Very picturesque area. Fall is the time to be here. Close to museums and historic sites. We enjoyed His Majesty's Fort at Crown Point, Fort St. Frederic, and the Champlain Memorial Lighthouse. All within walking distance of the parking area in the Crown Point Fort. We walked the area and it was about 2 miles of walking. We could have spent even more time there had we not pooped out. But it is definitely worth seeing.
There is a Walmart in Fort Ticonderoga about 18 minutes away, easy drive. Shops for other necessities are scattered through the area, so use your MAPS to find anything you need.
The campground is mostly, 90%, seasonal residents. There was only 1 rv occupied within 10 other rvs next to us. Avoid site 81 and 82 unless you are tenting, very steep slopes on grass. Watch the video again to look at sites 83, 84 and 86 if that section is all you can choose. Sites A2 though A6 at the entrance area looked ok, but will require some jockying around to get level.
This is the only time in all of our 6 years of camping I couldn't adjust to and park on a site (81).
