it needs to be to provide the actual printed book vs a PDF. Thoughts?
THANK YOU.... I have long been perplexed by how to be successful at this. I have an EXTREMELY underperforming book on Amazon now and will find a way to make it my first using this method. Question: Should I take if off and start over? I literally have no sales to speak of over three years. It is a non-fiction spiritual/inspirational 30-day Reflection book with photography. It is expensive to produce, so it sells for $20. I think I have good reviews (14 or 15). I just feel I need a reboot, relaunch, reworking.
@Sean Dollwet Great content; thanks! 2 quick questions: (1) Do you think it’s risky to publish a book that’s written by AI such as ChatGPT? I mean, AI is not perfect, and it might produce some info that’s not factually correct, and that could hurt the publisher’s credibility and might even result in a lawsuit. Should written books only be written by human writers then? (2) When using Facebook groups or services such as Pubby to request for reviews, do you use your real name? Or pseudonym(s)?
So ghost writer is $3.79 per 100 words and the standard non fiction book is 150 pages or 30,000 words, that means it costs over $1k per book. Is there any type of book that would be cheaper requiring less pages but have the same impact or market to create? Should we build towards high impact books and in the meantime focus on low to mid books, journals in the meantime?
Hi Sean. What type of computer are you using in this video? PC or Mac? I travel and use an IPad. My understanding is that Chrome plugins won’t work on IPad
Hi Sean, thank you for all you do for this community! Could you please suggest a resource for personalized activity books? I have a couple educational activity books for kids that the cover and two interior pages have the kids name. Where can I get those printed on demand? Thank you!
I have started my KDP journey on July 2023..In this 6 months I have published 30 Coloring book.. One coloring book is sold only 10 units from those.. Day by day I am getting frustrated for that.. 😢
Actually I've been following your blueprint, and my books actually not bad, it just the selling performance is one or two per month for each books 🤣🤣🤣 perhaps need to fix the niche, keywords and publish an ads... I don't know
Pls I need your help, i can't access my registered phone number on KDP and now i need to do the two step verification and they require the phone number😢. The option for using authenticator app isn't there, please help me
QUESTION: recently hired someone on fiverr to create my first coloring book. The gig said that it would create the interior and cover. Now that it is due in two days, they sent me an offer for. Formatting, which is more cost of course. I was told that it would be ready for upload when it was done from the first gig. What is happening? Is this normal for me now to have to pay? Additionally, for formatting? Thank you. I really appreciate your teaching.
Hi, Sean. Thanks for great video. I like to watch your video and hope to get your guide to start my own business on kdp amazon. ( I am Dat from Vietnam)
I rarely manage to watch longer videos untill the end, but finished this one. Great content. I like the realistic timeline. It's like mr. Beast says: make 100 videos (books) and improve something every time.
I'm almost certainly going to join Royalty Hero but I do have one question about this video. I have 2 med content activity books that have done well. One is a kids maze book and one is a large print word search. On average I've been selling about 8 copies a day but during the holiday season closer to 20/day. But when I saw in this video that you can start with ads for as little as $3/day, it makes me question things. I get very little impressions unless I'm up in the 0.75 per click range. Word search, coloring books, puzzles, mazes-- they've all become so competitive that $3/day sounds like it's advice from a different time. And groups that I'm a part of all complain of the same thing: Amazon Ads have become really expensive. Of course, I could be doing it wrong and if your Ads training in Royalty Hero can get me on a less expensive track, that would be awesome!
Good information. I have written about 24 or more books on Amazon. I have a question, I have a romance book on Amazon (first one) I am doing a series 3 books,I am thinking about using another platform to publish the 2 second book, because of distribution. The book would be in 53 stores. Any thoughts on this.
Thank You So Much! I am a beginner and your videos were very helpful to me. Please continue making videos about Amazon KDP publishing. My Dream is to become an Author and I think that finally, I am going to make my dream come true.
I so appreciate your videos Sean. Your experience and knowledge is invaluable...thank you for sharing and I wish you all the best. For me, my business isn’t being a publisher, it's being a writer. This has made me realise though the way to do this is to learn to produce, publish & earn to then have sufficient financial and time freedom to write what I want to. Bless you.
I seriously want to do this I’ve look at it several times looks easy but I’m sure there’s more to it that I’m going to invest some time in your post and make it happen
Hey Sean, Thanks for this awesome video, it covers everything but i noticed that you didn't mention A plus content at all ! Do you think that it's not important?
I absolutely love these videos I’m a newbie but you give out sooo much great information in them I appreciate them! Thank you I’m going to jump on this journey and see where it takes me!
Thanks for your amazing videos. I would like to ask some questions can I publish two activity books at the same time. It looks like pubby is for high content books and how to get reviews for low or activity books. I really appreciate your feedback.
Thank you thank you Sean! Loved this video - loved the step by step approach. I got a lot out of this longer video. I listened / watched it in chunks, took lots of notes. Now I feel more confident to get started. 😊
What type of electronic equipment do I need in order to do this business? I don’t have a laptop, or a desktop, all I have is my phone, do I need to buy a laptop in order to do this?
I made it all the way to the end and I am excited! I was almost finished my first book. I’m just putting the finishing touches on it and you have me the extra information I needed.
