Thank you for the update. I did bilateral bunion surgery last month, so both of my feet are in casts. Your 1st video really helped me. Praying for you and a full recovery. I hope I can get back to running which I enjoy.

Hi. I had lapidus bunion surgery in august 11, almost 3 months ago, and here I am at 4:40 AM without any sleep yet. I developed a very bad nerve pain too, worst experience ever.
@sandracanete3876 sorry to hear, I also had sleepless nights but now I am lot better..And feeling good with my decision to get surgery..Hopefully you will also feel good soon
Have you looked into using barefoot shoes? There are so many cool brands out there now & they are so much kinder to feet. Im having surgery this year so this has been helpful thanks! ❤
I do own barefoot shoes but I might need to level up. I bought mine years and years ago and I get really weird looks whenever I am wearing them, but I do remember seeing some models that looked like shoes and not like socks (like mine do), so I am definitely going to take another look. Thank you for your comment 🥰
Hi! So glad to hear you are doing well. I watched your other video and just wondering what kind of bunion surgery you had? I am looking into Lapiplasty for my left foot, which looks similar to the thing you got in your big toe. There are many different types of bunion surgery apparently!
To be honest, I was in a really strange place mentally after the surgery, so I actually didn't manage to go to physical therapy because I really panicked about it for some reason. However I feel like I got really lucky because every doctor said the flexibility in my toes is great so fortunately it didn't do me any harm. But in hindsight I would not recommend skipping physical therapy because I feel like my healing process would have been sped up so much if I had done the therapy. For my next foot I will definitely not skip it!
I had my surgery about 5 months ago and it's the best decision I've ever made but it has it's down falls. I have screws and that's what's bothering me I thinking about taking them out. My only advice is exercise and do physical therapy
I'm having bunion on both foot, I'm 21...and my doctor said its better to do after some more time cuz my bones need to mature some more. He said about putting screws or k wire...but i forgot to ask whether i can remove it later....so since you got the surgery done, did u get your screws removed and does it pain while walking with the screws in.
They put screws, a wire and a metal plate into my foot when I had my surgery done and I didn‘t feel like they hurt. The metal plate however added bulk to my foot and when I was wearing shoes after a while it hurt because of the pressure that the shoe inflicted on the area with the metal plate. I got my metal plate and the screws that fixated it in place removed two months ago and I am really happy about it. My foot is still a little bit sensitive in the area where the metal plate was but I feel like it’s getting better with every week that passes. My doctor told me not everyone gets the metal and screws removed but for me it was the right thing to do. I hope that was of any help to you and I am wishing you good luck on your journey!
Thank you for your honesty and genuine portrayal of what you went through and where you are now. And yes! We need to be kind to ourselves! Allow ourselves to experience and the time to process these surgical journeys. I had both bunions done about 25 years ago and was fortunate enough to have great help. I’m am currently recovering from a fusion of my big toe and the bunionette removed from my left foot about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I will be getting the stitches removed on Wednesday but will be non weight bearing for six weeks or more. Being patient with myself is a mental battle but I’m trying to get there. I’m dreading doing my right foot because there are three bony places that will need revisions. But I’ll get there. My sincere good wishes to you and I hope your next surgery goes so much easier. You now have the knowledge you need to successfully navigate that part of your life. Good luck. 😊
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your own story. I sincerely hope your healing journey is going as well as can be. I just had my metal plate removed, which I was so incredibly scared for after the first surgery but I am so glad I found the courage to do so. Really happy with the outcome so far. I am truly wishing you all the best. Thank you again for your kind comment!
Thank you Elina for both of your videos about your surgery. Very useful. Could you let us know when you started to walk again with regular shoes and when you could start working out again. Thank you very much!!
Hi, I am glad the videos were helpful to you. I started wearing my normal shoes about 8 weeks after the surgery. I started exercising after 3 months, but really moderate exercise that didn't target my foot too much. It took me probably a year until exercises like lunges felt normal again and things like jumping did also take half a year until I felt comfortable doing them but a lot of other exercises where fine. But as far as I know, everyone heals differently and I have had some comments from people who said they where back to normal much earlier than I was. I hope this was of any help to you. Wishing you all the best!
@@ElinaFriday thank you so much for coming back to me! I felt sorry to see you had not had the best support with your GP. But in order to give you hope for the other foot, my 1st surgery has been going well so far and has been only slightly painful. So it can happen. Also it looks like new techniques have started to be used which may help to recover quicker. Thanks again for providing such valuable information Elina.
I should have gone to physical therapy but I was in a strange place mentally. I was really scared to go so I didn't even make it to my first appointment. It was fine in the end but I wouldn't do it again, because I feel like it took me a lot longer to regain the flexibility in my toes. The doctors say I am fine now but I feel like I simply got lucky. So I wouldn't recommend doing it my way and I will definitely go get physical therapy after my second foot got surgery.
Well,. honestly it is hard to think of doing physical therapy (we all know it hurts a little) when you are in agony from a surgery (been there done it too many times) especially a painful surgery like this.
The first few days where really quite bad, I am not gonna lie but it did get better after a week. I also hated that I had to have injections everyday up to 6 weeks post surgery (to avoid thrombosis). Mentally it was also quite a challenge. And finally it did take a lot longer to regain my full flexibility and strength, which took me by surprise. Seeing as this all sounds pretty negative it will probably surprise you when I say I would do it all over and I am glad I had the surgery. The prospect of having a few weeks of pain compared to having a life full of pain if I hadn't done the surgery is still (for me personally) a better option. But it is a very personal decision to make and everyone is different so please don't take this as advice. It really is my own story based on my past experiences. :)
Hi, maybe check out the video I did before this one. I did show a before and after in the previous one. Just go to most viewed videos on my channel and it should come right up :)
