aw what an adorable car! I've always loved volkswagen beetles ever since I was 5.years old... definitely think I should save up money and have this car as my first car.
I just graduated highschool but still cant drive due to my severe driving anxiety. I'd say a good portion of that anxiety comes from the fact that I'm 4'11, and dont feel comfortable being in charge of such a big machine such as a vehicle, and thats why I want a beetle! They're so small and cute and they're one of the only cars that dont make me feel so small when I'm next to them. I just wish I could buy one, and THEN practice driving in it so I would be more comfortable, but that doesnt sound very practical lol EDIT: I HAVE ONE! I ACTUALLY BOUGHT MYSELF A BEETLE, GUYS! 🩷🥳🎉 I'm also doing exactly what I said, and practicing after already having a car lol
@@bunbunsaudios1270 I actually considered one of those! Beetles, Fiat 500s, and mini coopers are my fav cars lol, they're very cute, I just love coupe cars so much lol
i just bought an 00 beetle. already love it. i got mine super cheap so there are a few things to fix and some minor maintenance to do but its in great shape overall. such a cool little car
My first Beetle was a '99, then an '07, an "08 that was totaled by a stop sign runner, and now I have 2013.....so I probably have a problem too! I don't care, I love this car!
I just bought a 2005 GLS 5sp. convertible today. I looked at several reviews here before I bought mine and for some reason did not find yours until now. This is the best review by far in depth and leaves no questions thanks. I have seen a lot of comments about this car being a "chicks car" my first car I bought was a Volkswagen Beetle back in the 60's and I paid 50.00 for it did not look that great but it took me anywhere and everywhere I wanted to go. How this auto ever got the reputation of being a girls car is beyond me.
My wife and I always liked these cars. She owns a blue beetle convertible while I own a 57 4 door bel air sedan and a 1964 vw bus. All these cars are very reliable to me and my wife.
My sister had a 2006 Beetle, I think it was really a unique car, the problem is it had its share of problems, including electrical and water pump issues.
I wish he had showed how the car runs on sport mode, I have a 2008 and he is right when he says you fall in love with the car, it’s just fun to drive. I bought it used with 184,000 miles on it and the only problem I’m having is a evap situation and I’m having that checked soon.
8:19 I have a black 2003 New Beetle GLS. I disconnected that little molding peace with the vase in it, took the vase out, filled the hole with "Quick Steel" two part epoxy putty, sanded it down flat and smooth, and painted it with Duplicolor semi gloss black paint. It came out perfect. No flowers in THIS man's Beetle! The Beetles from 1998 to 2005 are very under appreciated. With 2006 to 2010, they trimmed the sides of the fenders and added the 2.5 liter engine. I would like to have the 2.5, but I don't want to give up my fully rounded fenders, like the classic Beetle had. The trimmed fenders, just takes something away. I would have liked to have the license plate on the bottom of my bumper, like they did in the 2006. My tag is positioned at the top of the bumper, and a section is cut out to fit the tag. I didn't like the New Beetle when it first came out, as I was a Beetle purest. The engine had to be in the back. But about a year ago, I started to appreciate them, when I went for a test drive and tested the Monsoon stereo. No amps or subwoofers needed. The system was better than any factory system I have ever heard. My Beetle is a 2.0, and is very quick. The only complaint I have is the high RPMs when on the highway. In fifth gear at 80 MPH, the engine is at 4,000 RPMs. That's probably why they came out with the six speed. The rims are sixteen inch. I am going to be getting 18 inch rims, and bigger tires, to bring down the gear ratio and in turn, the RPMs. I can take awesome corners. The suspension is tight and smooth. It's very quiet in the cabin. The engine has a very sporty tough aggressive sound when hitting the gas hard. So far, it's the best car I've had. I miss my 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon GL, but the Beetle makes it easy to go on living, and surprisingly enough, I can fit all of my DJ equipment in it.
its probably too late, but youd be surprised what parts you can swap from each generation of bug from mk3(1998-2000), mk4(2001-2005), and mk5(2006-2010) Mk3-5 share the same platform(the vw mk4 platform). I actually made a custom hood for my mk5 '08 using a junkyard hood from a mk4 '02 I plan on installing a hatch from a mk4 with the hidden spoiler disclaimer: the generations of the bug are highly ambiguous and not everybody agrees with the way I see it. Personally, I see the original bug as mk1 (from the late 1930s manufactured to 2003) the super beetle as mk2 (featuring a flat spare, 2 extra inches in length, strut suspension, and a bigger engine) the mk3 being the new beetle from 1998 to 2000 (the original new bug) the mk4 being 2001-2005 (the original new beetle with new, full sized mirrors, lights in the sides just ahead of the doors, and many more trims, engines, and options) the mk5 being 2006-2010 (featuring different fenders, bumpers, and the 5 cylinder engine) and the mk6 being the last generation of the beetle as of 2022 utilizing volkswagens A5 platform. The use of the a5 platform causes confusion as some people call that the mk5 beetle. Some people call the 05-10 beetle the mk4 facelift. People are entitled to their own way of seeing things. Please do not fight over it, just enjoy your bugs :)
I have a 2006 convertible beetle haven't had any major problems over the past 7 years. I also have a 2008 triple white and no problems with that one either. In also had a 2001 bug and it was a death trap. It eventually caught on fire while I was driving it.( hot wire caused fire)
Funny audio balance around 13:30 when the reviewer mentions the quiet interior (which it is). Yet I can barely hear his comments making his praises all moot. At 13:50, I really do feel the car's ride. That's common for a Sensory Perception Video (SPV) like this! This amateur, historical review makes for a brilliant sales pitch. For those who are from another planet and never knew there was a New Beetle, it's more amusing than reading the manual.
2004 vw jetta TDI i love the car the interior is used but great stll but the only complaint is that my 4 speed automatic transmission now is having problems shifting :C probably gonna get a beetle now to replace my fav car.
1. I love this review. You went into great detail and it felt like I was in the car with you. Amazing job. 2. What's the song for the intro? It sounds so catchy and it's perfect for a video like this!
Thank you for the kind words! Sorry for the late reply, though. As far as the name of the song, I have no earthly idea. It was a pre-loaded song on my MacBook Pro with iMovie.
RCGCarReviews Thank you for replying nonetheless! You're very welcome! I love your videos (this one in particular because I am STRONGLY considering buying one of these), you just put so much thought and detail into them! Well, at least knowing it was in iMovie gets me closer to knowing! Lol! Thank you for replying!
Probably a crazy question, but how do you think taller people look in this smaller, cute car. Im almost 5 9 and i have long arms and legs, but im petite. I just dont want to look strange in it, because im in the process of possibly buying a used one from someone and haven't been able to test one out yet. I see you said ur 5 10 or 11....You seem comfortable and dont look awkward in it. But from ur own personal opinion, how did you physically feel and look with and in a smaller car, being pretty tall?
@ !4:10 it got pretty loud. ...really could not hear what you were saying over the noise...but I really liked the quality solid sound when you closed the fuel door.
My parents purchased a 2001 Beetle, that doesn't have the plastic engine cover on it (that tells the size of the motor). So, how can they find out which motor they have?
This is my dream car!!! Is this a good reliable and save car? Is this a good first car to buy since this will be my first time buying a car? How does it drive in the freeway?
Excellent video, I just bought my 2nd Bug, 2006 Sunflower Yellow, we wear flowers in our hair too, owned a Bus years ago too, they can bury me in my Bug!!! Tysm,
Art King I’ve never fit a bike in mine, but I’ve fit a lawnmower, weed eater, and 5 gallon gas can in the trunk of my 99’ at one time. I’ve also camped in there with a friend once, we were both over 6’ also
I have a kind of a weird question, I'm 4'7" and 15 I'm leaning how to drive soon is the Beetle an ok car for a short person? My boyfriend is also telling me he won't fit in it because he's 6'
I'm 4'9" and in my opinion, it is a fantastic car for a short person. The dash is huge, but lowered so you don't have to lift yourself up to see the road. If you need an extra boost, just purchase a wedge cushion.
+Robyn Swaim Haha. All three of the Volkswagens I've had were made in the Puebla, Mexico factory. I'm considering purchasing a Phaeton as a second car just because I've always liked them....and that one is made in Dresden, Germany, at the flagship Transparent Glass factory and shares much of its electronics architecture, powertrain and structure with the Bentley Continental and Flying Spur. So far I've had: a 1997 Jetta GLX VR6 a 2014 Jetta SportWagen TDI w/ DSG and Sunroof a 2015 Golf SportWagen TDI SEL w/ DSG and Lighting Package
Do you hope to do a bread new Volkswagen Beetle one day those are nice my sister has the new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle 2.5 and Jake it,s the same blue that your girl friend sister has on her 2012 Volkswagen Bettle it has over 5,000 miles on and i have a feeling that it would need to go in for service soon Jake do you have any idea that the Bettles have a light or a Messige when it time for it to go for service??
What year did VW changed the Beetle's exterior and started producing and selling, in my opinion, the less attractive actual model? Is it a better vehicle? Anyone? Tia.
The first New Beetle generation was released in 1998, the second generation came out in 2006 and the third and last one came out in 2012. The last New Beetle was released in 2019 from the Mexico's Volkswagen car factory.
8:33 What RU-vid copy right issues do you speak of? That sounds absurd. 19:05 Did you notice the yellow New Beetle pass by when you were waiting at the light? If you did, that would have been a cool thing for you to point out.
If you play music that is copyrighted, then your video will get flagged and most likely removed. And I didn't notice! Guess this was just a Beetle-filled video!
Iran Sarabia not the automatics, they will always fail prematurely. If you get the 1.8t, 1.9TDI, or 2.0 make sure the timing belt has been done (every 60k miles) and make sure they used synthetic oil if it’s a 1.8t. The 06-07 2.5 also had timing chain tensioner issues over 100k miles, in 08 they redesigned the tensioner
Iran Sarabia I agree with the timing belt, but I love my 04. No problems at all. And they last a long time. And it’s like a toy car that you can remove parts and put parts on it by your self.
Actually calling an engine a motor is quite acceptable. all a motor is, is some device that supplies power. and last i checked, a VW 2.5L L5 meets that description. And little fun fact, calling an electric motor an engine is also acceptable because the definition of an engine is something that turns some form of energy into another. in the case of an internal combustion engine, its chemical to rotational, and in the case of an electrical motor, its electricity to rotational. Just had to be that guy
