@@muhammadsyafiq8882 Its more of an out of universe thing. If you breed a lot of competitive pokemon like I used to a 6IV ditto is by far the most important tool to have around. That said, it doesn't explain why there would be wild dittos near the daycare rather than near every place with a PC.
@@1stCallipostle Any breeder worth their salt wouldn't toss out a 6IV ditto after breeding just their team; there are always friends that want strong pokes with egg moves that may not have the tools (or the patience) to make the pokemon they want themselves. Plus it's not easy to get such a ditto in the first place.
There was once a theory that after Red caught the first Snorlax, Lieutenant Surge used the second one to block the entrance of Diglett’s Cave to prevent Trainers from catching Diglett for his gym battle.
So much trouble. He should learn from Falkner who's angry that people claim birds are easily defeated by clipping their wings with a jolt of lightning: first in Gold/Silver he fools a kid into guarding the road as a "rite of passage" forbidding anyone to pass, then later in Crystal Falkner commits genocide on all the Mareep just to be really sure.
Lance can early-evolve Dragonair and teach Dragonite Barrier/Aerodactyl Rock Slide because he's part of an ancient Dragon using clan. He knows secrets about Dragon pokemon the player doesn't. That's why they have to give you a Dratini with Extremespeed and you can't teach it yourself. They know how to teach Dragons moves that you can't.
If you read the Pokémon adventures manga, it gives reasoning to why red has the three starters as well as why he’s on mount silver in the first place. Yes he did borrow them. Also, in the manga, red’s eevee was a victim of team rocket’s experiment and due to unstable genetics, could go between its stone evolutions at will. That is until it became an espeon while under red’s care, stabilizing it
@@EWOODJ true, but the manga was written to coincide with the games. So plot details it gives, while not explicitly cannon, can fill gaps. Like, in the manga cannon, Blaine was one of the scientists who created mewtwo. Not explicitly stated in the games, but sure makes a lot of sense given what you find in the cinnabar mansion, which is next door to the gym and contains the key to his gym
@@FrenkTheJoy so let me get this straight… on a video about 12 obscure theories, a territory that’s clearly for fun speculation, your first instinct when someone brings up licensed side content is to shut down the conversation? I’m guessing you’re the kind of person who got pissed when matpat started using the FNaF books to supplement his game theories Yes, the games have no mention of green, blastoise can’t be used to fly between cities, no Arboks in game actually get cut in half, geovanni doesn’t actually get a redemption arc until the spiky eared pichu event in HG/SS. But it’s all in good fun to speculate
@@edwardnowakowski5990He is right, though. The canon source for the franchise are the games. Pokémon Origins, the manga... they all take place in an alternative universe.
Shuckle can be obtained besides the one that you are given. It's found in Rock Smash rocks, being a 10% encounter in a obscure method to begin with, so it's okay to think that, just like some people thought Skarmory and Slugma were gen 3.
I'm genuinely surprised people didn't know this. What I thought he meant in the video is that Shuckle was removed from Crystal even though it's still in Gold and Silver.
I remember once hearing that the celebrity was actually legendary Japanese actress Setsuko Hara, who is best known for her role in Ozu’s Tokyo Story. She became a recluse for a long time, and I think there’s something extremely beautiful about suddenly finding her at the end of this journey.
(It’s also worth noting that Satoshi Kon’s Millennium Actress, which is explicitly about Hara’s life and seclusion, was released in Japan around the same time as Gold & Silver)
Just had an idea for a potential answer for the girl that gives you fly/steel wing... What if she's the pro golfer from alola that ends up becoming an elite four member? It would make sense that she'd want to have a getaway that's out of alola so she'd be less likely to get recognized. And given she's strong enough to eventually end up an elite four member, she would surely be strong enough to get the go ahead to make a retreat on Mt silver.
Even cooler, if I remember right, you find out Kahili is a former Alolan champion (in their traditional sense of completing all trials then fighting the other kids of her "class" if you will) and then she says in her intro that she was asked to come home when they opened the League. Considering Kukui is trying to get some world recognition for Alola as an official League, it would make sense to get some celebrity endorsement and Kahili is intrigued because she's strong enough she hasn't faced many real challenges lately. I am liking this theory she's been in Kanto now 😂 (And it fits that even if she's been off the radar, Kukui also says he recently had been in Kanto where he lost the League challenge to Lance but maybe he accidentally found Kahili and invited her in person?)
I recently learned this from another RU-vidr who does similar videos: that unreachable water in the northeast part of Cherrygrove was made reachable in HGSS by changing the layout of Route 30 to allow you to surf down to it. However, because they weren't able to implement having multiple encounter tables of the same type on the same map until Generation VII, the portion of that pond that is in Cherrygrove has ocean encounters to match the ocean on the western part of the map, even though the portion that's on Route 30 has pond encounters.
You can do this in Liquid Crystal. They made a lot of changes to the map in that hack, adding new areas and making things accessible from different places
4:40 Maybe they intended the Cianwood Shuckle to be the only one, but it's not the only Shuckle in the game. While rare, you can catch Shuckle via the Rock Smash rocks as all Rock Smash rocks have a chance of being a Shuckle. Though, since it is rare, it would support the theory of that trainer being a collector of rare Pokemon.
I'm guessing Jasmine's Rock-type team included Onix (later a Steelix), Corsola (found in Olivine's waters), Shuckle (found across the Water routes), and Sudowoodo (found not too far inland). She would have been an interesting parallel to Blaine, another Gym leader whose specialty seemingly clashes with the local ocean's Water types.
Well, in terms of Red borrowing Charizard, in the Adventures Manga, it was actually confirmed to be the case, as Blue Loans Red his Charizard to help him get to a specific area in Mt Silver. The same can somewhat be said for Green when she loans Red her Blastoise.
Bugsy's metapod is the ONLY metapod (maybe cocoon pokemon in general) in the anime to actually fight back. It knocked out Ash's chikorita and put up a fight against pikachu. For that i will forever advocate putting it back in legacy crystal !!!
I always felt like Johto/Gen 2 was simply an EXTENSION of Gen 1, hence why we saw a lot of Gen 1 Pokémon in the gyms because they featured types that weren’t in the Gen 1 gyms. It wasn’t necessarily trying to be a brand new game with brand new Pokémon everywhere. That being said, I DO think ultimately it’s cooler to utilize more Johto Pokémon in the gyms like you’ve been doing in Crystal Legacy, and love the work you’ve been doing with it! 🙌
Well, at the time they started working on GS, they were like "let's cash in on the hype while it lasts." Nobody knew at the time that pokemon would still be popular 25 years after its inception.
Not really, rather early pokemon lore up till around mid-gen 2/start gen 3 was that the pokemon world was like the real world and new pokemon were simply recently discovered. Which is why Jasmine notes Steel types are a recent discovery and while a number of gen 2 pokemon can only be found in Kanto. (and why references to real world animals dropped off after gen 2 and Lt. Surge probably being a Vietnam war vet) Where as somewhere mid-gen 2/start of gen 3 pokemon became the animals of the pokemon world rather than newly discovered creatures. It was trying to be a brand new game with brand new pokemon everywhere, but in such a way it made sense with the, then, existing pokemon lore. Having a new region with a bunch of new pokemon and few old pokemon but that's closely related to the old region wouldn't make sense. For the same reason that a lot of animal species found in Germany are also commonly found in Poland.
Blue's Gen 2 team basically confirms that Red and Blue is more canon than Yellow. Just to add something in the Gen 1 and Gen 2 connection. In Red and Blue, in the house beside the Cerulean Gym, there is a an old couple. The old woman mentiones that her husband loves trading. Her husband wants a Poliwhirl in exchange for his Jynx and it is the only way to obtain Jynx in Gen 1 games. Meanwhile, in Yellow, in the same house, the old couple are removed and was replaced by the girl who gives you a Bulbasaur. However in Gold/Silver/Crystal, still in the same house beside the cerulean city gym, the old couple still lives there and the old woman will still mention that her husband loves trading. The house is also filled with Pokemon the old man got from trades. If the old couple in Red and Blue are still in Gold Silver Crystal. Maybe the girl in Yellow is non-canon. Furthermore, in Red and Blue, at the southern area of Cerulean City, a girl is having trouble because her Slowpoke wont obey her. However, by the time of GSC, the same girl is still there but her Slowbro which obviously evolved from a Slowpoke now obeys her. In Yellow, instead of a Slowpoke, she had an Electrode....well then.... In my opinion, Red and Blue is still more canon than Yellow.
@@smithplayspokemonPikachu in Yellow hates being inside a Pokeball. In GSC, Red's Pikachu is inside a Pokeball. Also dont you find it weird that in Gen 1, no one owns a Pikachu and theres no Pikachu in the wild? Pikachu was never rare in Kanto.
Here's something, Red's Pikachu probably isn't even a Pikachu he caught in Kanto, in GSC it has Charm, which you can only get by evolving a Pichu, this actually is kinda still the case in most other games (Including the remakes) where it has Volt Tackle (Red's Pikachu's moveset in HGSS is a direct reference to what Ash's Pikachu had back when HGSS was released, so I wouldn't 100% count on it :v)
@@FrenkTheJoy People apparently assume that Yellow is canon bc the third versions is the ones that usually get referenced in later games... Except that in Gen 1's case, there's no actual references to Yellow in later games (afaik)
Did You Know Gaming recently delved into the Ditto-Mew theory about a year ago and found that it actually had very little concrete evidence supporting it. Most evidence people gave to back it up was based on loose connections in the games which had more solid evidence supporting there not being a connection. Junichi Matsuda even confirmed in a 2012 interview with GameInformer that there was never meant to be a connection between the two, as that interview was the first time he’d ever heard of such an idea Edit: it’s actually really interesting that the theory is only really prevalent in western countries. It’s fascinating how communities grow far differently in different cultures
Yeah came down to the comments to see if anyone else mentioned. I have to assume that the video author hadn't looked into the theory in a while since the debunk video is more recent.
My headcanon is that every gym leader actually has a full team of strong Pokémon. But because the player is a new trainer, they use weaker Pokémon against you or tell them to go easy on you to make it fair. Like, if you're a kid born in Fuchsia City, Koga or Janine won't use a level 36 Crobat, but a level 10 Zubat or Spinarak for your first badge, and Brock will use a level 36 Golem and 4 other Pokémon.
Re: Cherrygrove's lake - it's actually accessible in Heart Gold / Soul Silver! Just from the north if you surf south onto the lake from Route 30. This part of the Lake is visible on Route 30 but blocked by trees in GSC. They placed a hidden nugget there to reward players like you who were always wondering about this mysterious location in Gen I, much like how searching for the Truck in Vermilion Harbor yields a Lava Cookie in FR/LG, an Iron in G/S/C/HG/SS, and a Revive (replenished daily) in LGP/LGE, as a little reward for player's who had always wondered about this mystery.
I'm not sure if it's the same character but in Diamond and Pearl there's an NPC that is also hiding away due to their fame and they give you Silver wing as a TM if you find their house.
The Sinnoh games takes place practically at the same time as the Johto games (DP intro shows the player watching TV, a report about the red Gyarados rampaging at Lake Of Rage).
Would it be cool to add sprites next to Bugsy of Metapod and Kakuna in the Gym to show he is still doing his research even though they are no longer on his team
On the subject of Reds mount silver team, borrowing the other two starters is exactly how it's done in the manga. At that point in time, red didn't have a flyer on him so he had to use his rivals Charizard and he borrowed a Blastoise from the female trainer because of the healing water that was in the hot springs in mount silver. I am vague with the names of the rifle and the girl because they are swapped between the Japanese and English releases.
@@nicolefecht3299 Correct. And also Green and Blue. In Japan, the male rival is Green (because Red and Green were the first games) and the girl is Blue (the third game). Internationally, the male rival is Blue (because Red and Blue, both based on Japan's third game, were the titles released internationally) and the girl is called Green. It's a big mess that makes a few jokes in the Adventures manga, Origins, and probably other forms of media screwy. So yes, I am well aware of their names. I just didn't want people confused when I referred to them as Green (rival) and Blue (girl).
Red is supposed to be a representation of every player of any Gen 1 game, not just Yellow. That's why it includes all the starters, Pikachu and the event/gift Pokémon of the Kanto storyline. Yellow was just an adaptation of R/G/B to be an anime tie-in, but it was still a Gen 1 game that people played, so Red has a Pikachu too.
As far as I remember, the only trainer to use a Ditto in GSC is Scientist Mitch, in Mahogany Town's Rocket HQ. The only other location where we can find a big Team Rocket presence is Goldenrod City, which links both routes where Ditto can be found. To give this hypothesis a bit more strength, Drowzee - a pkmn native to thise 2 routes - is the only Pkmn that isn't a Poison type & isn't part of the Rattata line used by a Rocket Grunt in the HQ. Maybe it was taken there by the scientists who work for Team Rocket. Besides that, R34 is where the 1st functioning Daycare Centre can be found in Pokémon's history, so some may have fled their breeding prision.
The Jasmine theories I can get behind & Kirk being robbed for his Snease is something I’ve always felt strong about. Also love the Crystal Legacy content. Can’t wait to try it out myself when I have the time & tolls. 🙌🏾
In the manga Jasmine hides that her onix evolved by disguising it as one in its first appearance. Also in that same series, Blue catches all Pokémon he would use in the gym so that he can train another set to not be impossible to beat and to have a reason to train more Pokémon up to the same level as his old team to prove he’s better than Red in a rival friendly way as well as taking on apprentices in a way
The devs were asked about this ditto/failed clone mew theory in an interview and said no, they'd never even heard the idea before. You can find wild Ditto in Hoenn in Emerald, which takes place the same year as the Kanto games, and possibly even before them, so the idea that they're only in the mansion at that point is incorrect. According to Shigeki Morimoto, he singlehandedly designed Mew and secretly squeezed it into the code during the final two weeks of production as an easter egg. It was originally going to be an offhand lore mention without even an official design or power set. Transform was probably added to its movepool only because it fit thematically and they couldn't code more moves in at that point. -Eona_Targaryen
I have always thought it wouldve been a cool feature if pokemon evolved 5 levels early at the lake of rage, up until you turn off the signal at least, but how cool would that be to have your starter randomly evolve at level 31 or whatever?
A few things to clear up here about encounters... - Shuckle can be found by using Rock Smash - Sneasel can be found in the Ice Path in crystal - The guy in Cianwood is more likely a collector than a serious trainer, so he likely purchased those pokemon or had someone find them for him - DItto could also be found east of Fuchsia city in RBY
The thing about Ditto being a failed Mew Clone is actually just a fan theory and isn't actually real. Satoshi Tajiri was asked about Ditto being considered a failed Mew in an interview a long time, and he was genuinely shocked as he had no idea that people thought that is what was going on with Ditto. He had never even heard of that theory/rumor before it was brought up in that interview. And guaranteed that is not where Ditto came from, and that it is entirely it's own unique pokemon. So sadly anything about Mew being related to Ditto is little more than head cannon at best, unless he goes back on that interview at some point and says it really was. Still a fun idea to mess around with though haha
Here’s a theory for ya: Lance got his dragons from team Rocket. - The elite four and some gym leaders were supposed to be evil or linked to team Rocket in gen 1. - People like team Rocket used wild to tame and force pokemon to fight, Lance is also known as the dragon tamer. - Team rocket also sold Dratini via the casino, so it is possible that Lance provided those. (I don’t know about the Safari zone). - And lastly, as a stretch, team rocket experiments with prematurely evolving pokemon. This might give a reason how Lance got early Dragonites. (Wild pokemon can often be caught in the wild with lower levels. It’s my headcanon some trainers may have found some too)
"Blue is just a great trainer and caught many different Pokemon." That is probably the case. I think people theorized that the tops of the "legos" in Blue's gym are actually Pokeballs containing Pokemon.
See, people always cite the "yellow is the canonical geni game" like it's fact, but it's always bugged me; if that were the case, why does Green use Pidgeot, Gyarados, Arcanine, Rhydon instead of ever using Cloyster, Ninetails, Fearow, Sandslash, or any eevee in any game after Yellow? The only real evidence is that Red has all the starters and a high level pikachu, but there's absolutely no reason he couldn't have just caught pikachu and traded the starters. Maybe he has Green's starter. Maybe he traded from any of the numerous trainers in Kanto that have a member of a Kanto starter line. They're rare to the player, but they're clearly *not* overly rare in-universe. Mostly, I suppose, it seems silly to me to suggest the game intended as a recursive anime adaption would be canon over the original games, when GF has gone to lengths elsewise to establish Red as a totally separate character from Ash.
Crazy theory, the fly/steel wing girl is kahili of the eventual alola elite 4. She’s a flying type specialist who uses both skarmory and Crobat in her first appearance, and is said to be a famous professional golfer
Hey there, big fan of your videos of Crystal Legacy. As my 1st mon game it also has a special place in my heart! I love what you have done with the Gym leaders teams and the movepools! Some suggestions are to expand the Pokedex with the evolutions introduced later. I know you buffed certain pokemon since they had awful stats, but their evolutions fix a lot of these issues. For example: Magnezone Sirfetch'd & Overqwil (I know is Galarian and Hisuan, but that was just an excuse of why its evolution was not present before) Tangrowth Electivire Magmortar Leafeon Glaceon (for these 2 guys maybe new Kimono girls) Porygon-Z Munchlax, Bonsly, Mantyke (why not? This is very fitting as it is the gen of baby mons) Togekiss Ambipom Yanmega Honchkrow Mismagius (not that may ghost so makes sense to introduce her) Farigiraf Dudunsparce Weavile Mamoswine Create a baby mon of Skarmory Wyrdeer I know you are looking for ideas on Rematch Elite 4: 1. You could bring back Lorelai. 2. How about you introduce Fairy typing into Elite 4 with a new character passing by region? You could explain that their Normal types are Fairy because of regional variants. 3. I would also like to point out that Elite 4 has never had a Normal, Grass or Electric specialist. Additional suggestions: Ampharos could be made a Dragon type like its mega since there are not many in this gen Unknown should also know Psychic

The anime really did a good job with Bugsy's Metapod in that he trained it during this stage to combine all its moves to make itself a wrecking ball.
Jasmine catches 2 Magnemite and gets a Metal coat, meanwhile I catch over 250 Magnemite in Crystal Legacy and still didn’t catch one until I trained a Furret up with thief.
3:36 This was actually said in leaked documents. The game devs gave trainers fully evolved Pokémon to trainers to give a higher difficulty. A similar thing happened in gen 4
Fun fact: The theory that Red borrowed the two other starters was actually used in Pokemon Adventures, when Red needed to go to Mt. Silver for the healing hot spring to cure his frostbites inflicted by Lorelei during the Elite Four arc. He borrowed Charizard from Blue, and Blastoise from Green.
To be fair, Shuckle can be found in breakable rocks too. But yeah, no one said what the Pokémon was that the rival stole. It probably wasn't a shuckle if the guy had another one.
Good work, I didn't have heard of these before. There's that video about Blue in Red & Blue veing cheater, because he couldn't have caught so many pokémon when you meet him on SS. Anne, but then again, there's Silver with a sneasel only found on the mountain sharing a name with him. Maybe the rivals do trading?
Massively overthinking the Bugsy one. It's canon that gym leaders will use weaker/stronger teams depending on how many badges a trainer has. It's simply a way for Bugsy to have a team that matches the expected strength of an average trainer who has picked up a badge already
Regarding the "Red is from Yellow theory", I kinda think that if he actually was from Yellow version, his name wouldn't have been "Red", it would've been "Yellow". "Red" is the first of the three default names from Red Version (duh), whereas in Yellow Version, is replaced by "Yellow" (again duh). Likewise, the Gen 1 rival gets his official name from the first of the three default rival names in Red Version, which is either Green in the Japanese version, or Blue in the international versions, but in Yellow Version, his default name is just Blue, even in the Japanese version. Also, while Yellow is the only version where you can obtain all three Kanto Starters without trading, Red just could've traded for them. He wouldn't have even needed to specifically obtain then from Blue and/or Professor Oak. He could've just traded with one of the many NPCs who used them in Gen 1. Not like they were rare back then.
From the first series of the game, we had the knowledge that Metadpod and Kakuna could evolve, but Scyther in the first series didn't have evolution, so I think that the dialogue and Bugsy pokemon were meant to show players that any of his pokemon can evolve and that was a hint that somehow it is possible to evolve Scyther (there used to be no bulbapedia etc)
Red lives on Mt Silver in Gen 2, the Celebrity he first met in Gen 1 now lives on Mt Silver in Gen 2. _Perhaps_ they're a couple and living together on Mt Silver?
One of the top videos on RU-vid for me. Greetings from Czech Republic. Jsi borec. Mám moc rád tvoji tvorbu. Zdraví Nogy. Posílám pozdrav z Ústeckého kraje.
hello, so just wondering something i found interesting and didnt make it that far into your hack just yet but was curious. Noticed in the google doc guide that our rival has a lv 48 Tyranitar. so does the line evolve sooner? otherwise im just confused as to why our rival gets access to last stage pseudo before we can. xD lv 55 isnt much further off but i had to ask.
7:18 this is the explanation that the Manga gives. He temporarily trades some of his pokemon for the other starters to help him get to the top of mt. Silver.
Going on the Yellow theory, I like to believe that Blue retired his Champion team when he became a Gym Leader and trained up his Gym team/Red and Blue team from scratch because he needs to be somewhat beatable as a Gym Leader.
The part of the Ditto theory where you mention where it can be found (9:38), Ditto isn't only found in Pokémon Mansion and Cerulean Cave in Yellow. However, in Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue, Ditto can also be found in Routes 13, 14, and 15, and they have no relation to the Pokémon Mansion and Cerulean Cave. Additionally, they can be found in Cerulean Cave in Red, Green, and Blue, as well as in Rock Tunnel in Japanese Blue, another unrelated location to Pokémon Mansion and Cerulean Cave. So the theories about Ditto and Mew when looked at it from that perspective become less credible. On one hand, yes the similarities make it believable (weight, standard and shiny colors, the connection to Pokémon Mansion) when pointing out the things that make sense, but the whole picture tells a different story. I've never supported the theory for that reason. I'm sure people will be sounding off to my comment trying to explain how Ditto got to Routes 13-15 or Rock Tunnel. There's only one explanation: there's no relation between the two Pokémon.
YOOOOO THAT CHERRYGROVE CITY WATER SPOT BUGGED ME SINCE MY CHILDHOOD TOO. You're a king. I came here expecting nothing, then I got gold, I mean... Crystal.
Woah, Bugsy studying unevolved Pokemon’s level training increase to prove the existence of Scizor before ‘Scizor’ itself was known, knew for this gen - and it would change the world to prove whether or not evolutions of Pokemon exist even before their discovery. Like what we did with Eviolite Dipplin.
#8 It can't be. The NPCs are from Red, Green and Blue, not Yellow, such as Dontae, the guy who trades you a Jynx in RGB, rather than Melanie, who gives you Bulbasaur, and the trainer in Cerulean having a Slowbro, as it was in RGB, rather than an Electrode, as in Yellow. So the world itself suggests RGB as the story that GSC follow, not Yellow.
