Fun fact: Suicune was my very first shiny. I didnt even realize it at the time. I was 7 or so and when i fought suicune I thought the sparkles meant that it was legendary and that the colors were supposed to be like that. good times.

I'm going to get Crystal _just_ for the celebi hunt. This is the first time it's _ever_ been legitly available as a shiny and I want it. Badly.

I got shiny Celebi, and it took less time than Poipole, go figure. At any rate, I'm ecstatic. It was one of my utmost fastest 1/8192 odds hunts. Took less than 24 hours of hunting. I'm sure you're probably hunting it by now yourself. Good luck with it!

Without even trying, I ran into a shiny drowzee. I have only ever played pokemon blue, and a tiny bit of pokemon heart gold as a small child. I am 20 hours into pokemon crystal and was grinding for whitney and trying to get an Abra. I know how hard shinys are to come by, so my excitement and happiness is immeasurable.

You should totally do this as a series for every game!

6:30 during my original crystal playthrough back when the game first came out I hatched a shiny pichu without trying for it. Back then I didn't even know hatched pokemon could be shiny. Got her to a level 68 pikachu before my game erased itself. :(

I got a shiny Celebi today in 533 resets! I think the reason it came to me so quickly was that I decided I wouldn't keep it for myself, but rather I would give it to my girlfriend. I'm giving it to her as soon as she gets back from work, and I can't wait to see her reaction!

Celebi was also the only reason I purchased Crystal for my 3DS. To be able to shiny hunt it legitimately was like a dream come true. It took me around 8 months (brutal 😬) but totally worth it. The vid of the encounter and capture is on my page 😃

I actually just got the shiny Dratini you can SR for yesterday on my HG version, and at only 27 resets! 🤗 I'm by no means a shiny hunter, but decided to go for it anyways and was so happy with how short of a time it took me. And now I have a pretty pink baby!

I'm currently doing the Odd Egg hunt for a shiny Elekid, but I'll probably settle for a Pichu, I need an electric type. Another hunt I might tackle is the endgame Celebi, I don't know if I'm ambitious enough to tackle any others, I'm a scrub shiny hunter, I'm used to Friend Safari, Dex Nav Chaining, and Masuda Methods as my shiny hunting methods, this whole 1/8k thing fucks me up big time lmao

I'm using a bunch of these! After my starter I did headbutt trees (aipom), odd egg (pichu), and sudowoodo! one that I would add is ODDISH of all things. 50% at night in Ilex forest and bellossom has a unique shiny sprite that I am obsessed with because it uses the vileplume color pallet!

On my first encounter with Celebi, shiny. I didn’t expect that so fast. I wasn’t planning on shiny hunting too. When I transferred it to Bank then HOME, 5 perfect ev’s. I never been joyful while playing Pokémon.

Man, thanks for your videos. They really inspired me to do my first shiny hunt which I started today and got me a shiny Cyndaquil after 77 eggs (breeding with shiny Ditto).

This is a late comment but: While Gen II doesn't have some of the convenient methods introduced in later gens (i.e, shiny chaining, shiny charm, masuda method, etc), the chance of getting a shiny from breeding is actually somewhat high (1/64 odds!) as long as one of the parents is a shiny since the offspring inherits DVs (which is this gen's version of IVs before they were introduced in gen III, they stand for Deter Values) but its recommended to have the shiny parent be male since it allows you to chainbreed them into desired species. The game actually provides an easy shiny breeding partner in the form of the...Lake of Rage shiny red Gyarados. As said above, you should make sure your shiny Gyarados is male. The shiny Gyarados is also in two egg groups: Water 3 and Dragon. This does somewhat widen the possibilities of what shinies you can get through breeding/chain-breeding (however, certain Pokemon like Sudowoodo or Gastly need to be breed with a shiny Ditto or caught shiny) and its not unreasonable to eventually get to the one you want, provided you're able to find Pokemon that exist in gen II that share one of Gyarados' egg groups then going further down until you finally find the final Pokemon to breed the shiny offspring with. I.e, say I wanted a shiny Totodile: the breeding chain order would be Gyarados>Charmander>Totodile. Breed Gyarados with a Charmander/etc then breed the resulting shiny male Charmander with a female Totodile. Any shiny male Pokemon you happen to encounter before/after the Gyarados will also work, especially for adding less work for chain-breeding if you do not have a shiny Ditto. It becomes even easier with a shiny Ditto but it requires you to have two 3DSs to link-trade back and forth between the VC versions of GSC/RBY for a trick to guarantee a shiny Ditto. One 3DS for GSC and one 3DS for RBY. You don't necessarily need to own two 3DSs, a friend's 3DS will also work if they own any of the VC versions of RBY. Trade your Gyarados over to gen I and teach it Mimic via TM31...but make sure all other moves have 0 PP remaining or use Gen II's move deleter in Blackthorn City to get rid of them. In a battle with a wild Ditto, use Mimic to copy Ditto's Transform. Ditto will then copy you and transform itself. Wait another turn (stall via using an item like X Defense, etc...) to let Ditto use Transform one more time. Now capture it! Trade it over to your GSC game and it will be 100% a shiny due to well, Ditto...in gen I, Ditto copies the DVs of the opposing Pokemon if it uses Transform twice in a row. If the DVs of the copied Pokemon are shiny (even if they were traded back to gen I from II, I retains their DVs for shiny-calc), Ditto will be shiny too if caught using this trick.

The one catch also with thr cover legends in Crystal is Ho-oh won't know Sacred Fire and Lugia won't know Hurricane I don't know if when transferred to Sun/Moon/ultras if it can be relearned on them

XD I give on soft resetting for the shiny eevee so instead I breed one with the shiny ditto glitch to hatch a shiny eevee its like 1/64 change of a shiny. Got mine on the 58th egg the longest. Currently hunting for a shiny celebi in crystal 3days still no shiny yet lol funfun

These are definitely my favorite videos produced from the channel. I'd love to see more. I'm fairly new to shiny hunting (or at least full odds hunting) and it's a lot of fun for me to find a target or two from these videos to hunt down.

a little warning to everyone coming from us/um gen 2 shiny hunting is much harder then gen 6-7.....gen 2 shiny hunting is not for the weak

Correction. It doesnt matter if you play GSC you can catch BOTH lugia and ho oh in all those games.

Big tip for the suicune hunt. Find and catch/ko entei and raikou for doing the hunt, that way the cutscene is shorter as you don't have to watch entei and raikou run again! Saves a lot of time in the long run

I'm pretty sure status effects don't work in crystal as well as gold and silver, they're suppose to work but the code or something was messed up

Quick note: in gen2 wild pokémon didn't check pp, so if you are in a really long hunt you don't have to worry about your target struggling.

In just 3 days of hunting, yesterday I got a shiny extreme speed dratini and shiny suicune on crystal VC. Crystal was my first Pokémon game ever so I’ve always wanted a shiny suicune.

I got my shiny Cyndaquil 7 hours after the release haha I was so lucky.

You can catch both Lugia and go-oh in Gold and silver btw. Doesn’t make you choose which box art legendary you find.

I finally caught my shiny celebi a few hours ago!!!!!!

Lots of ppl know about this glitch with ditto and shiny gyarados using the gen 1. But it is not that hard to get a legit Ditto with a "shiny DNA" without glitches, and then open your way to get any shiny version of species that can be bred with ditto, with that TRUE odd of 1/64 per hatch. All you have to do is: catch a ditto with a 10 Defense IV AND a 2 or 10 Special IV and it has the Shiny DNA! This is gonna take a while to explain this method, Srry 😆 To be sure of these IVs: you must catch it with certain stats and level up him AT DAY CARE (preventing it from getting EVs and is also faster. You can also use rare candies if you have) until reach certain levels and checking its stats at those levels. A ditto in order to have a shiny DNA must be caught with a combination of stats DEF/SPC: 16/15 OR 16/16 (at level 10). In order to check the SPC stat of 15, it MUST get +1 at each level, until it reach level 50 (SPC 55 points), unfortunately we can only be sure of its IV being 2 at this point. If at any other level before level 51, the Ditto get a +2 to the SPC stat, it doesnt have the Shiny DNA. In order to check the stat with value of 16 (this check works the same way for both DEF and SPC stats), You only need to check the stat at two levels: at Lv12 it MUST BE 18 and at Lv13 it MUST get a +2, becoming 20. Then if thats true, you got the 10 IV. In short: If u caught a ditto: A) with 16/15 (def/spc) stats; B) got +1 spc till LV50; C) def was 18 at Lv12; and D) def was 20 at Lv13. YAY! You found a Shiny DNA Ditto. If u caught a ditto: A) with 16/16 (def/spc) stats; B) both stats were 18 at Lv12; and C) both stats were 20 at Lv13. YAY! You also found a Shiny DNA Ditto. In terms of practice, that was my experience until now: I got this Ditto with 10 DEF IV and 2 SPC IV in less than 40 attempts (cant remember the exact number). After that, using this Ditto, I bred: 1- a shiny totodile in less than 20 eggs. 2- two shinies chikorita in less than 15 eggs. (When hatched the first one, the second egg with a shiny inside was already created and in team hatching) 3- now Im trying cyndaquil, being hatched about 30 eggs.

I just got through the Pokémon crystal shiny celebi hunt. I am so glad it is over after over 42000 soft resets, being the hardest shiny hunt I have ever done. I am never shiny hunting in generations before the sixth generation ever again after that.

I already got a shiny Elekid from the odd egg on the second attempt, but I reset over it because I wanted Igglybuff :T I wanna play through the game with a shiny since I rarely use regular pokemon anymore and the only reason I bought crystal was to get shiny Celebi, so i wanna play through the game with something I like at least. :P

You can also hunt onix in rock tunnel at a 100% encounter in rock tunnel with a level 16 pokemon and repel.

If you dont want to hunt an odd egg pokemon because you think its easy its not because it takes *11 minutes* to hatch an egg.

I was soft resetting for the Odd Egg (for Elekid or Magby) and the first Pokemon that hatched was a Shiny Cleffa...then a Shiny Igglybuff... it took about 8 more eggs before I got my next shiny, and that shiny was a Magby, so I kept it. :D

I know this was 6 years ago, but I just wanted to say that in gold and silver, you CAN encounter both Lugia and Ho-Oh. In Gold version, Ho-Oh is level 40 and knows Sacred Fire; while Lugia is level 70 and does NOT know Aeroblast. In Silver version, Lugia is level 40 and knows Aeroblast; while Ho-Oh is level 70 and does NOT know Sacred Fire. In order to get the legendary that's not on the box art of your version, you have to first collect all 16 badges and beat Red, then talk to someone in Kanto (I forget who, but I remember they're an old man and I'm 90% sure it was Pallet, Viridian, Pewter, or near/on the boat/train). They will give you the Silver Wing/Rainbow Wing (whichever you don't have).
