My fav Batman artist. He always had Batman doing athletic fighting moves, jump kicks, drop kicks, and even leg scissor takedowns. The fight scenes were so action packed and more cinematic than most artists before or since. Supposedly, he's unofficially credited as being the 1st artist to draw Batman in a comic using a grappling gun for the 1st time. Many comic writers/artists were referenced throughout the show; last names were street names like Neal Adams, Denny O'Neil, Steve Englehart, and Mike W. Barr.

I'd say Heath Ledger's Joker is more of a chaotic reality take on the character. There's no way Christopher Nolan would have had the Joker his movies do things like us garbage scow as cover to fill this city with his patented laughing gas, or pollute Gotham Bay with his toxins so he could end up copyrighting fish. He was more about causing chaos and panic for the sake of it to show everyone how fake civility is. He may not be the best Joker, but he is the best live action one.

@@ryanbauer3680 DEFINITELY the best live-action one I agree, and he'll *always* be the benchmark against which all others are judged (yes, Jared Leto, I'm looking at you!), but for sheer fun and lunacy, Mark Hamill (in both The Animated Series and the Arkham games) takes the biscuit. To be honest though, it *is* a bit of an unfair comparison, with the two mediums being totally different in how they approach characterisations, so it might be more appropriate to award the pair equal first place... 🙂 🍄

Both. The darkness of the character and especially the alter ego is influenced heavily from The Shadow. Kent Allard (Shadows alter ego) is a playboy and wealthy socialite as well.

The video incorrectly says Kane was influenced by Shadow serials, but he took (more than just) influence from the original pulp stories. The exact issue that the first Batman story was modeled on was "Partners of Peril," and it's such an exact duplicate that Kane actually plagiarized some of the artwork. And if you read Shadow pulps in general there are plenty of references to him appearing like a huge bat, so Kane didn't need to make much of a jump, the pulps were basically handing him the character of Batman nearly fully formed. Kane just took The Shadow, leaned into the bat angle, gave him a flashier and more cartoony look, and he was off to the races. I feel like any Zorro influence was more on the early depictions of Bruce Wayne as a rich man living a double life, but it was certainly a secondary influence.

I always had an issue with Citizen Kane... the entire movie is based off the mystery of his final words as he died... but he died alone, there was no one there to actually hear his final words if he even spoke any.
