I had the same issue with my windows squeaking. Unscrew door panel Do complete take it off and first spray window regulator with WD40. You will must properly find it has rusted. Then rock the window up and down. Keep lubricant until it stop. Then once it stops using a silicon lubricant on a regular bases on the upper rubber window seals. No more squeaking for me
@@TheGarageUSA yeah it would annoy me. I've always wanted a soft top beetle but had reservations because a) I live in London and it's cold and rainy and lot and 2) if a mechanism in the top breaks I'm sure it's pretty much undrivable until fixed. But then you showing the broken material showed more issues. I love your one but might get the hard top version :) the cost of repairs you did also made me weep Haha. Good job through. Looks stunning
Also to change the digital temperature from °F to °C is you have the car on. Once its on hold down both buttons for the hour and minutes, for a few seconds.
I have exactly the same problems with mine from the headlight,to the side door material coming off, the window makes a noise, my rear windscreen needs to be glued back.
I have the exact same flapping top issue on my 06 Beetle convertible 😂 I tried to fix it but when I did it got in the way of the top opening all the way. My top is manual and you have to push it down to click in place or else the alarm goes off. It’s really annoying and unsafe. So I let it flap and click the top in place and let it do it’s thing 🤷♀️
I know this is older but I’ve owned a 2001 BMW 330Ci and M3, both soft top cabrio’s…I had the same squeaky window seal issue and got a bottle of Gummi Pflege Stift and treat all the rubber the window contacts…then, silence 👌🏼 also how many miles were on the car when you did all that work?
so there is a view on how to fix that door panel ive looked at it could helped as far as the window has to be the window regulator Ive had issues with that and the convertible part have to see a convertible installer good luck with everything
Service, you didnt say if all of that work was done at the Volkswagen Dealer, service dept. Generally, the factory service department knows more and fixes things you might not ever be aware of... RECALLS, service advisory's and that quirky headlight wiring issue. They probably have a fix for that, and would do it for nothing on your next oil change service there. Jiffy lube, or Joe Blow auto repair, sees one of these once a year MAYBE... VW Service knows EXACTLY what to look for. IF it hasn't been to VW service department, Id take it there, check recalls, service advisories, and ask them to fix that headlight wiring problem, Bet they do it for nothing.
I have the same issue with my door panels. Have not found a solution to the peeling away of the vinyl on the door panels 😢. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm in Northern Illinois.
Hello! I found a Beetle exactly like this (2007 convertible in the exact same colour) that I’m looking into buying. What mileage did the car have when you purchased it? And do you know if the repairs you had done to yours are all common things that go wrong with these Beetles?
We just bought a 2007 New Beetle convertible, red with a white top. My dream car at 74 years old! Question for anyone....When the top is open, we get a shrill sound, a warning maybe, that stops after moving for about 30 seconds. Every time we stop and start moving again, the same thing happens. Any ideas?
Same thing happens to mine. I also own at 2007 Bettle. I always have to bring down the roof manually because I couldn't find the button that supposedly brings down the roof automatically 😒😪
Amazing video!!!! This is my dream car!!! Since this is going to be first car should buy a Volkswagen Beetle from the 2000’s or a new year Volkswagen Beetle?
Yes, in the trunk there is a release valve that will allow the hydraulic fluid to flow through the pump allowing you to open and close the top manually.
Unless I missed it.... you never mentioned the mileage on either vehicle. These vehicles are only good for 150k then they are shot. Your Echo is the more reliable vehicle. VW's 5 cylinder engine: Power of a 4 cylinder and efficiency of a 6 cylinder. The air pump for braking is a joke. There are kits to eliminate the air pump and use the vacuum of the GAS engine... like EVERY other car in the World. Good luck!
I will be honest for what you invested in that car you could have bought a newer one without the need of repairs. Very bad investment. I bought a Mercedes Benz SLK 350 2005 Convertible for around 5k and spent another $1,500 in upgrades. It needs shocks and that may cost $1,000 more but will still be less than what you spent on A VW Bettle which is a poor man Porsche.. You much have went to the dealer with those high prices for repairs. You could have found an authorized shop and paid half of what you paid for simple repairs. You can use some tile glue floor tiles ahastive from Home Depot. It wont be coming off anymore but you will have to duck tape it to keep it flat and maybe use a hair drier or irion on low settings to get out the winkles of the vinal panel.
