No man should be swayed just because a woman told you to shave your beard completely off. Never, ever do that. It's YOUR hair NOT hers. You're allowed to do whatever you want to you're hair.
I have experienced receding hairline for so many years now so I just shave my head and never thought of growing a beard. Just 2 months ago I thought why not grow a beard since winter is approaching here in Colorado and see what happens. And Man I'm so happy now especially after sticking it out through the rough phases. Now my level of confidence has sky rocketed because I have hair on my head again but it's on the south side. Thanks for a very informative video! And my beard is helping me in my work environment and socially. I went to a bar recently and the woman I was talking to thought I was a lawyer/ attorney when she 1st seen me walk through the door. You have to go fishing with the best bait!
Haha I can relate! I've been balding for 5 years, ever since I was about 15 years old. At 17 I realised I could grow a beard, and at 19 I decided to grow for the first time... gave up unfortunately, but I am back again and almost 4 months in (about the same I got last time before I cut it all off)! No plans to get rid if it now.
Same here i been going bald and just shave my head but i always had the pokie stubble going i desided let me just try grow a beard also i never did because it just gets itchy and irritated then i shave it again. Im now past that stage where its soft and fuller the amount of complements i get from it is astonishing saying how good it looks so yea guys im in the beard gang too 😂 good job keep it up.
Absolutely phenomenal advice. I learned all of this the hard way and it's good to see folks providing ACCURATE advice. I'm 11 years strong on my beard and wouldn't have it any other way!
Everyone is different. You will typically see substantial growth if you leave your beard alone for 3-4 months. Then you can assess you growth patterns and fullness and go from there!
Started my beard journey June 15th of this year! Definitely have had the days where I look in the mirror and it looks like crap, but those are the days you push through. Cause the end goal is right there with patience
You got that right. Just try not to touch it until about 3-4 months except for a little clean up on your cheeks and neck! You'll be happy you pushed through.
Beard oil does help your skin, but I've found that it also makes my coarse beard hair softer. When I hit mid-life years, my beard hair started bothering my wife because it scratched her, but the oil on my beard has led to many more kisses.
100% - The oils are definitely geared toward skin moisture, but that doesn't mean that's their only benefit. I preach this same concept (Beard oil isn't for your beard) but your comment nails the other half. The oils in most beard oils will also provide significant benefit to the actual beard as well, as the name suggests :)
The right kind of scent with beard oil seems to have positive effect on females in general. In Canada there are beard oils infused with Cannabis. That's complimentary to regular pot usage assisting with healthy beard growth With my genetics I shouldn't even really have much facial hair, and actually have a full covered beard, ZZ top style. It's gotta be the pot. ...And a few other factors, like the ability to carry and hold healthy levels of testosterone, like being outdoors regularly, or even better, working outdoors. And avoiding estrogen influencing environments like romance movies, things women are interested in, touchy feely tv shows, commericals, or even high pitched songs from dudes. As well estrogen kinds of foods and drinks, like soy and beer. Most of the full bearded guys I'm around are all regular smokers
I was using beard oil to soften my beard, tone down the gray color and tame flyaways (did a great job) but found, in comparison to other oils, that it was super expensive.
@@fortyseventen I like your theory with the pot being a daily smoker myself, my diet is shit and my exercise is 0% also contradicted the rest of these tips but yet I have grown a long full bushy beard in 6 months 🤷🏻♂️
I had always prayed that my man would have an amazing beard, and God did not disappoint. My bearded, blue-eyed prince, however, does not have a single sweet clue about how to take care of it properly. These videos are amazing and I can honestly say they have helped SO MUCH. Long live the beards 👏🏼
The best advice I could give to anyone is just let the thing grow, if needed use product to make look look kept up with and so it doesn't go wild but let it grow. Give it a good 4-6 months of not cutting not trimming unless you absolutely have to because it's obviously unbalanced. Than go to a barber and ask them to trim and balance your beard for you. They will be able to shape it just save some photos of what you shape you want and show it to them and they can put you on the right path. Hair takes a lot of time to grow and if you are not skilled/confident in trimming it let a barber do it for you after that point you have a rough outline of where to trim once it starts to grow longer. As it gets longer it will cover up spots with thin hair, I can grow an amazing beard on the sides of my face but my chin is one large thin spot and it's hard to manage because of how thin the hair is there and how slowly it grows but as the bottom portion of my jaw started to fill in it was hardly noticeable. When it does start to grow you are able to comb/brush your hair how ever you like but you can also comb thicker spots over light patches to hide them.
Absolutely. Great advice. I've only trimmed my beard 4-5 times in ~2 years, but each time I ended up taking off more than I intended. Not enough to seriously set back my progress, but more than I wanted off. Through most of that time, I wasn't using any products, just shampooing and combing it. It still looked good after each trim, but now I think I would have been better off letting it grow unhampered and just using oil and balm. Lots of guys, though, will trim their beards all the time, and then wonder why they aren't getting longer.
That take dedication! Grow your beard how you want to grow it. If you want to trim it and tighten it up, it would look great. If you just want to let the beast roam free, it looks great. Keep the beard strong!
Subscribed and smashed that like button. Just this year in November I stopped shaving. And I'll admit, I kept seeing the ads over and over and I'd just skip it. One day I finally gave it a shot. Blown away. Seeing new growth, new hairs all the time. Although I have real no top line on my face. But I keep on washing, beard oil and shape. Live bearded brothers.
The sharp edges on plastic combs actually aren't from snapping the comb off anything. The mold for the comb is made in two halves to allow for removal after cooling, and the line where the two mold halves meet won't create a perfect seal, no matter how skilled the moldmaker is. A small amount of plastic oozes out between the two halves when it's injected, and the issue slowly gets worse as the mold wears out. The only thing that gets snapped off is the gate where the liquid plastic is injected into the mold. That will look like a small, rough circular spot in one or more spots on the part. You'll also find smooth circular areas on the comb with their own flashing. Those are from pins incorporated into the mold used to eject the part after the two halves open. A good quality saw-cut plastic comb won't have any flashing, and is a good alternative to wood.
Most people who appreciate a beard will like yours a lot more than you do. Those who don't like beards are highly unlikely to give you positive advice or encouragement. Look after your beard in the manner suggested in this video and sit everyone out if you can. Its easier when you're older as work isn't always a drag on your beard ambitions. All you have to do is wait.
Great advice brother. I've seen some amazing beards on my journey But good advice on beard care has not been part of the journey. I've only recently received my first official professional beard trim. Because I've learned not to assume everyone who cuts hair can trim you beard. Keep the excellent quality beard care advice coming As my quest continues. Thanks bro.
@Thomas Jefferson Good evening internet troll. I herd you were out there and I've been waiting for a genius like you to give me a title " hipster". Thank you. 😁
I am 64 Years old... Starting my first beard hey.. now I am loving it... I am retired and no one can tell me anyting about proper work facial hair stuff anymore... I finally feel as if I am free! My wife loves it yes, and so do I!
I have started my beard journey two days ago on August 1 from a clean shave. I'm a mix of salt and pepper and have always been self-conscious of my grays, but now I'm ready to embrace my silver and take a seat at the table. Thank you very much for the tips, I'll certainly be referring to them as my beard grows.
I would love a silver beard but it makes me look just plan old. I dye my beard every two weeks with just for men in a nice dark brown. Literally the next day strangers n coworkers all say “ your beard looks so FULL”. Maybe it’s an illusion or something but I can still rock it at 54. I take alittle to put on top hair like streaks to somewhat match it. And another person said the color continuity makes a big difference.
Dirty nastie old men have grey beards because , They are too lazy to shave, or they want to hide two or three chins, and think people will think they look cool,, But they only look like a TRAMP
Good tips. I decided to regrow mine after a 5 year hiatus. Will never shave it off again. I did my first trim after an 8 week initial grow out. Wife was getting on my case about looking shaggy. The self-trim with my new Brio came out perfect. I plan on hitting the stragglers about once a month just to keep the shape with a slightly longer beard. Best look for me.
I’m so glad that this brand puts out this videos. My husband has been bald since he was a teen and has just started growing a beard. He has 0 clues how to take care of it and maintain it but he has a goal so... here I am doing research so I can be his barber. Bless me with some help, Beardsmen!
That's awesome! Just remember not to trim or touch it for at least 4 months! This will allow his full growth potential to take place and help avoid trimming too soon. Always trim a finger width above the Adam's apple and don't go too close to the jawline. The under beard is what gives us the full, thick looking beard and if you cut into it, as a beard gets longer it will start to look thin!
Whenever you see a dude with a great beard, tell them. I know I love the compliments. And a beard straightener comb on low setting after you put in beard oil and butter, is a great way to style your beard and bring down any fly aways
Josh Salmon man, it was starting to get pretty epic and I had a big interview which i thought I should shave for and which I didn’t get anyway in the end. I’m about two weeks into recovery. Lesson learnt.
It has now been 90 days since this comment, is it majestic now? I always have a chin strap beard, and it looks great, but I'm about to go into truck driving, so I want to get started on my trucker beard lol
I'm trying to grow one, I grew it out before an got depressed when I shaved it off. But I'm back for round 2, I'm only 2 weeks in. But I'm glad I found out about these helpful tips. I made so made of these bad decisions on my first grow. I noticed the Oil did make it stink more an I was washing my beard everyday & wondering why I wasn't seeing true growth. Glad I'm stronger & ready to get this going!
Mr. Charming lmao. I grew my beard a foot in length and shaved it off. I regretted doing so afterwards. I’m back at the half way mark. It’ll grow back, but don’t listen to that voice that says to shave it.
I've been growing a beard off and in for a few years. Usually lasts about 6 months and I get discouraged and shave. Dedicated to making it last this time. I have 4 months of growth. Looking forward to watching your videos!
Love the tips man keep it up! I loved that you mentioned smoking- I was a smoker for years and started developing a receding hairline- once I finally quit my hair grew back near the front of my head and my beards were much fuller!
Oh my god. I’ve shaved my beard off soooo many times because my face got dry and itchy. Then my face feels all cold and I start to get the urge to watch soaps on tv until it grows back! Putting your tips into practise right now.
Yep, I have a Kent mustache comb. Works great. I use just your regular run of the mill womans hair brush to tame my beard. Never had any issues with it. However, I do not use a plastic comb.
By far the best mustache I've seen in a while. Beard is great, of course, but the mustache really gives you that awesome look without looking douchey or cartooney. Great content!
Thanks for the huge compliment my brother! In a world where people are looking to out others down, we love when other men can help build each other up. Keep up the good work bro!
Talked with several of the guys at Live Bearded. All very awesome individuals. I’ve ordered multiple times and wish money was more prevalent because I’d ordered more. I’m using beard growth vitamins and when you said you don’t grow new follicles I raised my eyebrows because I have beard growth in some bare patches but like you said I probably had growth there although thin and now it’s come in thick. I’m on second bottle and I’m amazed how thick it’s getting. I’m going to seek professional beard barber for a trim soon. I’m not gonna stop smoking my cigars. I’ll deal with the stunting lol. I work outside so I do the whole routine everyday.
Bears. Grisly bears. I guess when you have a full packed beard like his, genetically speaking, the usual places where the standard guy dosent grow hair, for hims its "patchy"
Tried to grow one, didn’t shave my face for 4 years, only ended up with a thin, ridiculous, transparent goatee and something resembling whiskers (which you can see on my older videos). That was in my mid-20s. With that final nail on the coffin, I finally realized I couldn’t be a man any longer. It’s now been 6 years of gender transition and I’m much happier. I can still appreciate other guys’ awesome beards, though! Keep it up!
If the explanation stayed at that, yes, haha. Naturally, my issues go way deeper, starting with severe gender dysphoria since I was a child. But there was a time when I tried to compensate for them, to be as masculine as I could possibly be, to work out heavily 7 days a week and follow all the recommended "manly" protocol. I did that for a whole decade and finally realized that I could never be happy as a man. Some people say I will never be happy at all. But it is more fun to say I did it because I couldn't grow a decent beard. I try to laugh at my problems so they become a lighter load to bear. :)
Fair enough. I've never interacted with someone who is transgender I suppose, so I'll just say I love you, Jesus loves you and have a good day my friend.
For #2 just use minoxidil. Will probably take a year but you'll grow new hair on your beard. Edit: To be fair you did say follicles which you CAN'T create, even with minox. but still, minox is almost magic for a patchy beard.
Thanks for adding the tip about smoking. Quitting has many benefits, least of which is better beard growth. Take it from a guy who just got word he needs his third heart cath in 15 years thanks to smoking. The 6 stents I already have aren't worth the risk!
When I decided to grow a beard, I suddenly noticed how many men have beards. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and it seems even more prevalent here as there is a big hipster scene. The boots, jeans, flannel shirt buttoned up all the way to the top, glasses, big beard, and arm sleeve tattoos. Many guys have this look but not all can pull it off. I don’t have a theory as to why there has been a huge surge in wanting a beard and I am often asked why I am growing one. I half jokingly answer “I grow a beard because women can’t.” 😉.
I grow a beard because I'm Armenian and it's a sign of being a man. And also because it keeps my face warm in winter. My Grandpa said he had a beard so it catches food he drops which keeps the floor clean.
Just recently started using live Bearded products again. I forgot how good the products are!!! Great video! I’ll be doing a review soon. Stay tuned 👌🏻👍🏻
Nice video bro. Is beard balm just as effective for your skin as beard oil? Balm is easier for me to travel with in my bag. I’m just wondering if it promotes the same benefits. Cheers man
So good. Such simple but huge info. I'm just starting my beard. Good for me to hear all of this. Where did you get your GRATEFUL shirt at? Very needed in our world now. THANKS
Ha! Mine is in the wild stage now, the temptation to trim a little here and there is real. I'm trying to have patience. I had a barber draw my initial neck line, I think he needs to try a different profession. There's the mistakes you make while you are learning, then there is just being careless and sloppy. One side was way off from the other, and the oddest part was he cut and angle into the line in the center and just left it like that. I couldn't see it from the angle I was checking it out at while in the chair, but I didn't really expect it to be that big of a deal. The only thing he did right was leave enough room for me to fix it properly, so at least he had that sense. I just took it as a queue that he doesn't like messing with beards and he doesn't want me back as a customer. lol
Great tips! Personally I prefer trimming before styling, that way my beard is in its natural state and I don't have to use as much product to make it look good. The balancing act thing is so true, it bothers me so much when I take a chunk out where I shouldn't and I'm so tempted to push it down.
Hey bro, first off thanks for your service! Second, be sure to check out our entire channel or our blog on the website for all sorts of growing tips, trimming pointers and all things beard! www.livebearded.com 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I completely agree with everything except number 1 isn't so black and white. Yes, beard oil should be applied to the skin, but afterwards I would recommend working it through the beard. Especially if your beard is long, because the natural oils don't always reach the ends.
Yes there is. Your beard never stopped getting thicker. It always grows! Coconut and hemp oil. Caratine for legnth and test boosters for elevated growth
The man could go with non-Euclidean geometry in styling his beard and it would still be majestic. Because beneath that majestic beard is an awesome bro who wants you to have the most majestic beard an awesome bro can have. And that's what matters.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I’ve been doing sooooooo many things wrong. This has been the most informative & useful video I’ve EVER watched on RU-vid(PERIOD)!
Just found you guys, just subscribed ill be watching. I've got a Shaggy little go-t and a little mustache.... Little. But im still young just 19 bit one day ill have a fat beard too
Good looking beard man! Thanks for the tips. I have a question. I can't quite style my beard. Even though I use hair dryer, it doesn't go completely flat. Do I then have to trim my beard a little bit or use beard balm to get the desired result?
Wow.... I've been using beard oils for years... never massaged it into my face.... learn something new every day .. Can't wait until the next time I use it ...Thank You.......
Finally, I man that I do not know but he presence a good confidence for me! Why? Because he has a wonderful detailed and well grown beard. And he is speaking about beards. Got my point?
I’m 17 smoke a pack a day and still have a full beard, I never wash my beard and always use a plastic comb, which has led me to the conclusion that 95% of beard growth is genetics
Genetics have a huge role in this, but these tips are for people who aren't as blessed in the gene pool department and need a little advantage. What works for one doesn't work for all. But, eventually, a cheap plastic comb will cause breakage in your beard. Some plastic combs are made to be thicker, very high quality that cause much less or zero static. Static can cause breakage and split ends in your beard, which will it alter growth patterns and look thinner.
Unfortunately I have made almost all of these mistakes over the last 8 years of having various lengths of beards, but it is a learning process and helps you somewhat perfect your maintenance.
Just started the trip to a beard I’m 20 days in got stubble going and waiting for it to connect from my chin to my chops can’t wait to see what it looks like after 90 days
There is a certain type of bar soap that is good for it though. There's one called Grandpa's Pine Tar soap which I use once a week. This is generally true for most soap though since most do have a lot of bad chemicals for the beard.
The last time I shaved my beard off was 1986, the summer after 10th grade. Admittedly I have almost always kept it under an inch and mostly between a 1/4 and 1/2. Over the years I usually shaved my neck. I'v spent a lot of time trimming. Until I started watching your videos, I never knew their were so many shoulds and shouldn'ts concerning the hair that grows from a man's face.
Hey brother! Thanks for sharing. It's incredible how often toy think you're doing something right when it comes to your beard but it's in fact way off for the look you are wanting to achieve! We had to learn the hard way ourselves. But in all honesty there is no wrong or right way to grow a beard, because they are all unique to us and of our own preference. But there are certain rules and guidelines in helping you get the look you desire, and we like to let our mishaps be others guiding light! 😆💪🏻 Have a great day brother!
