Curious about the different battery capacities, options, packages, and features of the i3 through its 2014-2021 model year run? I cover everything including charging, range, interior options, and even the range extender and i3s models. Then at the end I provide a recommendation on what I think are the absolute best model years and what options to look for and what you can skip over when buying your own used i3.

nice to see that some people are still happy with this amazing car! There is one more interesting option: Adaptive led lights, and an optional heat pump. (at least in Europe). It's a very much under valued EV, with an amazing low battery degradation.

I’m fascinated by it! Here in the U.S., the LEDs are adaptive beginning I believe with the 2019 MY and only automatically level due to our archaic laws at the time. All full BEV i3 models in the U.S. have a heat pump as standard equipment.

If you want to save time and hassle, get the Rex....this even extends the life of the battery.

Recommendation of a rex in a time when the combuster technology passes away? Curios. 2nd and more important: The rex only charges the battery. This has no physical/chemical advantage for the battery. It's more reciprocal. The battery is more often charged because of the rex, even while driving. That shortens the life of the battery. Take the 120Ah battery and you will be fine for 95% of your trips.

@@Eishocker for me the rex is there so i never fast charge i never use public chargers i only charge at home which is of course good for the battery my battery has lost no capacity in it's 6 years and even if it did, the rex is there, so to sum up with rex i have a ev with no downside i never needed it , no hassle for me no planning journeys no waiting for it to charge if i want to drive anywhere in the uk i can.....without a plan...

@@whocares264 Sorry, there is no hassle with 120Ah. In Germany, where i am resident, i travel 200km even on the highway. After 200km I need a pause and pee and buy a coffee where I charge if needed. At home I charge from my photovoltaic system. The BMW i3s 120Ah is the best and most reliable small car I have ever owned. And moreover I "kill" every BMW M3 starting from traffic lights.

Very shallow review..no interior points, space or comfort statistiques..highs and lows..
