Quartz movements are alright with any Tank, because there's no Seconds hand to give it away, and in an all stainless steel case it's far more tasteful than gold-dipped, gold-filled whatever cases. However; I did like their older more script style logo than the sterile, "modern" block letter version they use now. The SEIKO Tank is a wonderful alternative and also well executed.
Glad to hear I am not the only one finding the default straps to be a let down, both in look and wearing comfort. Much better combo with a contrasting strap colour too!
Great review! Just got a Tank Must with the roman numeral dial. I was originally looking for the Solarbeat (which is amazing) but settled for the standard High Autonomy Quartz since it still lasts 8 yrs. Enjoy!
Regarding the caseback, I don't think the screwdown back is necessarily cost cutting. The alternative pressfit backs looks great to start, but after a few battery changes they can get pretty marred by inexperienced "watchmakers" prying them off with a knife to change the battery. I prefer a screwdown back as long as the screws are recessed (cough... Casio...).
Great video. I bend the strap near the lugs a little bit and then again half way in order to make it look like an oval shape once you put it on, then sleep with it and repeat for a few days. I’ve got three of these and it works like a charm every time, mind you I’m very gentle when bending it. I hope this helps, Good luck.
First time watching your channel. Would love to see you grow in the future, so will be subbing. Brilliant review - I'm viewing a Must in a few weeks. I have a Santos de Cartier as my only timepiece made by Cartier, but I've always loved my Santos. I wore it only on a few occasions. I found that the polished metal face of the case would get pretty scratched, even with minimal wear. I assume from the video that the Must also gets easily scratched?
I have a 90s Cartier Must gold plated Ivory dial. It's my wedding watch and I absolutely love it. I have quite a few strap options so I can dress it up and down. It's very versatile.
Hello Aleks, thanks for the content. I did not like tthis release until you showed it with a black band. It is just so beautiful how you have presented it, the band gives some gap with the watch and it looks better. The red band from Cartier is indeed too thick for the watch. i will like to know how it looks on glossy lizard. Another video will be great
Had a similar experience with 5 months of the solarbeat tank. Weirdly it’s the perfect daily beater! I don’t even think about scratches (maybe because I already know it’s never being sold.)
The caseback on this watch is one difference between the Must and LC models. The LC models have casebacks that are secured from the sides. Clearly the latter is more complex and costly to produce. For Sub-$3000, I would have no beef with the Must caseback.
Interesting to hear your review. What I like about this one compared to the Tank Solo is that the size and shape are the same as the Tank Louis. The new Tank Must has a hefty price tag (£2660 as of Feb 2023). I think this is really down to the icon status. If one wanted a different Cartier model plus an automatic movement, the the Santos Galbée or Tank Française can be good options on the secondary market (for around this price, although I think prices are going up now).
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Bjoern! I agree, since the list price is up quite a bit since the re-launch of the Must there are for sure alternatives out there that ”makes more sense” at the moment
You know I'm still fighting the 25,5mm case. Not that I find it in itself too big on the wrist, nor I'm nerdy about "how the traditional Cartier should be" but my critique is aesthetically: The problem with the 25,5mm case is that the watch comes with a lug width of 19mm and that's my problem. This is too much "leather" surface on my wrist when wearing a Tank. The strap is just too thick, IMO It makes it look a little bit obscene.
For the case back I believe it was made that way for easy access should it needed to be serviced or battery replacement and such… And yes their factory leather strap is really stiff, like it doesn’t bend well and needs so much time to be broken in
Hi Aleks, this watch caught my attention when you were reviewing Rolex GMT in IFL watch video. Really love the combination of the burgundy red with the strap. Would be grateful if you would share where to get those straps? Thanks!!
What are your thoughts on this model not having any hour and minute markers? I’m very tempted to get the black Must, but as minimal as it is, it can be difficult to tell the time. I’m coming from the blue Reverso Tribute Duoface and what I enjoy about it is the shiny hour markers in angles. You can also see the markers shine in dim lighting. I’m still debating on whether to get either the sleek looking black Tank or the standard Must silver dial.
To be completely honest I don’t set my watches exactly. Usually 1-2 minutes ahead.. so not really an issue for me Both nice options so basically a matter of preference dark/light dial. Silver more classic Cartier
@@Kbo513 I had the Duo face too. With blue/dial. Regret selling it though. Seems we have same taste in watches 😬. Wear your Tank in good health. It’s really elegant and sophisticated. Less is really more !
just bought it! I LOVE IT do you think it will go up in value? btw i don't mind selling it i want to keep it... it really is a fantastic piece. Any suggestion for where to buy another strap like the one in the video? thanks
You just have to break it in like a baseball glove - I had my strap feeling like butter after 10 minutes on each strap - bend if, fold it, rub it, twist it basically beat the strap up for a min and it’s good to go
I know it is weird but i have to say :) This watch is perfect without crown. I know it is cartiers sign but if you can change it more masculene crown.... May be with change new model tank crown... But smallest one. It will become more daily and modern watch with vintage soul... Thats my fcking idea. I dont know firm what you say about my needs :)
Thanks for the feedback! What kind of ads ruined it for you? I’m kinda new to this and when I turned on ads I never went back to the old videos to see what kind of ads they would show.
people moaning about Rolex prices. for what I must to pay 3k for this cartier? this watch should cost max $500 simplem polished case with no water resistent, battery inside, leather strap. what else? aaaa NAME and history :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
