thanks for sharing, I have a 2015 rex and I love it so much. The i3 is still a head turning, I get so many questions about what kind of car is that (lol) the REX for me was a must, I don't do long distance driving but sometimes I need to see clients in the burb's and the REX is perfect, I can get about 160 miles of range depending on weather, driving conditions etc... The con's i have for this car are few, one being the weight on the expressway you can sometimes feel like a "ragdoll" being thrown around. My pro's are to long to list (lol) I'm sad BMW has stop producing this car, it was way ahead of it's time, and for us lucky few that has one, this car will go down as a collectible, I plan on keeping mine forever. Again that's for sharing and I hope you make a 2 year review.
I am a BMW M fanboy and I have 2008 BMW manual M3 and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to buy my 2016 i3 Rex when it came up for sale. I lOVE this car I drive it more than my M3 shhh don’t tell. Drive a 30 mile round trip to work and if I want to take the highway home I just switch the Rex on. Tank costs under $20 to fill and I don’t even do it that often. The best part is the 12v charger plug it in when you get home and forget about it one sleep later it’s ready to work again. Such great little cars.
I bought a 2014 Rex in Denver Co and drove it back to Minneapolis, MN. I was amazed how comfortable it was on road trips. Definitely a better in town car, but you can road trip it if you use a little gas now and then. Overall, if you are looking for a good run about, it's perfect. I drove 600 miles last month and charging cost me about $12.
@@lzparent1 With snow tires it does great. Range drops to 40 to 55 miles depending on how cold it is. Preconditioning the car and battery on cold days helps a lot. With more level 2 chargers popping up at grocery stores and malls, it’s really not a problem to be in all electric mode. The Rex engine is there to back you up. Last year I drove 6000 miles and only used 5 gallons of gas. I hope that helps!

Nice video :) i have a 120amp 42 kwh. In summer i can take trips over 200miles on a single charge...love my i3 its always looks frech and fun to drive.😊
We have a 2016 REX model for daily commute. We love it. Quick, large inside, small outside. We dont really need the REX, but its good to have - just in case…
Terri and I have already been thinking about a used “grocery getter”. Darbin Orvar as been doing great videos of her recent purchase of a used Leaf. I think the preowned i3 or the Leaf may compliment the “Y” nicely.
Really considering one of these babies for my short commute to work. The only thing I'm not sold one is tire replacement cost. How long did your tires last and how much was the cost of the new set? Appreciate any info you can give me! Take care👍
The tires that were on it when we got it were in rough shape. Maybe original to the car. We had them about a year before replacing. The set was about $1.2k. Ugh. They make a huge difference though. Thanks for watching!
Michelin has has new Cross climate tires this year. I expect them to hold much longer compared to the Bridgestone tires. profile is better and usable in snow conditions! R19 only.
Did you buy this certified pre-owned? The only 2014/2015s I have been able to find for sale are from small dealerships and I’m a little hesitant to trust the condition of the car from those. They are all selling for under $10k so it’s really tempting.
Thanks. Production has now (end of June 2022, my farewell video BMW i3 Farewell ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6Y7IcNA_RY4.html) unfortunately ended. Besides the expensive fact of a broken Rex-mount, my 2014 Rex is doing well. The car looks and feels still futuristic but the non existing 4G-support is becoming more and more of a problem.
