1 YEAR UPDATE Andis Cordless Outliner Barber Review Broken Motor Problem 

Now that some time has passed we can see other barbers are also having the same problem.

I just fixed mine . I opened it up, removed the motor and opened it up wash inside the motor with dish soap and after everything was clean i spray it with alcohol and allowed everything to dry. Please note that you have to dismount the motor completely to wash and clean this properly. Idk how long it will last but its working now

Slimline pro li still the best cordless trimmers I ever owned. I owned mine for 3 years now only had blade problems and I’ve dropped them like 50 times or more they turned into corded trimmers though from constant dropping.

It’s the metal connectors on the switch. It seems in time they start to flatten out all you have to do is lift those connectors up a little

Mine are doing the same thing and my andis masters cordless are doing it also. Still have warranty but this covid is ruining my last month of the warranty

If u remember I posted about your Magic clips I suggested that the problem may be the electrical current from the socket but YOU ARE RIGHT!! now my Magic clips are having the same exact problem!!!! I was gonna get another pair but I remembered u having this issue Dam and I love the Magic clips too

I'm having the SAME problem!! Not happy with Andis. I only use them to shave in the morning. I may try some of the fixes mentioned, and I'm looking for a non-Andis replacement.

You cut the machine. When water , any liquids get into the machine after a time the motor will become saturated... Simple... Hang your machines down. Don't charge them while you just finished clean the blades... Take care of your tools and also stop dropping them on the station that will disconnect some part in the machine...

This happened to me! I found out that if I left the trimmer on then put on the charger or about 30min and it never glitch, I get half way through a trim and it started again! Andis has been dropping the ball the last couple a years very disappointing, and the cordless masters specs are lackluster. I guess mine will be a sitting brick 😩

That's EXACTLY what's happening with mine too! Luckily I still have the receipt and I purchased them in October 😒 back to Andis they go! 😡🤬

Mine are having the same issues. You can get the internal assembly for under $60.

I haven’t even had mine a year and this has happened. I emailed them so they said I need to send it back but with receipt and that’s my problem I lost it so now I’m stuck with only 3 months it lasted and I was in love with it sigh😢

The Chinese are actually making better clippers and trimmers now. Chjpro, Chinese wahl detailers, they also have a fake magic clip with 3hrs battery life compared to Wahl's 90min runtime. And they both cost less than $20. All some barbers wanna do is stick to their well loved brands in the cordless game but they end up being trash costing them huge amounts of money. I'm always willing to try new stuff and it pays off. At least if these die after a year of use, it only costs me $20. But for now, they run strong. Love them.

I know the problem, I'm car electrician but I know about electronics stuffs,so my brother I have the same problem and the problem was a 2 little capacitors inside de motor, they heating and make a short cut, because that the motor and Andis illumination stop to work. You probably solve it just cutting off the 2 capacitors inside the motor.

Have you had any charging issues?? I think I need to either replace the lithium battery, the charger cord, or the charger base... but it wont hold a charge anymore after 22 months. #SUGGESTIONS??

I think you got a bad one . Same thing happened to me fortunately I had one week left on my warranty . They told me to send them in they gave me a brand new one I thought they’d just fix it . I’d try to contact them then again you cut it so they not going to replace it .

It's not the motor. It's the switch. There's a metal contact under the switch that, over time, either either breaks off or just bends away from the the on/off contact. Opening it up and bending the contacts back or replacing the contact plate will solve the issue

I'm having the same problem with the motor sputtering. About 6/7 months old.

Try this. My andis was shivering like this until it completely stopped and just the light was blinking, I then took off the blade , pressed down on the cylinder Piece that spins, turned it on and it started working again. Press down firmly. I think something disengages and has to touch again. Give it a try.

Mine did the same thing pretty much from day one. I bought mine about 6 years ago when they first came out. I think I payed close to $300 bucks since I didn't want to wait for them to go down in price. I used them a few times and put them under my station cause I bought a few more trimmers and totally forgot about the Andis. Lol. I dug em out again after about a year. First couple of cuts they worked fine. I did a total of around about 10 cuts. Next thing I know they were cutting out when I would move them..Since then I ve been retired for about 2 years. So actually they are about 8 or 9 years old, BUT NEVER REALLY USED!! I DUG them out the other day to give to my daughter. Still cutting out with movement. Like I said pretty much from day one!! It's still annoying using them and they cut off go on. Cut off go on...I'm going to change the switch inside see if that helps. I just wish I knew they did that when I first bought them!! Hey bro so with the motor on mine all you have to do is either losen or tighten the back screw and that seems to do the trick for me idk about you guys.

2 trimmer did the same at my shop only last a year. Awesome when it was working though. The worst tool I bought

Its the switch brother the problem you can take it out and stretch the two prongs on the switch so it can make direct contact with the copper metal that should do it

My cordless t outliners came with loose blade. They sent me a different one but it came with the blade loose too. Did you have this issue out the box?

After a year let's see how them calibers are doing....But it just might be you're trimmer in particular.My trimmer still going strong like the day I bought it and I've had mine 11 months almost a year in 9 days...

Appears to be an issue with a connection to the battery - maybe a loose connection similar to loose battery clamps on your car’s battery.

What’s confusing is how did the motor broke? Was it in half? Did u take it out and it fall. Cause that material cannot break so easy

It's not the motor. It's the switch. There is this little brittle part that breaks off over time. They don't sell that little disk individually but I think you find the entire switch somewhere. Check Ebay.

Mine charge, run perfectly... my problem is that even after I turn the trimmers off, the Blue LED STAYS ON... about 3 hours later they are completely drained!!! I have to charge them before I use them !!! 150.00 WASTED!!!

Same problem I had. Happened after 2 months new and returned for a replacment, then the second pair ran for about 2.5 years then did the same thing. Also the battery is still strong and everything still looks new after 2.5 years.. Just starts shuttering and shuts off randomly

So When I started using this trimmer after about a year and change, This same problem started happening to me. I ended up getting a second one thinking that it was my fault that the first one went bad, but guess what, the same problem all over again I experience with this machine, so never again would I buy another or recommend anyone to.

Bull shit I have had mine for years and no problems I dropped them several times still good as the first day I got them a lil loud from dropping them on the hard floor but still cuts wonderful stop hateing on Andis this is the best cordless I have owned and I cut lots of hair.
