NEW FAST SHOOTING RECORD WITH THE FLYING QUIVER:
Ten arrows in ten seconds (10,8s, 18m distance)!
Remaining consistent and comfortable while shooting at a very high pace (1,2 seconds rate of fire in this case), becomes possible through a more complete implementation of the "principle of the umbrella", (applied for drawing and loading as well).
Nevertheless, several updates were also needed in order to increase the compatibility of the archery technique with the basic principle of shooting:
- wide and upright basic stance, open to the target and having a strong dynamic aspect,
- proper breathing control (shooting all the arrows after inspiration while keeping the air inside, before the next breathing out),
- using the flying quiver in a more horizontal position (by shortening the front shoulder straps, eventually lengthening the rigid rods from the back part)
- implementing a higher performance loading technique ("the slapping hand", which will be the main subject of a future Facebook posting)
video, Katariina Cozmei

What's so not fair about it? This is the product of years of dedication and practice, behind the skill of an archer lay the quality and quantity of his practice. If you really really want to be a superb archer then dedicate your self and several hours per day to its practice and learning form and technique, Jerry Miculik who holds several world records for his speed with pistols and three gun competition will tell you there's only one way to be the best .....to be the first one on the range and the last to leave and to use that time wisely to focus on acquiring these skills . In drawing and firing a single accurate round there's a reason I'm three tens of a second faster with a bow than Jerry is with a pistol and it's not because I sat around wishing I were that fast and go from a stand still hands down at my sides to an arrow in a three inch circle in point five seconds. Dedication and discipline. ....you have it or you don't

A great display of control and rhythm 🙂 But it needs to be pointed out that you'd barely drawn the string back an inch before releasing the arrow, and a second between shots unless you were aiming at something right infront of you would be horribly inaccurate. Just a disclaimer you should put on your video please
@jareth7456
@jareth7456 4 месяца назад
I don't get what you're saying about drawing an inch before release but about accuracy it's all about the training and the quantity and quality of the practice.....you train for the arrow to go where the eyes are fixed...so it doesn't matter how fast you shoot except to say that a person trained this way is more accurate the faster he shoots because it gives less time for the conscious mind to interfere with the shot .....the way we train turns the subconscious mind into a ballistic computer
@valandil7454
@valandil7454 4 месяца назад
@@jareth7456I've been using our European d-flex longbows, only an 80lb draw at 28" for over 20yrs now (feeling old 😄) and I'm fairly fast but haven't reached that kind of unconscious accuracy yet. Yes a lot of it is instinctive the same as any physical movement like my footwork and bladework, or even the way I pass or kick the rugby ball but we still take a moment to pick where we want to hit it. A lot of historians I've met have told me that archers didn't just loose long flight arrows, they picked their targets and a lot of the time fired from within their effective range which when you think of the kinds of armour could be literally only yards away, so taking a moment to examine the target and pick a soft spot makes more sense doesn't it? I was only making the disclaimer that having speed over power and accuracy isn't a good idea or something that was done historically, the way he's show us is VERY impressive but more akin to trick shooting than archery, I can easily throw and shoot a can out of the air if I only draw it an inch sure, but it doesn't represent anything practical. Maybe that's part of the problem with modern sport archery, you win the point if you hit the target it doesn't matter how. Sorry for over explaining that I just wanted us to be on the same page 🙂

i often practice this same technique although i am nowhere near this level. in the fifteenth century arabic archery manual this technique is known as "shooting from the heart". Mihai Cosmei is clearly a master of the technique. watch him do it again. it is not performed by the draw hand alone like modern target archery it is more about how he used his bowhand. having taken the arrow from his quiver and knocked or loaded it onto the string he then punches his bowhand out and towards his target releasing at the right moment. we just cannot judge this technique from a modern archers perspective, there is far too much going on for that, remember where the name and description came from, a fifteenth century training manual. now ok i am told he uses a very lightweight bow, around twenty five pounds draw weight but he is not hunting with it, it could be said he is trick shooting at that draw weight however when i throw arrows this way i am using a fifty pound ottoman bow and whilst that is not "warbow" draw weight it is not far off and there is more than one archer today practicing the technique on warbows at the heavier end of the scale.

i Hope i can help but it will surely be a bit of an essay. thinking of the bowhand, mediterranean is the best while throwing from the knuckle side but for accurate throwing from the thumb side it is thumb, Slavic or Assyrian. throwing from the thumb side is naturally faster as You will surely discover should You try it. Mihai uses Slavic draw although it is still doable with thumb draw but is maybe a fraction slower. throwing from the thumb side of the bowhand however makes a huge difference in how we overcome the archers paradox. it's the physics involved within the overall paradox which dictates how the arrow flexes on release. it always flexes the same way regardless of whichever side of the bowhand we are throwing from, thumb side it will flex inwards towards the bow whilst knuckle side it flexes away and around the bow, that is the reason that modern target archers throw from the knuckle side and also some indigenous hunters also still today throw their arrows knuckle side. that's fine if we are throwing arrows one at a time for hunting or point based target shooting but this is medieval military archery. the english longbow and archers being the pinnacle of medieval military archery is a western myth, i am english going back generations to the Celts by the way. the Truth of the matter is the Ottoman or Turkish archers were the absolute pinnacle during medieval times both in archers skill and the actual recurve bows they used. throwing the Ottoman or even Tatar or Mongolian way (to name but a few) we initiate release with the bowhand and not the draw hand like modern target archers do. the technique for overcoming the paradox described in the Arabic archery manual from the fifteenth century is known as "khatra", the k is silent same as for the english word "knife". there are three ways to perform khatra that i know of... front, side and back khatra. i don't recommend side khatra that is the Chinese and Korean (to name...) method where they have a longer draw and throw longer arrows but it strains the bow limbs and has been known to break them with the torque involved. Mihai is clearly demonstrating excellent technique for front khatra, that we can see here from the way he tips the bow forwards and downwards to initiate release. the draw length for this type of archery is only twenty eight inches in which case as the tension is released the archer completes our back tension which naturally translates as back khatra to further remove the bow from the arrows flight path over such a short distance. as always with archery no matter what style we throw the arrows with it's all about muscle memory, the less we think about it the more accurate we are when throwing so it's about practice and practice again until we have drilled it enough it becomes automatic. this is where the misnomer "instinctive" aiming comes into play, it's not instinctive it's learned and drilled in. there's parallels between most sports, for instance boxing, the boxer is no longer thinking about how to throw their jab once practiced enough for competition they just do it. drill to develop the skill but when it comes time to perform all those combinations go out the window as the boxer combines their punches to suit the openings in the moment. same thing here. i Hope You got this far and have a better insight into just what Mihai is doing here as a result. for further study on uboob as well as Mihai's other videos where he explains the techniques involved i will highly recommend Armin Hirmer personally i have learned a massive amount from both men! all the best and have a great time! 😊

But that doesn’t matter because the technique was used for hunting. You say you’re a bow hunter but you’ve displayed a clear lack of knowledge about archery. The reason he uses a low draw weight bow is because he doesn’t need a high draw weight. Using this technique he can get greater speed, greater accuracy and the same power with a significantly reduced draw weight.
